After JERRY GARCIA came out of his two week coma, he lost his ability to play the guitar. When attending a LOS LOBOS concert, the guys in LOS LOBOS invited JERRY GARCIA to get up on the stage and perform with them. That LOS LOBOS show was the first time JERRY GARCIA picked up a guitar and played in public, after his devastating illness. JERRY GARCIA said his brain was still "mushy". Also, in that performance, GARCIA played a guitar not his own. JERRY GARCIA was known for not playing guitars that were not his own. This is the second time LOS LOBOS invited JERRY GARCIA to get up on the stage and perform with them. It's great in a lot of ways. The boys in LOS LOBOS are great guys and friends with JERRY GARCIA, truly concerned with his ability to play the guitar and perform, again. Also, as JERRY GARCIA is fluent in Spanish, the guys get GARCIA to sing LA BAMBA and other tunes in Spanish - which is a rarity. Thanks for the great upload‼ There's an upload of JERRY GARCIA playing on the same stage with CELIA, TITO PUENTES and CARLOS SANTANA. GARCIA was a humble guy and usually is laid back in performances with other musicians not of his own bands. JERRY GARCIA lets it rip when he's playing with his bands, THE JERRY GARCIA BAND and THE GRATEFUL DEAD.
Thanks for adding that! Jerry was forced to get clean following his first coma after the DC shows- something that was rare unfortunately in the last 10yrs of his life. He looked happy here which makes me happy…

Loving how no rehearsal but right there on the fly Jerry finds the solo in each tune and whoomp there it is, sweet as can be! They even instantly cooked up a nice little segue Bayou>Suzy Q. What good work and amazing luck this unlikely recording was made and is available here!
Jerry probably didn't have one of his customs with him so he borrowed the Gold Top. Loved the Monterey Laguna Seca shows with Los Lobos in 88. Great fun! Hidalgo on West LA Fadeaway!
Oh frock! Jerry on a goldtop!!!! I once interviewed him on the phone- & i asked him if he’d ever want to play an old black( or other ) les paul like in 70 - ? And he said “ no i’d probably sound like albert collins” -or the like he mighta said albert king- collins didn’t play an lp....
David was the only guy who could have been the guy to replace Jerry, but he had too much love for Los Lobos. But he was clearly a Jerry fan as they played each others songs.
You know there's a quotient that rock bands have I guess I'll call it the rock quotient the dead have a rock quotient that can stem either from seven to way over 10 10 being the highest but Los lobos can range around the 9:00 and 10:00 and above Mark for sure the couple times I've seen lost lobos I dropped my jaw and had trouble keeping it up I mean this band can rock
