This made me so emotional, I’m crying rn. You’re such a wonderful storyteller, and it is true because of the way you moved myself and I’m sure many others. “When your young all you wanna do is grow up as fast as you can. But once your an adult you start chasing moments that make you feel young again.” Never heard truer words than this, you said it best Jenn. I wish I had more time with my grand folks, but time is truly a thief andthe chance to spend such precious moments when you can with family should be grabbed with every oppurtunity. Thank you for sharing your trip with us. 💜
When I studied abroad in South Korea for a year, I was placed in a very small town similar to that of Goseong (고성). The town I lived in is named Haman (함안). When I learned I would be placed here and the other exchange students would live in larger towns such as Changwon (창원), Gimhae (김해), and Busan (부산), I was sad. Sad that I wouldn't experience city life or have experiences that the other exchange students would. But instead - I ended up having a greater experience than any of them! I traveled to surrounding cities, went strawberry and watermelon picking with my host parents, developed close relationships with my classmates and neighbors in town, went to amusement parks, museums, and so much more. This experience taught me that less really is more and that places such as Goseong (고성) and Haman (함안) are just as amazing as any big city. I'm glad you got to experience the best of both world in Korea, welcome back 😊💗
This made me emotional for some reason. Thank you for sharing this with us Jen and I’m glad you got to visit your family in Korea with your parents. This video makes me want to go on a trip with my parents, back to their hometown and to really spend more time with them. A beautiful and great video as always!
It’s been 20 years since my dad visited Mexico, and I just visited after letting 10 years passby too. I wonder what it could be like when we visit together… it’s weird i’m more familiar with his home country than he is, yet he’ll always know it more than I can. This is such a beautiful montage of moments and words!
My dream is to visit Korea with my family. Growing up Korean American, I wasn’t taught the language and didn’t get the chance to bond with any Korean relatives, I feel like I was cheated out of a family. Watching this made me smile, I’m so happy you were able to have this experience, I pray one day I will to.
It made me tear up the part where you talked about love overcoming language barriers. I do the same-I speak in the simplest terms until they understand me. And then we all laugh together :)
I think you are gradually mastering the art of story telling using concepts, this is truly beautiful. I struggle too with family but this was like a fresh breath if air.
Did not think this video would make me so emotional but here I am in tears lol this really resonated with me. I’m also first gen, understand the language better than I can speak it, and am at an age where im craving a more meaningful relationship with my parents and family in the homeland. So inspiring to see how fulfilling it was for you. Maybe it’s time I make a trip back home too 💜
This video really resonates with me. I’m currently on a trip with my parents to their home town in Vietnam. We visited my grandparent’s graves, went to family gatherings and spent a lot of time together and everything you felt on your trip I’ve felt too 😊
This was so beautiful and touching, I can totally relate. My parents are from China and growing up I've also always had a tense relationship with them, still working on it now at 33 years old. I too hope to one day travel to their hometown with them and have a healing trip, like yours. Your videos are so incredibly beautiful to watch, and I was getting misty-eyed watching and listening to you. You've inspired me to venture beyond Seoul when I get to visit Korea for the first time (hopefully soon!) All my love to you and your loved ones!
the Korean countryside is so beautiful and I rarely see people talk about it! I visited Yeong-wol and it was one of the best places I have ever been - I felt like I was in a Studio Ghibli movie! It was very easy to just take the bus there, even as a tourist who doesn't speak Korean
i cried….. this is probably one of the best videos that captures all the good memories and it brought a lot of happiness and tears. thank you creating this video, absolutely stunning.
You seem really comfortable and relaxed in 시골 with your fam😌 I felt you through the whole video as a Korean myself! + Korean fans are waiting for a fan meetup🥺
Your creativity is unreal. The way you weaved in your family stories into the travel and what you are learning was amazing. Your aunt and uncle’s farm is a dream.
Been watching your videos for what feels like more than a decade now. At the age of 27, I feel like I've grown up with your voice and your thoughts and watching this video has made me tear up. Absolutely love you Jenn. Thank you for being you and making these videos and being vulnerable with us. Suddenly reminded of the time you cracked your tooth and cried on instgram which triggered a similar reaction in me. Lots of love!!
Yet again another video of yours that makes me tear up bc your ability to tell your story is so intimate. I love your take on “love beating language barriers”. It can be really uncomfortable to try to engage, but I’m so happy that you did. Often times we hear that we’re not (insert ethnicity/culture) enough based on how much of the language we can speak and it can be so discouraging. Instead, I think it’s just as important to make effort or time to spend with our family members of all generations, listening, and remembering their stories. You look so happy and fulfilled, Jenn! 🥹
