  • Michael Carneal is seeking parole after being sentenced to life 25 years ago for the Heath High School shooting. He was 14 years old when he opened fire inside his high school in West Paducah, Kentucky, killing three girls. Missy Jenkins testified at his Kentucky state parole board hearing. She is one of five students wounded in the shooting. During his hearing, Carneal told the parole board that voices in his head told him to kill.

At the end of the day if someone says they have voices in their heads. Probably the wise thing to do is not grant them parole.

Even then, people lie saying they have voices in their head but it's only to get a lighter sentence or to plead insanity. From what I scene alot of school shooters use that excuse once they get caught.

If there were voices in head before there’s gonna be voices in his head again. Do not let the dude out on parole. He’s gonna kill someone and we will see some “shocking news” about this man back in jail right after being released because of the voices.

If he's saying he's schizophrenic and has voices telling him to murder people, then it would be a TERRIBLE idea to release him, especially since those supposed voices already "made him" commit a school shooting in 1997. As it stands, even if he isn't schizophrenic, he still doesn't deserve freedom.

I was a sophomore when this happened and was going through my school libraries collection of Stephen King books when it happened, so I remember it happening a little more clearly than other events at the time because it all seemed to focus on Kings book "Rage". That dude was huge news....it was a couple years before Columbine and this was still the sort of thing that was severely abnormal at the time. I remember my church acting like Christians were starting to be targeted for their beliefs in schools after this too.
