I've seen other higher end companies sell magnet mounts for their lights. I would pay for a decent metal mount but most of the locations I mount don't cause an issue to screw in. Doing 16 of the C2s this week with Mictuning wheel lights. Last ones i mounted were 24 C2 solid color and Oracle wheel lights. Personally I have 12 Mictuning rock lights on my Gen 1. 8 C2s and 4 C1s. Slowly going to add 16 more C2 solid reds.
Baja designs makes a single pod, I'm waiting to get motivated to put them in the step side of the bumper and see how it goes. I was considering finding an angled mount for it.
I'm not sold on using magnets for my Rock lights, but see the apeal for sure! I have a set from Mictuning, it's been about 4 months since this video was uploaded; how is everything holding up now?
Honestly I've not had any issues. The 3 magnet flavor really hold them in place. I've done snow sand, mud, water crossings... None of the lights have moved.
I'm very interested in the magnets that you hade made. Would love 8 of them for my super duty. How much are they, or could you give me the info on how to get them
Awesome idea! I’m getting ready to install these this weekend on our camper. Those mounts would be perfect. Are you selling them yet? Or would you be willing to share the .stl with me?
I installed them on my travel trailer a few years ago and it’s so beneficial Especially when driving at night with tinted windows Hopefully you guys enjoy them as well
But I went to the hardware store and bought a thin U shape strip of sheet metal (not sure what it’s actually called or used for) and made my own mounts Had to cut them the length of the pods and then drilled 2 small wholes for the bolts and 1 larger while in the center for the wire Then bolted the pod to it and then used 3M double sided tape to mount them to the frame of the trailer And I can always relocate them if needed Saved me money on mounts but it was a good amount of work Hope that helps
Haha you’re wild for mounting them things on the leaf pack. But I suppose the science works out lol. Magnets that strong should do the trick. Cool project brother
What are the chances of the various bluetooth lights and accessories being run through the infotainment screen? No drill, no wires to run, ease of use ideas?
How is the paint holding up at the rear fender, under gas cap. My at4 has been annihilated with chips. I find the paint is lacking, tiny chunks missing all over the place. Black onyx color. My truck has not been on gravel roads yet :(
Be careful with those Amazon soft shackles. Video just posted the other day about a RUclipsr that had one fail and it went through his windshield. I'm sure you've seen so I'm not going to preach. Just don't want to see anyone get hurt.
He also put it on a shear point, and it was severly compromised prior to this recovery. Also they hit it too hard with the wrong rope. The whole thing was bad. Dudes lucky he lived to learn from his mistake.
This is a problem I have with rock lights!!! Love the mounts

I dont think it needs to be metal. These mounts even with only 2 magnets haven't moved yet.
@BadlandIndustries time will tell. What filament did you use? Also depends on wall and infill but you know different material holds better.
@bubbatx petg and I think 4 walls with 20% I needed it dimensionally stable and stong enough to hold the screws. Didn't need to be over built.

if you can find dimensions or measure for me i would consider making some

There's a product link in the video description. What lights do you have? The C2 like me?

I haven't put them on the website but I can. I have the 3 magnet style fully designed.
@@BadlandIndustries awesome, did you put them up? I’m gonna need at least 16, possibly more if I add.
@@robtolas I haven't just yet. I worked on rearranging the site the other day but hadn't made the product page yet.

They work awesome lol.

Not likely on these trucks. Unless mictuning has a compatible app with android auto I doubt it'll ever be a thing.
Did you buy the infotainment switchboard?
@@aaronmiles1971 the one on the dash?
Nice. Thanks for sharing. Can you post the .stl file?
They're going live on the site here shortly.
@@BadlandIndustries Super Thanks!! And, thanks again for the video, you've given me a lot of ideas on mounting rock lights.
I know I am late to the party.....but how can I get those magnetic mounts? Cause I not into drilling holes in my truck also.....please respond.....
I have them goin on the site soon. I wanted to make a couple different styles and make an option for each.
I need 16 of them.....
Which site? Amazon?
@@Bonafide_SMOKE my website Badlandindustries.com
I'm on your page, but did not see the rock lights mounts, to order....

Miniature shot gun lol
you try dealing with gm about it? Even my dealership was surprised at how thin the paint is@@BadlandIndustries
thanks for sharing!
Would you guys consider making something like this?
Flickering leds?
the side markers i got off amazon are garbage. working on some switchbacks so i have t ripped them out just yet
Yeah I’d snag a few (8x) from you if mictuning doesn’t make them. 🍻
My phone can’t read mines
You put lights on top of your tires don't you lol
