      +Jakey Dubs aka Jake W Haha thanks! That driver was just plain dumb and selfish! I think I may use that clip for a future video all by itself, people need to see that ignorance is not the way to go in emergencies! I was pretty lax going to this one because it came in as a Kitchen Fire and those usually don’t amount to much, if I was hauling like E22 I would have been there like 2mins earlier.

    So you hang around the streets waiting to see a fire truck and men in big hats go by then run after them? Should you be out on your own?

    So about the Toyota, did they get ticketed and I gotta know, are you a current or retired member? If I was to get as close as you do, I'd get hauled to the toombs.

    • @FDNYResponseVideos
      @FDNYResponseVideos  6 лет назад +1

      John Hotarick I’m not sure what eventually happened, but the whole time I was trying to wave that guy on, he was either trying to take the spot in front of the hydrant or was just clueless! After I stopped recording I gave him a little talk! I am not a member but I am good friends with the guys from E22 and L13. Eventually I did get pushed back, but they know me.

    Who pay all new windows, doors, things, etc. that the fire fighter and police officer crashed before? Pay this the department?

    • @Gitika1956
      @Gitika1956 6 лет назад +1

      OldLordSpeedy. God will pay it.

    • @rj4590
      @rj4590 6 лет назад +2

      It's called insurance.The department does not pay;that would be absurd.

    • @OldLordSpeedy
      @OldLordSpeedy 6 лет назад

      rj4590 Okay, this I not know. Different places, different laws.
      In Germany I rent an apartment, so my house owner pay fire insurance.
      At my houses in Thailand I make own fire insurance, cheap 60 € yearly. But I have there own water pool, water hoses, fire alarm system, and lucky - a retired fire fighter from Germany.

    • @OldLordSpeedy
      @OldLordSpeedy 6 лет назад

      rj4590 For the thais helps the thai kingdom, if it a bigger fire. But the most thai people have not a fire insurance (or insurance for whatever). So they fast with help to put out fire normally.

    • @OldLordSpeedy
      @OldLordSpeedy 6 лет назад

      rj4590 I ask at german department they pay if they crash things how not need to crash or if fire fighter stolen things. They have an extra insurance for every fire fighter for things same this. They payed too if the fire figther dead after the fire.

    The guy in the Toyota FJ Cruiser was incredibly self centered. He is double parked and just won't move out of the area, which is what more informed people would do. He ends up double parked between a division or battalion chief and two other large apparatus. In addition why have a four wheel drive in the city? Urban assault vehicle (UAV)?

      I live in a small town in a somewhat remote (lower 48 state standards) rural area. I've lived in remote small towns in rural areas since 1978. Watching these New York City videos gives me claustrophobia.

      @Frances They have to accept and live with what people do. They can't let it get to them or remove their focus, which their lives depend on. Speaking as a retired U.S. Forest Service employee who had wildland firefighting duties among lots of others, including emergency response to non fire situations you have to expect people will do the wrong thing or act very selfishly. You take it in stride as reacting to it increases your own stress and you won't last in the job.
