Received mine yesterday and balances well on Z9…after a couple test shots, I can see this lens is going to be epic! Even at f/2.8 background obliterated 👍🏻 Glad you’re back ZWADE!
I got one delivered by B&H yesterday by simply pre-ordering when they were announced some time ago. I used it a lot yesterday and today and all I can say is WOW!
I know they would. They don't want something that can be passed down to their kids anymore, or can survive tripping over a light stand like I did and trashed my light hahaha.
@@ZWadePhoto LOL yeah, I'm with you, I prefer them being made of metal or don't mind them being heavy.. another thing could be the cost.. maybe they don't want to go bankrupt if they don't sell enough lenses, them being made of metal can be costly and also bad for the environment... just two thoughts that came to my mind right now..
They would also be more expensive, and you already know how much people love to complain about that lol... imagine an 800mm made of metal lol... that would cost like $25k lol...
And isn’t plastics the worst environmental mistake destroying our planet at this moment? Well yes it is ! Nothing I can think of is destroying our planet faster . Second is over fishing and dredging our oceans with giant “Plastic Nets” another story. I’m for the top of the line Nikon products having metal internal moving and functional parts . The plastics over time loose oils , get brittle, break and cannot be replaced by Nikon . All the lens mounts of the lenses about the plastic cheapO’s should be brass with chrome . That’s just a proper professional build . Lasting and replaceable and precision.
love that old 135mm defocus lens. I wish the 135 plena came out before I bought the 85mm f1.2. Nikon has forgotten my little LCD screen again. Also I much prefer the round hoods over the petal ones - lens doesn't fall over as often. Love your new Hat. I'm looking forward to your review ... 🦘
Thanks Roy! Yes these lenses are close enough that unless someone works in AND out of studio it would really be a tough choice if you have one already. This lens is too long for my studio, but the 85mm isn't, I'd almost always use this outdoors instead of the 85. Secretly hoping each of them have their own look so I can just take them both. lol.
In my opinion, prime lens don’t need a screen, the focal length isn’t changing and for aperture, you can get that info from the body. I would like it if Nikon would put the focal length info in the EVF, rear and top screens. On my Sony cameras, the info shows up when you start to zoom, so you know the focal length, in body.
❤📸 Hey Z man! Nice box reveal. I have a very old 135mm and it is a tank. At least Nikon is remaining true to the 135's DNA. The folks have missed you on the Saturday night Selective Imagery Live Stream. Good to see you here.
After the 180-600, the 135 1.8 might be my next purchase. It will be so good for landscapes, portraits, video and trap camera for wildlife. Nice seeing another smaller camera channel doing well.

Not tried on the Z9 yet. Oh, lordy lordy... I can't wait to get the Zf which is coming soon, I guess. I love this stuff. Can't wait to see your photos when you get out and about to shoot. Thanks for sharing my friend and PEACE ...
Nice vid Z-wade. One note - the Z14-24/2.8S, Z50/1.2 and now Z135/1.8 Plena all have the same size hood fitting (sadly the Z85/1.2 is a wee bit larger diameter) -- as a result I can use my Nisi lens hood and 112mm filters across all these lenses. [Some other Z lenses -- zooms also share the same size hood so the same hood/filters work on this]. Why does this matter -- well shooting at f/1.8 stills and particularly video needs light control -- via ND filters and CPLs
I do mind a lot about size and weight when hiking, I have the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM at 950 g (2.09 lb), 90 mm (3.54″)x127 mm (5″) Lens which is slightly smaller and lighter in weight than the Nikon 135mm 1.8 at 995 g (2.19 lb),98 mm (3.86″)x140 mm (5.51″), in 2023 I got the excellent Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 110mm 2.5 at 771 g, 99.7 x 78.4mm which is smaller and lighter than the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM, the Voigtländer is sharper at 2.5 and 2.8 than the Sony, when I went over many of my images taken with the Sony I found out that nearly all image was between aperture 2.8 and 5.6, so now I rarely use the Sony, but I enjoy the Voigtländer very much ! By the way I do not like Lenses that do not have an aperture ring.
At 6:00 you’re exactly right about the play in the lens mount. This drives me nuts. This problem actually compounds once you have FTZ adapter. With adapter and my old 200-500 I would sometimes have enough play to trigger the camera into dropping the viewfinder image or at least hear a clicking noise like the VR was shutting off and on again. Since the 200-500 has a long turn on the zoom, I’d be turning on the lens a lot and this would sometimes with the looseness of the mount cause the camera to freak out. Totally unacceptable. There’s some play with my z mount glass although less since no adapter.
You received yours quickly! Mine is coming with NPS priority, but it won't be delivered until Wednesday this week. Regarding the metal exterior of the Plena, I'll never know for sure, but I'm curious if the decision to use metal on the outside was more of a marketing choice. I recently watched a teardown of the Nikon 24-70 2.8 S, which has a plastic exterior but a metal structure inside, (metal internal gears and components). There's another teardown of a Sony 24-70, which features a metal exterior but plastic gears on the inside. Strangely, Nikon received criticism for their lens feeling like plastic. 🤔

In English:
If your are going to be a dickhead, you should do so in english not Polish. Then I will not feel compelled to respond using google translate.
You misunderstood, probably a language barrier, and you clearly have not watched any of my other videos.
I say all of the time "I want lenses made of metal and I do not care about weight, but understand some people do"
Please watch he video again, pay attention at 6:43-7:21 and you will discover that you were a dickhead for no reason.
@@ZWadePhoto Szkoda mi mojego czasu na oglądanie tego filmu ponownie.
Nawet nie powinnam odpowiadać na tak obraźliwy komentarz….
It's expensive.
That it is
