A tip before you go to the pool is to saturate the girl's hair with water! This prevents the hair from being damaged/soaked in chlorine! I learned this just a couple of years ago so I wanted to pass it on to you. I hope it is helpful!

It really makes a big difference! Also for swimsuits - they'll last longer if you take a shower in your swimsuit before hopping in the pool!

I love how she integrates Tiger into the culture. Despite Caucasian hair typically not needing (though it will surely benefit from the care) as much care as curly/textured hair, it's amazing that you put as much care into Tigers hair and work to keep it looking nice the same as your other children. Its amazing that learned to care for her hair type and you are an A++++ mom. Tiger will remember these times and remember being careful for the same as her sisters and absolutely love her mom for also taking care of her.

I have similar hair to Tiger's, and one thing I've learned over the years of doing overnight styles is that it's actually easier to braid while dry. First I put in the products, let the hair dry almost entirely, then braid or twist, and lastly spray it down with water and hairspray, then sleep in a cap/bandana/scarf. When stringy hair gets wet, it is soooo hard to keep it detangled while trying to braid.
Thank you for providing such a loving and nurturing environment for your children. You are an angel on Earth 💓

I was thinking the same thing. I have fine straight hair and styling/braiding it wet is just harder. It'll sit messy, get knots, and it takes forever to dry.

I was thinking the same when I saw it. My hair is completely the opposite of this (I’m 4b/4a) but I could see the the straight hair looked tangled as Mama was braiding it wet. I’m sure dry hair, like you said, would be easier to manage.

    • @jenniesmythe8188
      @jenniesmythe8188 11 месяцев назад +2

i think she did it wet so that it would be wavy otherwise braiding after its dry then rewetting might not get all the areas way bc all areas wouldnt get the water.

I don't know about the other girls, but for Tiger, have her wet her hair before getting in the pool. It will prevent so much chlorine from getting into the strands. I had very light brown hair when I was a kid and it turned green from being in the pool several times a week! They do make shampoos specifically formulated for chlorine removal as well. :)

My hair is most like Tiger's, but now that I'm an adult the littlest bit of humidity makes me frizz up like a poodle! When I was a kid my mom used to do pin curls in my hair before special occasions. I came out looking like Shirley Temple. It's really lovely seeing you do all the girls hair and teach them about how to take care of it and do different things to get different looks. The ultra curly bangs are adorable! Just for the record my dad brushed my hair (no complicated styling) when I was little to give my mom time to get ready. I'm sure these girls' daddy can wield detangling spray/ leave in conditioner and a detangling brush. It creates some nice together time with Dad when you can talk about stuff.

I get why at this age you would be not wanting to do pool trips even twice a week. But Panda can handle his hair. Tiger and Badger are now old enough to start learning to take care of their hair with supervision and some help. Just make sure everyone's hair is wet before they get in the pool. It helps. For Tiger, try an apple cider rinse before she gets into the pool. Her light hair color is in danger of turning green due to the chemicals, depending on where you're swimming. Hair needs to be washed before it dries, for everyone.

  • @kyleeadams123

You've been doing this a while so if you already know this awesome but if not-
Blonde hair can actually start to turn a greenish hue with long term chlorine exposure. I'm loved your post swim care routine, if your kiddos ever get into swimming for a club or team make sure to pre treat their hair with fresh water and wearing swimming caps. This is also true for your Biracial babies as you know how fragile hair is if not properly moisturized.
Also your post moisture care for tiger is some of the best I've ever seen! ❤️

As others have said, wetting hair with fresh water before and after swimming is very helpful. If you don’t have access to an outdoor shower, you could bring a spray bottle of water or detangler. After your hair is wet, apply a natural oil such as coconut or olive oil to create a barrier to stop the hair from absorbing chlorine.

Just a quick tip, if you/your kids have dry scalp or irritated skin on the scalp, try not to use essential oils directly on it, or MAJORLY dilute it. Especially in the summer when sun will be on it. They tend to be very drying and can even burn depending on how sensitive you are. It's even possible to develop sensitivity to essential oils after using them for years.

Have you ever considered using bathing caps for the girls hair to keep it dry? Might save you time and money. When I was little we used to belong to a pool/beach club and they made girls with long hair wear those in the pool to prevent hair from clogging up the drain we weren't crazy about it but it really does keep your hair dry!

Hairdressers knew I was a swimmer as soon as they shampoo'd my hair because it lost the ability to tangle when washed. Chlorine does a number on ya but it's better than bromine pools.
