Caring about the overlap is the difference between mediocre work and great work. Well done

Thank you Rob. I have a couple of epoxy ‘enhancements’ I need to do later this week that have some small colors. The overlays should work great!

I’d love to see a video on this epoxy inlay method using a laser.

I would love to demonstrate a method but haven't figured one out that would be the same. Unfortunately, can't laser in epoxy because it can be poisonous. There may be other techniques, will have to think about what I might be able to do.

@@RobSandstromDesigns I was thinking about pouring the individual pieces with the appropriate colors. Then outline everything including a border and cut out (like a stained glass window), add to the backer and add the colored pieces, then remove outline piece but not the border. Then fill the outlines with a colored epoxy.
If you played with kerf you could create the pieces to fit exactly and then add to a backer with a border and then pour clear to finish and seal.

@@sharonsimonson5392 that may work. I have used epoxy with my laser in the past in a few limited cases - similar to what you are sharing. If you decide to go down that path, you would want to use real hardwoods vs. plywoods/veneers. My experience in using plywood with laser jobs and epoxy pours is during the finishing of the epoxy - to get the sheen and results for finish - it is hard to avoid not sanding off the veneer of the plywood. If you used solid hardwoods that may be able to be avoided.

@@RobSandstromDesigns Thanks! Could you do a video on how to adjust the kerf, so that the pieces will fit together exactly without the spaces? I’ve watched many videos about kerf and I get it for things with tabs and slots, but can’t seem to get it using the offset kerf feature, which I believe is what you need to accomplish it!

@@sheldondrake8935 I’m afraid I don’t quite see it as unpatriotic at all or I wouldn’t have made the tray. But we each have our own perspectives. This flag stands for us each having that right. As for the comment about sneakers I have no idea what you’re talking about. Thank you for taking to comment.
