I've been shooting photography most of my adult life. It started with an on sale Nikon D3200 that wasn't even interested in using, all the way through being a photography business owner, teacher, and RUclips Photography Content Creator.
My favorite subjects are Human Portraits and Shallow Depth of Field with my specialty, or claim to fame if you will, being Dramatic Nude and Bodyscape. Over my many years of photography I've mastered many genres but I never stop learning and I don't want you to stop either. That's why I started my RUclips Channel in the year 2020. After a hiatus from photography, I picked up my camera again just in time for the Covid Pandemic. The world shut down. With more time than ever and no humans to photograph I found myself bored but motivated. ZWade Photo, the RUclips Channel, was born.
I have always been a Nikon brand photographer, but in my community on RUclips there is limitless room for Canon, Sony, Fuji, Leica, Hasselblad, Nikon, AND any other brand, photographers. Follow along as this channel one day grows into the biggest, most honest, and most fun photography community on the internet.

Received mine yesterday and balances well on Z9…after a couple test shots, I can see this lens is going to be epic! Even at f/2.8 background obliterated 👍🏻
Glad you’re back ZWADE!
Can't wait to get a model in front of it my friend!
i want this lens Z. Can't wait. great video. welcome back.
I’m shooting it tonight! 🤙🤙
Great first thoughts. Can't wait to see the pictures!!
Can't wait to take some!
I got one delivered by B&H yesterday by simply pre-ordering when they were announced some time ago. I used it a lot yesterday and today and all I can say is WOW!
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Congratulations! Looks like a beauty….. can’t wait to see some of your output.
Can't wait to shoot it! Thanks for watching.
Good job Nikon including the Chef's hat. LOLOL OL

Congratulations. Can't wait for the portraits
Thanks! Coming soon
I was actually waiting for this.

HAHAHA I like that ZedWade Photouggggh. I don't know yall dont gag on your "O's" Noghg way Joghse
Hey Z!! Nice to see you again. I just got my Z 135mm Plena today and it looks fantastic! Feels fantastic! Is fantastic! I took two pictures here at my desk and was really blown away already. Love it so far. I can't wait to get out and use it for a while. I am going to use mine for more than portraits though. I think it really fits great on the Z8. Looks fantastic on the Z7ii as well. Not tried on the Z9 yet. Oh, lordy lordy... I can't wait to get the Zf which is coming soon, I guess. I love this stuff. Can't wait to see your photos when you get out and about to shoot. Thanks for sharing my friend and PEACE ...
Thanks Mike! My shot will be coming soon!
❤📸 Hey Z man! Nice box reveal. I have a very old 135mm and it is a tank. At least Nikon is remaining true to the 135's DNA. The folks have missed you on the Saturday night Selective Imagery Live Stream. Good to see you here.
Thanks my dude! I have had the 135 Ai's lenses and yes sir...they kick ass.
Congrats man! That's a beautiful beast
Thanks! Can't wait to do work.
After the 180-600, the 135 1.8 might be my next purchase. It will be so good for landscapes, portraits, video and trap camera for wildlife.
Nice seeing another smaller camera channel doing well.
Thanks my friend! And thanks for commenting ting
love that old 135mm defocus lens.
I wish the 135 plena came out before I bought the 85mm f1.2.
Nikon has forgotten my little LCD screen again.
Also I much prefer the round hoods over the petal ones - lens doesn't fall over as often.
Love your new Hat.
I'm looking forward to your review ... 🦘
Thanks Roy! Yes these lenses are close enough that unless someone works in AND out of studio it would really be a tough choice if you have one already. This lens is too long for my studio, but the 85mm isn't, I'd almost always use this outdoors instead of the 85. Secretly hoping each of them have their own look so I can just take them both. lol.
In my opinion, prime lens don’t need a screen, the focal length isn’t changing and for aperture, you can get that info from the body. I would like it if Nikon would put the focal length info in the EVF, rear and top screens. On my Sony cameras, the info shows up when you start to zoom, so you know the focal length, in body.
Thank you,Waiting to see the photos.from nairobi,kenya
Heck yea! I'll get them out soon! From USA to Nairobi with love my friend!
@@ZWadePhoto haha..thank you...would this be a good lens for those back ground blurs in video during interviews..the sort that you see on interviews on ABC,60mins Etc
Would love to see a video shot of a talking head too.
@@muturikanini9176 I’ll see what I can do about checking its ability with video for you in a video, but for sure the backgrounds will be destroyed lol gone, blur beyond belief
Nice vid Z-wade. One note - the Z14-24/2.8S, Z50/1.2 and now Z135/1.8 Plena all have the same size hood fitting (sadly the Z85/1.2 is a wee bit larger diameter) -- as a result I can use my Nisi lens hood and 112mm filters across all these lenses. [Some other Z lenses -- zooms also share the same size hood so the same hood/filters work on this]. Why does this matter -- well shooting at f/1.8 stills and particularly video needs light control -- via ND filters and CPLs
🙌🙌🙌
Thanks for watching
Glad to see your GAS has been temporarily relieved
📷🤣🤙
Hey now, I been sitting on the cash for this lens for like, a year and a half.
