I agree completely. He should be released from prison into a psychiatric hospital where he can receive treatment for his ongoing mental health issues. I guarantee he hasn’t received adequate, if any, psychiatric treatment since he went to prison. If he is still hearing command voices regularly, he is likely suffering from some sort of psychotic disorder and needs to be in a hospital setting where he can receive proper care. I’m not at all saying he should be released into the public-he shouldn’t. But, he should be sent to a long term, institution.
I totally agree. Denying somone the opportunity to change seems wrong, so put percautions into place where he can try but not do much damage if he does anything more, and maybe someday he can live somewhat of his life in society.
Why should he get out of prison, if this poor lady can’t get out of the wheelchair he put her in? The people he murdered can’t get out of their graves. 25 years, I just don’t know.
even though the purpose of prison is retribution, incapacitation, deterrence and rehabilitation, most people don't care about the rehabilitation part at all. From providing efficient mental health services to prisons, or civilians being hesitant (understandable) to welcome them back into society. its pretty sad all around. especially since many times, we can't tell if these prisoners who served a long time have genuinely changed for the better and won't pose a threat to themselves or others.
I don't believe in rehabilitation for people that commit murder. When you murder it becomes easier and easier to kill again. To trust that a murderer won't kill again is selfish because what if he does kill again now you have another death that could have been avoided because rehabilitation failed.

It's insane to even think that 25 years ago this was happening.
Exactly
M'urica! 🇺🇲
Columbine was even older. Look it up!
The first school shooting was in 1840 in america
Let's not emphasize his defense over some imaginary 'voices'. That guy took away innocent lives, and damaged so many others.
NOW, even after 25yrs he's alive and privileged to talk in front of his cell 'magic mirror' all day long! 🙏
First fool you don't know what he hears 2nd people hear voices all the time because it's real to them 3rd you have no idea what prison does to a person with that being said he should NOT be released
@@goodnightmunchie why would being black change anything?
I think he should be free because he already served his time and what the point of putting him back in prison
He needs to never be let out....ever
He's only 39?! Jesus Christ! Stay out of prison folks.
He cannot be given parole. He took all they had and all they ever had. He needs ro find peace in prison.
he still has voices in his head. even if he gets intensive treatment after his release, he’s still a danger to everyone. there’s no telling that he wont do it again. do NOT release him, prevent a tragedy from potentially occurring again.
He haven't done treatment yet but you're already judging him. Dude is trying so hard to prove himself he's a changed man now, his better self. He even said he was responsible and feel sorry for what he did and the shootings after his. Instead of keeping him locked up, we should send him to a mental institution to be treated so the bad voices in his head will be gone. More prison time isn't helping him, clearly. Judging him, keeping him up in prison for me is us being cruel to our own. 25 years I think is already enough, let's give him a chance.
@@IgorFranknstn27 he literally killed 3 people and permanently paralyzed a woman. Like she said he sentenced her to life in a wheel chair never to be able to walk again. And he dished out 3 death sentences no mass shooter deserves any kindness or mercy doesn’t matter if he’s “sorry” for what he did (which i would take that sorry as a grain of salt when it comes to people like this)
The constitution states he did his time and has the right to have his gun rights restored. God bless America. I didn't read anything about demons or voices in someone's head in the Bill of Rights therefore it isn't real.
@@IgorFranknstn27The girls didn't get a chance, neither does he.
I think he needs more medical and psychological care in a secure facility than to spend another 25 years in prison. He's definitely not ready to be with the public, or be a benefit to society, but that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to get better.

There's no way in hell he's getting parole. You can't unbreak what is broken.

The fact he stated he still hears voices is a clear indication hes not getting out.
those voices should tell him "stay locked up, you're a danger"
It's so outrageous the way these killers get portrayed as the victims.
even though the purpose of prison is retribution, incapacitation, deterrence and rehabilitation, most people don't care about the rehabilitation part at all. From providing efficient mental health services to prisons, or civilians being hesitant (understandable) to welcome them back into society. its pretty sad all around. especially since many times, we can't tell if these prisoners who served a long time have genuinely changed for the better and won't pose a threat to themselves or others.
If you commit murder, there is no rehabilitation. Just Death.
I don't believe in rehabilitation for people that commit murder. When you murder it becomes easier and easier to kill again. To trust that a murderer won't kill again is selfish because what if he does kill again now you have another death that could have been avoided because rehabilitation failed.
@@1988vikable well that’s his point. There is no rehabilitation in prison. It’s just a lockup
@@1988vikable i would say the viable but seeing how theres many cases where murderers get out and actually stop killing and living a healthy life in regret says otherwise