Wow... I'm a Korean living in Changwon and my mom and dad are from Goseong.. I feel so connected to you to have something unexpected to have in common!
this is so beautiful, Jenn! I was tearing up when you were going through the ups and downs about you and your Appa. I'm so inspired by your trip and thoughts. Also very proud of you for taking these steps to be closer to your family and relatives. Much love!
Love this Jenn ! You're a true inspiration to the younger generation 😊 We all take for granted the times we spend with our families. Creating a meaningful bond with them is something very important in our lives and should be cherished.
Omg Jenn, what a beautiful video!😭 this is a prime example of why I looove long form content and hope it never goes away. Thank you for inspiring me to get more connected with my family!
Jenn, you have such a cinematographer's eye! You make real life feel like a movie. What an amazing way to store memories and be able to come back to them a few years from now. Please, keep making these long format videos ❤
As I'm korean, it's so glad that Jenn came to Korea!! Recently, I have been studying English with your video. When I watch your videos, there are many things that I can relate to and there are many good English expressions that I can use right away. I always appreciate that. I gonna add this video for my practice list
Jenn, this video made me very emotional for some reason. I was totally immersed in your storytelling and seing you connect with your family and with Korea is really beautiful to see. I'm so glad that you grew closer with your dad in the past years it really warms my heart and I hope to see more Korea vlogs in the future ! Your videos are always great honestly and this one felt very special
This has probably the most realistic Korean lifestyle shots of all the korean videos I have watched on yt. The family gathering, the food, that's the real life. Idk but it was nice to not see the big cities, but life outside of those cities. I live in Korea for 5 years now so I know what om talking about haha
I'm German-Korean, my mom's family-side is from Gyeongju. I could relate to so many things you said. 🥹 Thank you for your beautiful vlog and great storytelling ❤
Your video made me want to cry! I have the exact same sentiments about my parents being their oldest child yet the forever the youngest in their eyes 🥺 Glad you had such a memorable trip with your parents!
I honestly felt the most myself and my happiest when I was living in Korea. Watching this vlog just brought back so many memories and hopes that were burried and I just started to randomly cry ^^' Korea really has a lot to offer, and Korean culture is just so much more than just kpop, kdrama or a trendy lifestyle in Seoul (things I still love, but you know) ❤
What a beautiful story, seeing your family eating together around the table at the end was so touching. Glad you got to have this time together. Thanks for sharing!
I don't know why this made me so emotional. I think we're in the same place right now. I appreciate my parents so much while in my teenage years I was a handful!
This video is stunningly made and made me emotional. Jen, I am so happy for you and this introspective trip. We all deserve that moment of intense healing from childhood trauma and conflicts with parents/relatives. I adore that farm and food looks delicious, if they want to adopt me I can work there forever 😅
This video is sooo comforting and it’s like a good reminder for me to appreciate every little moment in my life and that my mundane life is a blessing 💗
This video made me so emotional, especially the part about your dad. I can wholeheartedly relate to that part, my relationship with my dad is so whole and filled with great talks and wisdom. So thankful. And thanks for this video I really need a good cry today. :)
Thank you Jenn for thoughtfully sharing these intimate moments in your life - for being a beacon of light and love to all of us. Been following you since the very beginning of clothesencounters and seeing you evolve (as I evolve) has been such a blessing. Keep being you! Love you always x
These days I'm so stressed when dealing with lots of messy stuff but after watching this healing video I feel like I'm recharging myself -my battery. Thank you for an amazing trip, an amazing recap for this trip. Thank you :333
Hey Jenn! I enjoyed this video very much: I am so glad you visited Korea with your parents and had a great time. Your grandparents' story made me cry. Your mom is so strong going through all that far away from home. Hope you and your family are all doing well and hope you visit Korea again soon! x
Wow, this video really made me emotional(no kidding, i cried couple times while watching). I think it's partly because I'm living abroad right now and homesickness hitting hard:) And partly because storytelling and video itself made so sincerely, so honest. Thank you for your videos, they always make me think and appreciate life more(sorry for errors, English not my first language but i understand the struggle with speaking and understanding that you described in video fully).💌
Oh man, another video by Jenn that has me in my feels. Love it! I never met my grandparents in Nigeria, too, and it's a part of me that makes me sad. I find comfort in my husband's grandparents and I know they are looking upon us with smiles. Beautiful video, sis! ❤
I simply love this !! Jenn's storytelling, filming and editing is authentic, heart-warming and carries you away 🥰 I just love the energy of your videos so much, they are so soothing !!