@@ZWadePhoto I could go on with this GAS thing, but just congrats! Looks like a splendid lens.
haven't seen your vids in a while. glad you are doing well.
Thanks my friend. Had some things going on in life that I needed to pull back from youtube a bit to deal with. See you more soon.
Congrats! Enjoyed using the old manual 135 f2, this new Z version looks awesome.
Thanks for watching my dude!!
If they made them with metal, then people will complain of them being heavy, smh lol
I know they would. They don't want something that can be passed down to their kids anymore, or can survive tripping over a light stand like I did and trashed my light hahaha.
@@ZWadePhoto LOL yeah, I'm with you, I prefer them being made of metal or don't mind them being heavy.. another thing could be the cost.. maybe they don't want to go bankrupt if they don't sell enough lenses, them being made of metal can be costly and also bad for the environment... just two thoughts that came to my mind right now..
They would also be more expensive, and you already know how much people love to complain about that lol... imagine an 800mm made of metal lol... that would cost like $25k lol...
And isn’t plastics the worst environmental mistake destroying our planet at this moment? Well yes it is ! Nothing I can think of is destroying our planet faster . Second is over fishing and dredging our oceans with giant “Plastic Nets” another story.
I’m for the top of the line Nikon products having metal internal moving and functional parts . The plastics over time loose oils , get brittle, break and cannot be replaced by Nikon .
All the lens mounts of the lenses about the plastic cheapO’s should be brass with chrome . That’s just a proper professional build . Lasting and replaceable and precision.
You received yours quickly! Mine is coming with NPS priority, but it won't be delivered until Wednesday this week.
Regarding the metal exterior of the Plena, I'll never know for sure, but I'm curious if the decision to use metal on the outside was more of a marketing choice. I recently watched a teardown of the Nikon 24-70 2.8 S, which has a plastic exterior but a metal structure inside, (metal internal gears and components). There's another teardown of a Sony 24-70, which features a metal exterior but plastic gears on the inside. Strangely, Nikon received criticism for their lens feeling like plastic. 🤔
@@isaiasanchez1987 Thanks, that’s very kind of you. I should be on the lookout for your channel to have sample images posted within 30 minutes to an hour of you receiving the lens?
That's very uncommon for a preorder to beat an NPS order. I guess the stores and Nikon had plenty to go around this time. If they have unexpected demand it usually has priority to NPS. Thanks for watching and congrats!

85 f1.2 all day
Want to know how it will compare to the legendary 105mm 1.4e
I didn’t have a TON of experience with that lens. Shot it on a couple of occasions. So hopefully when I get my images up it will help you decide!
@@ZWadePhoto Thanks man, I'll pick my 105 1.4e soon (I purcheaded it before the lauch of the plena), but hope I can test the plena, and IF a like it more, how knows.. I can make the upgrade
I have the 85 1.2 love it. Just ordered the 135 plena.
@@tomingrassiaimages8776 you’ll love it too 👀🤙🤙
At 6:00 you’re exactly right about the play in the lens mount. This drives me nuts. This problem actually compounds once you have FTZ adapter. With adapter and my old 200-500 I would sometimes have enough play to trigger the camera into dropping the viewfinder image or at least hear a clicking noise like the VR was shutting off and on again. Since the 200-500 has a long turn on the zoom, I’d be turning on the lens a lot and this would sometimes with the looseness of the mount cause the camera to freak out. Totally unacceptable. There’s some play with my z mount glass although less since no adapter.
Thanks for helping in the algos! Petition for Nikon to tighten tolerances.
I also have been waiting for the 135mm Z mount lens. I resisted the desire to pre-order or order it at this point. I shoot the 200mm f2 a bunch over the last 8 months since I purchased a used copy. Heavy, awkward, but amazing images (transition zones, color output). The weight reduction is welcome (and a bit closer to subject). So curious to see the images and hear your thoughts. I had to laugh (weight for it ;-) ) and loving metal lenses - of course since I mentioned the 200mm f2. I suppose if that was too much metal, you could always 180mm f2.8 it - oh, weight - Nikon doesn't yet have (nor likely to have) a FTZ adapter for screw drive lenses. Waiting for your images. Enjoy!
We are in same place ,I have the 85 1.2,105 1.4 and then the 200mm f2 . Am on the fence on this 135 ,I have to see a direct comparison with the 200 before I can decide anything, but beating or even remotely matching the 200mm f2 will be a long shot.
a Z version of a 180mm is on my wish list. the 180mm D is one of my all time favorite lenses from any manufacturer. Of course i doubt it'll be a 2.8, and I doubt it'll be cheap....
