If this truly was Tian Tao's final session, then watching him absolutely crush the clean on 226kg has to go down as one of the best final attempts ever.

He's nice but he also missed 181. It looked like he was arpund his max. Nasars lifts just looked easy like he could go up another 10kg

@ericrobinsonjr6788 Not disputing what you said here at all, but it's not at all uncommon for even top snatchers to miss a lift here and there. Even a lift that is well below their capacity. Yes, he missed the 181, but his 182 was so solid and looked effortless. Clearly he has more in the tank.
This is weight lifting in the purest form. In the Olympics countries are stricted are playing safe, while here everyone are giving all out to qualifications. Amazing session this is!

Korea’s Yu Donglu is the guy from the B session who jerked 209 PR on his last attempt to cop 10th place for Paris. He must have put some hex on the bar because none of the 3 guys chasing him made a single snatch. Asayonak at 11 might still get in if China opts for Shi instead of Li Dayin.

Sometimes I watch Nasar and think he should win by 20 kg. Crazy to think he did 180-220 2 or 3 days before this but you gotta do your best when it counts. My guesstimate of likelihood of each Chinese lifter going to Paris- Li Fabin 99%, Gigachad 99%, Shi 80% gotta stay healthy, Li Dayin 20% gotta stay healthy and hope Shi can’t, Tian Tao 2% gotta stay healthy and hope neither Shi and Li Dayin can. Pray for a miracle if you’re a praying man.

I think Lopez can actually make 215 in Cnj and can possibly stand on podium in the Olympics.
He is probably going to get silver at this rate, though it's up to Karlos Nasar if Lopez gets gold or silver.

100% agree with you I think Lopez can do 185kg snatch at the Olympics, just a matter of his c+j.
What makes Karlos special is that he is the only person who can do a 180kg snatch and a 220kg c+j.
Lopez is a legitimate snatch specialist as he snatches > 86% of his cl&jks. It looks he should be able to jerk more however. His lockout is lacking. 215 was an easy clean, he splits his hands wide, has short arms so the bar doesn’t have to travel that far. Looks like a technical issue instead of a lack of strength.
Carlos looks unbeatable. Will china even sent dayin to the olympics?
Shi Zhiyong probably gets sent instead.

Bumper Plate. What do you mean “He never got the chance “? What was this comp all about? I happen to agree with you about Tian has the best chance of beating Nasar but only if everything clicks for him and unfortunately that doesn’t happen very often.
@@JohnDoherty-dl2fz his shoulder surgery came at a bad time, if they woulda let them go at it at paris2024 then I believe that would’ve been his attempt/chance.
I see your point but I don’t know when would have been a good time. If you watched 2023 he made no jerks was in obvious pain. He lifted in Asian games and won but his jerk was relatively light compared to snatch. He was operated on right after and didn’t lift at Dohar or 2024 Asians. There was no good time unless he got it done last summer and they might not have known how bad it was at that point.

Most probably not. Shi Zhiyong in the 73 kg category has a higher probability of taking Gold, let alone getting any medal.
these guys weighing like 200 pounds and putting about 500 pounds above their head is insane. i couldn't even budge one side of that weight with a deadlift

Only Lopez can push him if he does like 186-217 and force Carlos to do like 182-223 to win… those two will be 15 kilos over everyone else…this is why I’m 99% sure China sends shi instead of Li

@@nikz9735 Lopez can't push him. His best clean and jerk ever is 210. Yes the 215 was close, but karlos just made 226 in competition at 90kg. Lopez would need to clean and jerk 220 to put any pressure on karlos, which he just can't do