Love this long form content. I agree with the repetition part, it feels so rewarding whenever I go for a walk after being at my desk all day. So happy you got to connect to your roots and building memories with your parents as well.
This video is so beautiful and relatable. Thank you for making this video. I am traveling to Taiwan, where I grew up, in just a few days! I haven’t gone back for three years so I am super excited to spend time with my loved ones.
Beautiful editing and story telling! You are always so creative but this felt like another step up in how it was put together! I totally resonated with your feelings shared here. I just did a first solo trip without kids back to Taiwan to spend time with my family and it was so nice to connect with relatives and family without the chaos of my kids 😅. Our parents and relatives are getting older and the time spent together just gets more precious! ❤
It's amazing how I can resonate with your videos. I'm 36 and I feel the same with my parents and life in general. I've come to understand them more compared to the angry teen and young adult self. My own teen is now like, "I feel like your life is boring" and this tells me that I've matured in just wanting repetition in my life. I just replied with "as you grow older, maybe you'll see it differently". :) all my moms side is over in Korea, maybe I should go visit again some day. Thanks for sharing your experience!
This was a very calm and happy video, but I got so emotional! The storytelling, and editing is so peaceful and sweet. I was really absorbed into your journey and loved that i got to see a piece of your experience. Thank you for always sharing your life and insight with us!
Aww this episode of Jenn’s life made me so emotional.😭 It so happened that I’m about to embark on a two-months trip to Russia to meet my family for the first time since the pandemic started (I currently live in China so that explains why), and I both wanted and dreaded this trip. However, now I feel like I want to make this trip as meaningful as Jenn made hers. Thank you Jenn, you’re such an inspiration!❤❤❤
2 minutes in, and I'm in tears. Ah, I miss my parents so much! Thanks again for putting out the most inspiring video. I should call my parents and tell them I miss them and I love them.
I went on a trip recently to visit my mom's side of the family in Vietnam. I wish I would've thought about these things that you did in the video before and during my stay there and been more present. This was such a wonderful video and I am glad that you had a great time in Korea.
Beautiful vlog, cinematography and love the box of photographs, such originality. Brought a tear my eye seeing you reconnect with your Korean family and country.
Thank you for sharing about your newly found relationship with your dad. That was so heartwarming. It's wonderful that you're prioritizing mending relationships with your family while you can. This vlog was absolutely perfect.
Hi Jenn, watching your korean trip video actually made me tear up. Your story reminds me how important it is to spend quality time with family and know more about their past. Thanks for sharing this with us and I am really glad that you had great time in Korea!
Just a beautiful video. Thank you for sharing. Its a great reminder of the importance of family and really taking advantage of enjoying each others company instead of focusing on our imperfections.
Absolutely loved this so much!!! Brings back so many memories of my trip home as well… time is precious indeed and it is best when spent with loved ones… no one is getting any younger… thank you for this wonderful, wonderful, heartfelt documentary 💗💗
omg jenn i am CRYING at a co-working session watching this. i did not expect to be so emotional! ahhh! i'm also at the point in my life (mid-30s) where my parents are no longer my enemies, but FRIENDS i want to know, and understand. it's so crazy how we spend so much of our lives resenting them, only to have that grace on them later. AUGH. this spoke so deeply to me. #cryingindaclub also, looove seeing the quality and storytelling of your videos go up and up and uppp from VCC!! Excited you're teaching again this summerrr -ché
This video evokes a range of emotions within me. It brings me joy and a sense of tranquility, but at the same time, it also evokes sadness. Your video-making skills are truly impressive, and you have a remarkable ability to capture such diverse emotions. UFFFFFF!!!
And, as I get older, I really appreciate the ritual of jesa for our ancestors. As a medium, I can attest to the fact that they are still very much alive despite not being in physical form.
Jenn this was my favorite of your recent videos. I felt the growth, the love, and maturity behind staying ~present~. Love for family despite cultural boundaries and language misses. Your photos are just so so beautiful and nostalgic! PS. what camera did you use to take them?
Ahh! The long awaited Korea vlog is finally up! Thanks again to Ritual for sponsoring this video! I love their vitamins because they always use the highest quality ingredients. Remember to click here ritual.com/JENNIM20 for 20% off your first month!
Did u live in korea?
The storytelling and edits are so good! Glad you had a great time in Korea!
Aww thanks Mai! Yes, it was such an incredible trip! 🥰
I would disagree, SHOW DON'T TELL would be my advice, too much narration, very little actual engaging footage for the viewer
Jenn 🫶🏽 the artistry and love you put into your videos, wow! It’s so inspiring. Thanks for sharing lil snippets and reflections from your trip ✨
Awww thank you, Natalie! xx

