    The announcer stated in Spanish that there was an error in the weight change and it was being corrected. It refers to the Egyptian athlete that was passed over by mistake. That is why the bar went down in weight to correct order of appearance by the athlete with his initial weight.

      Sorhab is the only true anomaly though
      He is the only one in this category that ever was in WR territory in BOTH snatch and clean and jerk
      Lesman can hang with tian and meso in the total, not with sorhab

    What a dramatic session. Of course, Parades outshined everyone, but there were so many heroic attempts here. Athletes struggling with obvious injuries or the altitude and still coming out and giving it everything they had.

    the super strict no press rule takes away from the sport. especially from a viewers perspective... shame

      It means that the bar must go overhead in one smooth motion. Once the lifters feet has touched the ground the elbows should be locked out.

      I appreciate the rule but it seems that there’s too much anatomical diversity in the athletes to judge it fairly.

      I hate that rule, but I can appreciate and understand it. It would just be cool to let it fly and have closer scores.

      agreed! I mean, the crowd cheering and the athlete triumphant over a tough rep? or crickets and "jury review" from nonlifters? i know what id rather see.

    17:40 the thai athlete breathed it into each nostril THEN got some extra into his mouth - i live in thailand, and those are available in many 'flavors' at the 7-11 etc, and they're kind of menthol etc, similar smell to Tiger Balm, but each type has extra scent accents. They are to keep you alert when working, like many people chew gum or something. He wasn't smoking anything lol

      Gravity is poorly conceived theory. It would weigh slightly less because of the density of the air at altitude though but not by much

    How is no one highlighting the fact that Nassar is in a LOWER category and lifted heavier than the 96kg WR CHAMPION?! By Paris 2024 Nassar will lift 230kg😂

    How much is Paredes getting paid by the Arabs to lift for them? Anybody knows? By the way, the most impressive snatcher is Belorussian Andrei Rybakov that made 187.5 kilos at the 2007 world championships.

    y'all should give a little more reverence to the medals won in the individual lifts. The way you refer to them is almost dismissive. Those are legit trophies that all these top level athletes are trying hard to win!!! How many individual lift medals in international competition have you won?

    This category has really a poor level... It just shows how the non-heaviest high weight weightlifting is without the Russian fed...
    Only Lesman is top tier...

      As the 102 and 89 used to be
      Non Olympic categories means that the lower level lifters will be in there to shoot for a medal

      From the IWF site: "Two of China’s top athletes withdrew at the last moment on the day, TIAN Tao (CHN) from the 89kg and SHI Zhiyong (CHN) from the 81kg."

      @@extreame7304 what you mean the "random" who just took shi zhiyong's clean and jerk record. Also tian is no longer a 96, he's an 89 now and not as good (as far as we can tell) as someone like karlos nasar.
