The quality of their sound this early sound's like late to mid season. This is insane how clean they are.
There’s Jonz then there’s everyone else. By season end this book is gonna cook.
To be fair. It's preheating right now. This is dope.
What i love about SCV is their excersizes are basic and straight to the point. They don't have some flashy and funky warmup sequence like other groups. They don't plan on winning in the lot, they prepare to win on the field.
SCV signature style. A blend of quality, quantity and class. Don’t ever change 🏆
It’s too bad they felt some bizarre need (like most of DCI now) to lose their beautiful visual identity for the sake of faddish, silly-looking pajamas.
This whole thing would’ve looked absolutely awesome in the real, crisply classy Vanguard uniforms, with the legendary Aussie hats.
But…oh well. We’re supposed to just never say anything, because some video-game-raised kid will get offended at the idea of criticism.
There is some precision in that drum crew so tight that it is inseparable

I know this is gonna sound weird, but I respect that they put the tall kid in a position to really play - instead of gravitating to the "level snares visually" thing. Dig.

@@jacobcantor2597 Agreed - but the effort still exists. I always see tons of kids playing on drums that are too high or too low.

I marched in Cadets 89-91 in the snare line. We had our drums so uncomfortably low in 91 to accommodate wearing the other 10 tenors (yeah, we had 15). So glad the tall guy gets to comfortably drum!
As a tall drummer myself who’s had to deal with the leveling bullshit twice I couldn’t agree more
I played in drum corps in the late 90s, and ive always hated the way warm up exercises got soooooo complicated over the years. I love that scv is returning to the basics of clean and amazing.
Classic rennick writing, and it sounds amazing as always. I hear some phrases from 2018 and 2019 mixed in there.

The musicality in Paul's writing right from the jump with that perfectly executed crescendo and all the tasty beats. And this is how you win more Sanfords.
Those folks sound great. They play so well together. Paul Rennick is one of the best caption heads in the business.

it almost follows the exact same structure, bar for bar. I get tired of how formulaic some of the writing becomes from these battery arrangers but if it's between this and scojo/dave glyde I'm taking this every day
thats not to say this line isn't scary clean for july, I just like to see arrangers take more chances and you can usually spot a rennick book from several miles away

Great writing as always and just stellar and oh so musical execution for so early. Saw some truly ill informed troglodyte commenters say this book is easy. Wtf, love to see them attempt it. Slammin’ line. Then there’s the front ensemble. Lordy, so good.

Are those a new model of Dynasty snares? Seems like they’re completely free floated like Pearls and Ludwig now. I also saw on the SCV Instagram the drums this year are have stave shells as well? Is Paul cooking something up with Dynasty or are these one offs?
yeah he designed these for this season. i do believe he’s leaning more towards the new shells being permanent bc now they’re one solid piece of wood instead of a multiple ply laminate.

the judges literally said they were cleaner, they lost because of content scores. Make sure to check the recaps and know how to read them

The sound quality of the Dynasty snare drums are much better this year than the 2022 snare drums. I have not seen such similarity in playing style and stick control in SCV’s snare line since 2014.
