My favorite personal headcannon that I had when I first played sonic mania is that, sonic mania's events take place after sonic generations and not only that but at the end of sonic generations we see that classic sonic sonic tried to learn the homing attack right? Well I always thought of the drop dash as classic sonic's way of using the homing attack in a way, like, he tried to learn the homing attack but ended up creating his own move. It may be silly but thats a headcannon I always had that I loved.

    • @MonoDree

ooh that's a good one, i like that. We can continue that by saying that sonic from frontiers is that same sonic and now we are in a separate timeline from the modern sonic in generations that showed him the homing attack.

It wasn't the homing attack modern was showing classic ,it was the boost/mid air boost. Which could still be true to your theory because if classic tried to use the boost mid air,he might make up the drop dash because it's like charging his own boost mid air and releasing on the ground

My head cannon is that Sonic is the type of person who runs away from his own problems. When it comes to other people's problems he is more that happy to help, but when it comes to his own problems, he'd rather pretend they don't exist. It's why he is so seemingly happy all the time, because he doesn't want to deal with his own negative emotions so he bottles them away. If Sega ever allowed Dark Sonic to be cannon, then that could be the reason why he doesn't want to deal with his negative emotions. Because He turns into Dark Sonic because of his strong negative emotions. However bottling up his emotions only makes it worse.

    Some of my headcannons
Dark Gaia and Solaris were the only two entities powerful enough to physically damage Super Sonic, which is why they can hit him and make him lose rings in their boss battles.
The Time Eater is a rogue fragment of Methilis which is why it was strong enough to need 2 super formed beings to combat it but couldn't damage them.
Shadow uses guns and other weapons in Shadow the Hedgehog because he forgot how to use Chaos Spear until the final battle at the end of the game but Shadow still trained with firearms even though he doesn't need them because he felt he should do the same training like any other member entering Gun even if they don't mandate him too.

The Titans can kill him with a single move if you fail the QTEs and with like three single shots (The amount of lives you have in the minigame/bullet hell boss fight) The End can destroy both Sage controlling the Titan and Super Sonic

My headcanon that Super's invincibility is just that, he's invincible. It isn't a matter of it being so strong almost nothing can hurt him like in Dragon Ball, a Super form straight cannot be hurt by normal means.
The only way to harm one is to somehow turn off his invulnerability (which is what Solaris does), pierce it with Negative Chaos Energy (which is what Dark Gaia does), or breaking the user's connection to the Emeralds (which is what Knuckles did in 3&K).

Who was a scientist and visited Angel Island just to learn about it’s culture and the emeralds, and had a big bushy mustache.
But without knowing Eggman’s, nor Gerald’s, ages, he assumed that Eggman was the scientist and quickly trusted him as he looked just like the drawings Knux’ grandfather made of him.

