    Dang I thought Rejepow had it there at the end. The clean was just effortless, and the jerk failed so slowly it was painful to see the realization hit before it dropped. Almost had it.

    • @JundRaptor
      @JundRaptor 2 года назад +14

      His strength in the clean is obscene. It looked like he was cleaning a weight 20kg lighter than what was actually on the bar. Even Li had to grind out his 201kg attempts.
      With Lu's future not looking great I hope Rejepow stays in this form and gives Li a close rivalry.

    At 1:40:38 that was a mighty quick down signal from the refs on Li's C&J. I wonder if they were panicking - "quick tell him to put it down or he might drop it on us!" as he was still walking it out toward the end of the platform. He saved it in the end tho, so good lift.

    You know if all these guys had the turnover of Oscar Martinez in the snatch, they would likely be more competitive. I do watch at 2x speed but, at that speed the time from finishing his pull to being under the bar catching it, really is almost the blink of an eye. Truly incredible not unheard of speed, but that is the reminder I think we all need that, technique will get us so much further in this sport than we think. Yes, strength is needed, but to be elite you need skill too.

      @@alistairwillock7266 yes, a lot of people don't really believe how hard it is until you try to do a heavy C&J or a series of snatches and suddenly you are in the ground praying for oxygen. A Coach that was seeing this live, like, behind us in place, said that in a lower place, Rejepov would be able to do that lift, making him the champion. Seeing this again you can see that the guy do the clean, and try to take some air, but find nothing and go for the jerk.

    • @alistairwillock7266
      @alistairwillock7266 2 года назад +4

      _Especially_ at that altitude. It was _sooo_ clear that many athletes had overtrained in the final week. Plus, due to the greater difficulty with cardiovascular recovery at altitude, the right approach is definitely to open lighter, and take bigger jumps, for all weight classes north of W59/M73 or so.
      And what the _hell_ was Bulgaria thinking, flying in Nasar the day before his session?!? Just foolishness.
      So many teams mismanaged their training hall and competition day strategies, due to not understanding the altitude effects.