This was such an immersive experience. What a fabulous video, Jenn! And as hundreds have pointed out already, the storytelling is par excellence.
Oh goshhh, thank you! xx

I always love how you tell your stories! Korea is definitely on my bucketlist 😍
Aww thank you! It's absolutely a destination to cross off your list! 😊
It made me tear up the part where you talked about love overcoming language barriers. I do the same-I speak in the simplest terms until they understand me. And then we all laugh together :)
Same here, made me also cry 🥹
I think you are gradually mastering the art of story telling using concepts, this is truly beautiful. I struggle too with family but this was like a fresh breath if air.
Your storytelling is the best. It always has me in tears 😭 I’m glad you had a healing trip in Korea 🥰
젠 언니 한국어할때 너무 좋아ㅠㅠㅠㅠ
So glad you had a lovely time ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
The part about Joan is so moving makes me wanna cry 😢 followed both you and her for a long long time,

Why thank you, Michelle! 🥹♥️
i cried….. this is probably one of the best videos that captures all the good memories and it brought a lot of happiness and tears. thank you creating this video, absolutely stunning.
For me the highlights of the video so far are the storytelling skills you have and the editing!
Wow thank you, Mihaela! 🤍
You're just a great storyteller and I would never not be inspired after watching anything from you! Thank you so much!

I love your narration in every video, especially since this time has touched the depths of my heart. Well done Jenn❤
What an amazing video. The story telling, the feelings I felt, the cinematography. Great job!

Ohhhh Jenn, you talking about your dad and your relationship with him made me cry! So beautiful and relatable ❤
Ms. Jenn, really have the word for it. This feels so close to home. Love.

This was amazing! The editing was perfect
I enjoyed watching this so much! The STORYTELLING wow 🥹💖

Thank you for sharing about your newly found relationship with your dad. That was so heartwarming. It's wonderful that you're prioritizing mending relationships with your family while you can. This vlog was absolutely perfect.
Smaller cities in Korea are so charming! Thanks for sharing, beautiful insights ♡
I got so emotional watching the part about you with your dad, it reminds me of my dad who passed away 3 years ago. I miss him and the moment with him.

#cryingindaclub
also, looove seeing the quality and storytelling of your videos go up and up and uppp from VCC!! Excited you're teaching again this summerrr

This video evokes a range of emotions within me. It brings me joy and a sense of tranquility, but at the same time, it also evokes sadness. Your video-making skills are truly impressive, and you have a remarkable ability to capture such diverse emotions. UFFFFFF!!!

I can totally relate to your facial expressions and sounds you made when you're interacting with your Korean relatives. It's very Korean. 😊
I love how she takes her photos also! I would love to know what camera she uses as well.

This was so touching, Jenn! Thank you for sharing.
