Yay for conflict! I'm here for the darker and angstier the better 😂 that said, this is such a helpful distinction - worth also noting that depending on the premise, quite often a black moment doesn't have a break-up in a real life sense but rather they stay together but without the relationship being full and intimate. Royal romances and if there's kids etc - this brings home the "it's conflict, not drama for drama's sake" message I think. And while I respect readers reading what they want and loving it, when I'm reading I'm gonna need an actual black moment to make the HEA more satisfying 😈
I really like this genre specific advice. Would love to see more on romance plots or more explicitly advice within the genre of fantasy romance. The fantasy aspect I feel somewhat confident with but I’ve recently been struggling with my romance plot.
I had a 3rd act break up, but ditched it. The new incident brought them closer together. One tried to push the other away, feeling he didn't deserve love, but his love interest refused to give up on him that easily. I think it works better for my story.
You could certainly have other couples break up then as well, but you'll still need a big conflict between your two main characters in their relationship, since it is their story. Hope this helps!

I'm with you -- give me all the break ups and angst!
Ha. This is so eerily on point for my current project. Funny things is, RUclips hadn't suggested it to me until now!
Great minds! And RUclips for the win! Haha

I'll definitely add more in the future! Great to hear!
Very helpful
I'm glad you enjoyed it!

That sounds great! Sometimes not having a break makes the relationship even stronger. Love it.
Instead of the main characters, what about other characters in that case for breakups?
