    Haven't seen anyone make 252 look so light since prime Lasha. Man Assad can absolutely get that and more. Great to see what Gor and Lalayan were able to do, and just amazing to see what Lasha can do even when he's not at his best. Champion for sure.

    • @esxpirobx9403
      @esxpirobx9403 Год назад +2

      This just show that every athlete that come to Bogotá was in a very sharp form, the effect of the altitude here is ridiculous, even for Colombian athletes that live in other places of the country.

    • @esxpirobx9403
      @esxpirobx9403 Год назад +5

      And something else to consider is how aggresive climate in Bogotá is.
      During the competition we have in the mornings 5 C degrees, at midday 22 Celcius, and at nights something around 7 degrees with hard rain. Getting sick was also a problem for some athletes that underperformed or don't even compete like shi zhiyong.

    I love watching Lasha lift. I have always wondered why or how his large gut helps, or more specific why it does not hurt him? I get the mass in strong man but does his large gut not impede the bar travel?

    • @sqb2
      @sqb2 Год назад +1

      Good question, I was wondering about this myself. I'm no expert on this, but I would say yes, it COULD impede the bar travel if he had not adjusted his lifting style: If you watch some of the slomo-vids of him snatching (ruclips.net/video/nrgnH9fTfGo/видео.html for example), you can see that he a) at the end of the 2nd pull extends at the hips (=moves his torso backwards) quite strong, b) jumps slightly back in the 3rd pull and c) the bar path makes a slight curve around his belly.

      @@finrod55 His name is Giorgi Chincharauli and the post is in Georgian. The summary is basically that he has many small injuries and problems with his joints, like the wrists and knees. His muscle tore a second time and he began to have heart arrhythmia so he had to loose weight and weighed in at 166 kg instead of 180 kg and the aforementioned altitude problems. He also claims that the organizers didn't provide food for the athletes and that they had to live on fast food for their time in Bogota. And the rest was him stating that the people watching only see the results on the stage but they don't know how many hours of hard work and training are behind them.

    @bobbybobman3073 Год назад

    Well given how Lasha came in so light under 170 kg, it makes you wonder what it would be like if they stopped drug testing. Because some worlds strongest men competitors have pushed about 210 kg bodyweight (Brian Shaw claims to have completed at 460 lbs before, and I'd believe it considering he looked noticably bigger than he is now at around 390-410lbs) and I know the Hafthor Julius Bjornsson has weighed over 205kg at points during his strongman career. It would be interesting to see if Lasha could ever get to 200+ kg and be a competitive lifter, or if that weight would impact his bar path too much.

    I question the logic of lifters who are at the top or close to it in a weight category, then gain a bunch of weight to then have no chance of winning as a superheavyweight. Very strange strategy, and the results show it.

      Gor is 5'11, an absolute SLAB of a man. Not sure about Lalayan, but I'd say he's 6ft tops.