I have quite a few headcanons:
-Sonic’s past was not a pleasant one. It’s also why his classic self is mute; he just doesn’t feel “safe” around people he doesn’t know well.
-When Tails, Cream, and Charmy grow older, they’ll start their own team together.
-If Silver and Chip ever met each other, they would get along great.
-Shadow cannot reproduce. This is due to his alien nature and his status as being the Ultimate Life Form; as such he can’t have kids with anyone since that wasn’t his purpose.
-The reason Blaze was in the future in 06 is because of time travel.
    - Sonic’s family adopted Tails. Tails’ real parents are either neglectful or they’re dead. This is why Sonic and Tails have a brotherly bond.
-Sonic has some sort of connection to Chaos energy.
-In the Sonic Underground universe, Sonic and his siblings spent the rest of their lives fruitlessly fighting Robotnik, dying in the process. It’s only after their deaths when Queen Aleena finally reunited with them; crying in horror about what happened to them.
I’ll probably update this if I want to share more headcanons.
    EDIT: aight here are more
-To contrast classic Sonic's muteness, classic Amy only spoke Japanese until she was taught it in order to communicate with others more. So before Amy met Sonic, she didn't actually speak English yet, only learning it from him later on. This is in reference to how CD has a lot of differences between the American and Japanese versions of the game.
-Cream and Vanilla's family has had a long history of using Chao as pets and/or weapons. Vanilla herself used to be a traveller much like Sonic and his friends, her Chao being Chocola, before eventually having Cream and giving her a Chao of her own (Cheese).
-Tikal and Maria would totally be pals if they ever met each other (although considering they're both... y'know, dead-sort of in Tikal's case-maybe they did meet each other).
-If the human characters were animals/mobians, I'd imagine Eggman being a bird (hey, it's a pun on his nickname), Elise being a cat, Maria being a rabbit, etc.
-Shadow sees Amy and Cream like sisters, especially the former since she reminded him of his promise to Maria.
-Blaze's parents are alive, hence the reason why Blaze is a princess instead of a queen; they just aren't around much and thus leave matters to their daughter (and she's capable of handling herself anyways).
-Only Silver remembers the events of 06. The reason behind this is either because Mephiles influenced him the most out of the characters in the game, or as a side-effect of the fight with Solaris doing *something* to him.
-It might be possible that Sonic is one of Silver's ancestors.
-Despite his past, classic Sonic actually thinks of his Eggman as a friend; he knows the bad things he's done, but can still see the good in him. As the years went on, however, Sonic started to lose hope in Eggman.
-Charmy either grew up with or was raised by Vector for most of his life. This is why he's always seen with both Vector and Espio and works with them despite him being a lot younger than them.
-Sonic has seen what the Internet has done to him (not a serious headcanon, but I thought it'd be funny).
-Adding to the last point, if Sonic.exe existed in the Sonic universe, I'd imagine him being an alien from a parallel world that happened to be similar to Sonic's, and he'd be a huge fan of the blue blur and his cocky attitude. As such, Sonic would be... pretty weirded out by him.
-Despite still being happy and outgoing all the time, Sonic has PTSD (possibly undiagnosed) because of all of his adventures and the various enemies he's faced, from Sonic 3 and Knuckles all the way to Frontiers. The only one who has any suspicion of this being the case is Tails.

@@yay29823 Probably because it kind of makes sense when you think about it.
Before the "official ages" were removed, Sonic was stated to be 15 years old. He's only *fifteen*, and he's had to deal with multiple robots that were designed to outmatch him, a water deity that destroyed an entire city, a failed experiment in space, his robotic clone attempting to destroy him again, genocidal aliens that wanted to consume human life, a freaking GOD that could've destroyed all of reality, an evil genie, a sorceress who wanted her world to be essentially infinite, the embodiment of destruction, a malevolent force that could eat time itself, six alien-like beings that clearly weren't friendly, a corrupted jackal that had infinite power, and (spoilers for Frontiers below)
an old and powerful force that sought nothing but the destruction of everything.

This is a bit meta, but I headcanon that Iblis was originally gonna be the Sol Dimension's version of Perfect Chaos. If you look at their designs they have very similar reptilian features. I also think 06's future plot was gonna take place in Blaze's home but that the plot was scrapped for what we got instead. This would explain why Blaze was in 06 but hadn't done much of anything in the game. The game would've been about her but Sonic Team hadn't had time to fully flesh out the plot because of the deadline. Back onto lore, take into consideration that Iblis is a fire creature and Blaze being a pyrokinetic. I think in the original 06 plot Iblis was gonna be sealed inside Blaze's forehead gem and then was gonna be awakened by some disaster. She was gonna have similar visions to what Elise saw during the Festival of the Sun that heralded Iblis' reawakening and Sonic would somehow get involved and work with her to stop it from happening.

But when G.U.N invaded the Space Colony Ark, they also took the potentially dangerous prototypes and locked them away in either the base that was blown up in SA2, or other bases that were around the world. One head cannon I’ve always had was that the time eater is a fragmented piece of Mephiles from 06, I like to think that at the end of 06, Mephiles as Solaris in one last ditch effort to survive had tried to separate himself into different forms and fling them across time in hopes of being able to regain some power and bring himself back together, however when Elise erased Solaris and reset the timeline most of those pieces had gotten erased too but some had been stuck in between time and space, with those pieces losing power and beginning to revert to more primal states like how mephiles was just a black smoke back when he split. Then when the black hole at the end of Colors that was able to send the wisps home, it was strong enough to create a gateway in that in between of time and space allowing one of the mephiles fragments to escape which Eggman stumbles upon. However the fragment had reverted enough to look like an between version of the black shadow mephiles and regular mephiles, and only being able to use his time travel powers after being in stasis for so long. I know this sounds really convoluted and complicated but I’ve always liked this idea and thought it could be a neat way to bring back mephiles if Sega ever thought about doing it

