    I loved both of these teams so much as a kid. The Nebraska-Missouri rivalry is one of the most unknown, underrated rivalries. The way money has destroyed these rivalries is tragic. Shame on the greedy.

    • @rooh5825
      @rooh5825 3 года назад

      It was never a rivalry to Nebraska, that is the tough thing for people to understand. The rivalry page on Nebraska's wikipedia for instance is ridiculous, twelve different teams listed. That's just stupid.

    • @CarmieSchulz

      @@rooh5825 I have to disagree. I’d say Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas were the teams Nebraska most wanted to cream. Kansas and Missouri fell apart later on so that cooled things for the Huskers.

      Nebraska and Oklahoma, that was it in the Big 8. And that's the only rivalry that Nebraska fans recognize from that era. It's not meant to be insulting. Would you call Nebraska vs Missouri a "rivalry" in basketball???

      @CarmieSchulz 3 года назад

      @@rooh5825 I love talking old time football so I don’t mind if people disagree. I’m not offended but Missouri and Nebraska go way back. In the 1970’s, Tom Osborn was 3-4 against Missouri and would have been 2-4-1 if Warren Powers would have kicked an easy field goal instead of going for a long shot win. In the 1960’s, Missouri-Nebraska was as big as Oklahoma-Nebraska.

      @@CarmieSchulz You are 100% correct. I don't know how big a Husker fan can be if they don't think Nebraska -Mizzou was not a rivalry game. After Oklahoma they were for sure our biggest rivalry in the 60's and 70's. Mizzou made the same mistake as Nebraska did by firing Frank Solich when they fired Warren Powers.

    I was at that game. Missouri's offense had no chance against Nebraska's defense. The only way Missouri was going to score was if Nebraska gave them one. It all came down to whether Nebraska could get a score. They waited until the very end but finally punched one in. My friends and I were happy and relieved to get out of there with a win. GBR!

    Man, what an underrated rivalry, although Husker fans wouldn't admit it. Save the 18-20 years of Mizzou futility, this was a competitive game year in year out. And the two fan bases had no love lost. Mizzou embarrassed and pissed about the losing streak and Husker fans shitting all over Mizzou, those final meetings were intense

    People didn't know that Nebraska's kicker Kevin Seibel, who missed several field goals that day, including the extra point, had been up all night the night before when his baby was sick, and in the hospital. He wasn't at all 100% for the game physically or mentally. My sister was at the hospital (a radiology student) and saw them there.

    Nebraska never recruited top kickers back then and it showed. Never had a kicker who was consistent enough to trust. Those straight on kickers were always 50/50 ......not until recruiting Brown did Nebraska get a great kicker. Having crappy kickers cost them a National Championship......against Florida St.

      @@larson748 Other than the 1984 Orange Bowl, which actually was crooked, the 1994 Orange Bowl vs FSU was the only game I ever watched where I seriously wondered if someone had been paid to ensure a certain outcome. In '84, it was Fryar and at least 1 LB from Miami. In '94, it was the refs. I'm sure a case could be made that they were just honest mistakes, but I'll never know because I've never been able to bring myself to re-watch that game. At the time, though, it felt like Nebraska got absolutely robbed on numerous crucial, huge calls.
