- It's time to do THE BIG CHOP! Can't believe the time has arrived and that I've been transitioning to natural hair for 18 months. I've not seen my natural hair since I was about 9 years old and don't remember much about it, so it's going to be a drastic change going from having long relaxed hair to short natural hair. I'm feeling very nervous, anxious & excited all at the same time. But I'm ready!

Healthy Afro Hair just a little heads up thought you should know or probably do know about already. It may not be wise to use Shea moisturiser at the moment as they have apparently change the formula. For mix race/white hair😬

I commend your bravery. I'm 20 momths post and made up iny mind to do my big chop today. I cut ONE piece and stopped. lol. I'm excited to be 100% natural but seeing that 3-4 inches come off freaked me out. Maybe I'll do it someday soon. Bravo to you!!
Makiya Walker u will know when u are ready to cut it. I'm 9 months in almost 10 post relaxer. I set a goal for a year.(June 22). Hold up, I'm 10 months already lol. I may go longer. Not sure.

I'm at about a year post but I've never had short hair and people always say I look better with long hair so I don't think I'm going to cut it yet.

I started doing relaxer stretches because of you and now I'm at 20 weeks post relaxer, I'm slowly considering whether I should go natural, but I'm nervous as I've always had shoulder length hair so its a HUGE things for me to actually go completely natural. This is great!!! I recently had my hair cut again after being fully natural for nine years. I have not had a relaxer since 2007. Your hair is pretty. Was so pleased to come across your channel the other day while researching conditioners - your videos are so informative and I feel you give really honest reviews on what products you use. I am nearing the end of my transition with about 2 inches of straggly relaxer ends I need to get rid of but too chicken to do it.

As for my skin care routine, nothing major has changed since the last one I did. I think the only product I've stopped using is the 'Simples Cleansing Lotion'. But hopefully in the future, I'll do updates on both routines.

looks great , nice and healthy! Shrinkage can be annoying but it gives our hair that healthy full look. You'll be back to your old length in no time : )

Okay it's been a couple of days ...... how do you *really* feel about your hair. I'm trying to transition I'm 25 weeks post and I think I will truly miss my long hair. I had a huge afro back in the day and I know that won't be possible now. Wish me luck.

It would've been my 24 months post relaxer in May but my hair grew like wildfire. I only had a few straggly pieces in the front of my hair, and one day as I was styling it, I just cut it off. Yes, I get what you mean. To be honest, I’m not too sure, cos I was only a little girl when I got my first relaxer, so didn’t really remember much about my texture. But judging by pictures, I would say it appears the same.

What is transition ing when you dont out any relaxers in the haur and just shampoo and condition and take care if your hair us this right.
+ELSIE JOHNSON It’s when you decide to return back to your natural hair and stop relaxing it. So you can either ‘big chop’ meaning cut off your relaxed ends immediately or you can ‘transition out’ meaning grow out your hair until you feel ready to cut off the relaxed ends.