@@ZWadePhoto I shot the 180 (also purchased used) f2.8 a lot before getting the 200mm f2. Yes, it was perhaps my favorite as well (although I'm very much an amateur). I know why you liked it. I think a Z version of the 180mm actually makes more sense than a 200mm f1.8 Z/S. Not sure where they would go with it - and not likely a PLENA version. 180mm f2? for round about $2,300? Time will tell. Thanks for your input.
@@OkwyUgonweze Stay in touch. Trust me, I know what you are talking about. My only issue, really, with the 200mm f2 is the weight. The 135mm f1.8 is attractive because it is more portable and less attention gathering. What I love about the 200mm f2 is that from the distance I shoot portraits with it (albeit further than I want) - even with shallow DOF, both eyes are in focus and much of the face - and it has dimensionality to the images - and not every lens can do that. So for me, I want to see the smooth transition zones of foreground and background, the DOF of the portrait, and if the lens can give that dimensionality/depth in the image. If it can, it's going to be begging my wallet to open the door.
@@dance2jam I am with you.
Noticed few OB for sale at B&H the other day. Wonder why people are sending them back?
Buyer remorse? Realize that 85mm fits in more places 🤷♂️
First, congrats 🎉 second, portraits and headshots with complex backgrounds please so we can see the rendering 🙏
Absolutely my friend! We'll do it right.
Nice Z! Thanks for not shooting a series of videos with this asking people to figure out what it is. 🤣
HAHAHA. I thought that was a cool idea, until I had to sift through my videos to figure out which ones needed the title changed to 26mm f/2.8 after the reveal, then it dawned on me that there are video's with outros saying, GUESS THE LENS in the comments. A ill though out bit, I assure you it won't happen again. lol.
I just bought the Pleana, it's pure perfection. "MAYBE" NIKON will release a 35mm 1.2.....MAYBE
A rumor I saw said that they had some issues with it. Might end up being a 1.4 or 1.1. Which is stupid. lol I think Nikon can do 1.2 I’m ready for it
👍 looks like a killer lens
Still in testing! I'll no more soon!
You got here 2 jewels… but at what price !!! Honnestly I regret the time of the 105 and 135 dc… they were expensive too but not this level. It seems that due to the big decrease of volumes of sales in photo equipment(thx mr IPhone) , brands are now selling their best items at unreachable price for normal users. It s a pity. Fortunately the second hand market is huge :).
That does seem to be the case. Combine that with the brands needing to regain the money spent on the sudden rapid surge and not slowing down demands of technology and we are looking at high prices for the foreseeable future...eek.
Do you think the version 2 of the 50mm f/1.2 and the 85mm f/1.2 will be Plena lenses? There may be a 200mm f/2 coming out soon. I like the 200mm focal length for portraits when I wasn't really good separation from the background. By the way, how is Chuck? I know he had something come up and has not been able to have his channel going for some time now. I hope everything is ok with him. We miss him and his channel. Ask these cameras and lenses coming out and he's not here to discuss it. Real bummer.
I don't think new versions will be Plena. I think that will be a unique name and specialty like the Noct. Something special and specific. But I wouldn't be surprised to see a newer version of those lenses have a Different name making them an "Exotic" like the Plena and Noct. But what do I know! haha.
I image at some point we will see a 200mm. The F mount is a tough one to beat, I bet it will be outrageously expensive.
I'm not heavily involved with that community and have been doing my own thing as of late, so I'm not sure how Chuck is. From what I've heard, he is getting better and I hope for continued improvement. In the meantime you can still catch a Saturday Night livestream with Jeff at "Selective Imagery" on RUclips.
Thanks for watching!
@@ZWadePhoto thank you. I didn't know Jeff had a live stream going. I figured someone did. I will check it out.
I do mind a lot about size and weight when hiking, I have the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM at 950 g (2.09 lb), 90 mm (3.54″)x127 mm (5″) Lens which is slightly smaller and lighter in weight than the Nikon 135mm 1.8 at 995 g (2.19 lb),98 mm (3.86″)x140 mm (5.51″), in 2023 I got the excellent Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 110mm 2.5 at 771 g, 99.7 x 78.4mm which is smaller and lighter than the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM, the Voigtländer is sharper at 2.5 and 2.8 than the Sony, when I went over many of my images taken with the Sony I found out that nearly all image was between aperture 2.8 and 5.6, so now I rarely use the Sony, but I enjoy the Voigtländer very much ! By the way I do not like Lenses that do not have an aperture ring.
I dig Voigts🤙
Yup the new pouches for the Nikon a glass is terrible. When I sold my 200-500 and bought the 180-600 I was tempted to keep the 200-500 pouch.
Thanks for helping in the algos! Nikon branded socks am I right?
@@ZWadePhotoyup
They should have named the 85 ‘Mythos’
ooooo I dig that. It definitely deserves a name
Nice lens by NayKon.