Only situation he should even be considered for parole is if he opened fire hitting people but didn’t end up killing them or leaving them disabled for life. Ontop of that he’s still hearing voices and clearly still struggling mentally? How is this even a question keep him in prison
it’s easy to just keep them in prison instead of them getting help huh. you think prison has therapy sessions and medication testing? how can we rehabilitate him if the prison is so broken? people forget that jail/prison is meant to rehabilitate and help them back into society

25 years on and still hearing voices. Yeah...that's a definite no
He still hasn’t take accountability ! And he’s still hearing voices he’ll no !
The fact he admitted it makes me feel sorry for him. If he truly meant to do any harm at this point in his life, I don’t think he would have said he hears voices. Clearly makes it tougher to be let out and sounds more like a cry for help.
Let him and his voices rot in a cell.
This is what came to mind as well. He deserves some psychiatric help at least. He sounded honest.
Child bye
I understand your empathy. But, lots of people have really severe schizophrenia, and they _decide_ not to hurt others. Most self harm, or self treat with illicit drugs (unfortunately). I hope he gets treatment, but he owns his actions.

He does not deserve to be released
Just NO!!!
For the record, parole was refused.
The voices in his head is a red flag. My condolences go out to these victims & their families.
Anyone granting parole to those that commit crimes later should be given sentences. Watch parole officers actually look at cases and be more reserved.
I don't wonder "if" they will let him out, I wonder "when" will they let him out
To be fair we all have voices and evil thoughts in our head but the vast majority of us don't act on them.
Correct 👆
@@td.adigee not an excuse. What he describing was not an episode, at best he could have been suffering from perpetrator PTSD, because he remembers what he did, he knew it was wrong, and it's his brain attempting to cope with his trauma. Hence his convenient "blackouts" during the shooting.
Point is, he's a liability.
There is no way to be certain or not he'll have another episode, his next victim potentially could be you, your family, or anyone's family. Which is why he needs to remain where he is.
The most sane take out there. It's ok to live in a crazy world as long as you keep it to your own self.
That is not true.
I don't really believe him, he "cant remember" firing the shots and "the voices" told him to do it, all while hunched over like a spineless coward... hes just trying to make himself not accountable and if he's released (he wont be) he will probably kill more girls with a head as clear as day.
The voices in my head says to keep him where he's at.
Never. Never. It is already a great shame that he is allowed to remain in this world.
Absolutely not!
I was a sophomore when this happened and was going through my school libraries collection of Stephen King books when it happened, so I remember it happening a little more clearly than other events at the time because it all seemed to focus on Kings book "Rage". That dude was huge news....it was a couple years before Columbine and this was still the sort of thing that was severely abnormal at the time. I remember my church acting like Christians were starting to be targeted for their beliefs in schools after this too.

I don't want to hear it!!! Life in prison!!!!! Nuff said!!!!!!!

I have a dear dear friend who’s 35 and I’m 54, and he’s schizophrenic and bipolar and I’ve seen him get violent and turn into something that I never ever want to see again. He became like the Incredible Hulk and was hearing voices and I was petrified. I’m a big woman at 5’10 250 and he is 6’4 320 and he could have snapped my neck so easily. But as long as he takes his meds he’s the best person and I call him my adopted son. Being around someone who hears voices and gets violent really made me change my mind about schizophrenia but I don’t think he should ever see the light of day either.
How about NEVER parole him!!

He was not granted parole. He was ordered to ‘serve out’ his sentence. Which was life in prison. So he will never be released.
After 25 years, and still hearing voices, it’s safe to say he’s too far gone. Can’t feel bad for everybody.

What about private school shooters?
**UPDATE**
On September 26, 2022, the parole board unanimously denied Carneal's bid for parole and ordered him to serve out the remainder of his life sentence. The "serve out" ruling, under Kentucky law, means the inmate in question cannot be considered for any future parole hearings. This means Carneal's life with parole sentence is now effectively a life without parole (or "whole life") sentence.
3 deaths and irreparable injuries and he wants out after 25 years... he's really not remorseful
Not sure he actually wants out; He admitted he still hears the voices. I suspect he is afraid of living outside now, knowing he may not be able to support himself and would end up out on the streets.
To be clear, though, either way I don’t think he should be released.
He wants parole so how does he not want out...
Maybe one of the voices told him to seek parole, but another doesn’t want it.
Why don’t the voices in the head ever say something like “go feed the homeless “
He shouldn’t be allowed in public

Nope. Blaming nonexistent "voices," thinking that'll somehow help his case. That lie actually brought up a reverse Uno card.
He was denied parole and now will have to serve out his life sentence. He will never be considered for parole again.
