building an outdoor fireplace (1/2)

I started making an outdoor fireplace before it really got cold.
I don't know how to make it, but I'm going to work with the feeling I imagined, trial and error, and the usual way to go.

fireplace + outdoor cooking place? i thought that wet river stones usually burst when heated.. unless they are picked from a dry river bed along with the dry sand.
