Who knows though it could just mean he returns in a Flashback or something but that would be a letdown. The fact his name is on the cast list makes me sure he survived. I think Gi Hun will team up with him to stop the games which is my theory on Season 2 we definitely know the games will be played again. In the film Battle Royal it focus on a group of High School students or High School class like a homeroom who are thrown on desert island and then forced to fight until only one survives. Then in the sequel Battle Royale II: Requiem it focuses on the survivor of the original Battle Royal who has now become an international terrorist intending to bring down the Japanese government that allow the Battle Royal to happen.
It would be cool if they did a flashback to the initial squid games and just see some of the stuff from the past, specially since pretty much everyone from the first one died, there’s not like a ton of different storylines to go on or character arc would be cool to see some of the old stuff
