I feel lucky to be able to keep on working. But it does come with it's struggles. What tips do you have when it comes to managing MS symptoms?

Don’t have MS however, after watching you, Pree, and a few others, definitely recommend having a good support network with friends who are patient, understanding, and accepting.

Thanks Liam! You are so sweet and offer great ideas and tips. I would add asking our employers for flexible work hours or the ability to work from home. If we have more energy early in the day perhaps shifting our work day earlier would help. And if we can work from home we can save the energy we would have used for getting ready for work and commuting to work and use that energy for work related tasks.

Hi 👋🏼 I’ve recently been diagnosed with RR MS and I’m a postwoman, where I walk 20,000 steps a day. I’m managing at the moment but I really worry about overdoing it and how it’s effecting my health long term. My managers know about my diagnosis and although they’ve been empathetic they haven’t really done anything for me except say “carry on as you are and let us know if it’s getting too much” kinda thing. I see a lot of advice for MS patients in office roles but not so much advice for patients in physical jobs. I’ve got an appointment next week with my consultant about which DMT I’m going to start on and I also worry about the side effects of that and how it will affect me at work. Any advice welcome! Love your videos - fellow Northwicher!

Good on you for staying active. I have been living well with my MS since 2006 and some of things that help me to keep my energy up and my physical conditioning are to eat the most nutrient dense foods I can, staying hydrated by sipping ice cold water (it can help keep symptoms at bay) throughout the day, ensuring I am getting the best sleep possible, and practicing mindfulness (there are some awesome apps that you could listen to on your route).
I really do believe the more we move the better we will be in the long run. I exercise daily to keep my muscles toned and flexible. I hope this helps!

Oh wow! Great to connect with a fellow Northwicher! What a small world.
I hope you are doing as well as can be. DMT can be a long journey. I'm onto my third as the first two didn't prevent further progression. Hopeful that this new one does better but I am noticing the fatigue is worse.
However, fatigue has caused me to reduce my exercise and now I'm struggling. Where as I think because your job is so active, it will likely be something that serves you well. Exercising is an important part of battling this disease and I think your job may be the best thing to help keep you active and prevent physical issues.
But continue to be transparent with your employers, rest and make changes when you need. They are required by law to make "reasonable adjustments" to help you continue to work. If your job needs to change or evolve, that's ok. It may be worth arranging an independent assessor to complete an Occupational Health Assessment. They will provide information to your employer about changes and adaptations they are required to make by law.
Thanks for your comment, sending lots of love! 🫶🏻