A personal headcanon of mine is one regarding Blaze. The job of a princess must be hard and tiresome. I like to imagine that she travels to Sonic’s dimension for vacation. Whenever we see her in Sonic’s world like during Sonic’s birthday in Generations or the racing spin-offs, she’s on one of her scheduled off days. She would leave someone she trusts to do the paperwork and protect the Sol Emeralds, likely letting Marine help with protecting the kingdom. Then she travels and has some much needed down time hanging out with Sonic and friends. Maybe that’s how she met Silver.
Also Sonic CD takes place after Sonic 2, but at the same time as Tails Adventure, explaining why the two are on their own in both games. That’s another personal headcanon.

A headcanon that I firmly believe made me completely lose it and was my entrance into terminal Sonic Fan syndrome is: Mephiles is behind Time Eater AND the Phantom Ruby as a revenge plan for his defeat in '06.
After the "2006 incident," he was vanished into non-existence, so using whatever scraps remained of his power he created the Null Space (which the Phantom Ruby, to an onlooker, nominally "cooked up." More on that later!), which it's why it's empty instead of being an ancient void full of ruins, and has been slowly regenerating his power there ever since his defeat in a now alternate timeline.
Eventually, he attempts to take revenge on the main 3 that wrecked his world through the Time Eater: An underling ripe for the taking by Eggman, who at the time was flung into deep space (post-Colors) and wouldn't have a choice BUT to take the Time Eater. This is supported by the fact the ONLY characters not frozen into statues were Sonic, Shadow, and Silver; the ones that stripped him from his power and condemned him to a darkness outside his control.
After Time Eater was vanquished, Mephiles would wait before trying again. The Phantom Ruby, possibly using a regenerated part of himself to basically have power over reality like him to an extent, since he's just the mind. (Illusions DON'T have a mass to wack you around, nor blast exploding lasers without an illusive field, so it's reality-bending) He would now attempt to cause as much havok as he could, now also messing with the Classic Sonic who helped foil his previous scheme, now also on his sights (Mania as an alternate timeline theory.) No one lashes against his plans and gets off scott-free.
Ever since the one vulnerable to "Valtron's" power was vanquished as well, and Eggman also failed to finish the fight, he has gone back into planning. God help us stop whatever new plan he has next.
Also, both Time Eater and the Phantom Ruby are purple like Mephiles. That's a cool visual motif.

As of Adventure 2 he was shown to have used info learned from Tikal to become a little more attuned to the Master Emerald's power instead of just guarding it because it's his role so perhaps any attempts to tap into that power could also be sensed via his "Emerald Radar" now. Pair all that with (over?)confidence in his own ability to drop whatever task he agreed to leave his post to help with and put a stop to any attempted misuse and as an last resort (because I imagine he'd have too much pride to ask any sooner) he could rely on Sonic to help him restore normalcy.

The Chaos Emeralds and the extinction of the Ancients (literally) re-shaped the world.
The Starfall Islands, South Island, West Side Island, and Angel Island (the latter three causing confusion even as far back as the Classic era for all allegedly being the true "home" of the Chaos Emeralds) used to be one land mass. Whatever catastrophic, radioactive event occurred that ended up wiping out the Ancients initially broke the Starfall Islands off from the rest of these islands. Then, later on, Chaos' initial rampage against the Echidnas caused such wild changes in sea levels that they ended up forming three distinct islands altogether, which is why they ALL are, in a way, the true "home" of the Chaos Emeralds.

In a way to expand your head cannon about the Werehog and Perfect Chaos being the same, Dark Gaia's energy are dark thoughts themselves, and Chaos Energy are made of different kinds of thoughts (SA1 explained it, I think). And, since Dark Gaia is the representation of Dark thoughts incarnate (notice how the people in all countries are noticibly saddened/angered/having bad thoughts during the night, when Dark Gaia's influence is stronger, and during the day, they're more happy go lucky during the day [which I suppose is because of Chip, Light Gaia, is there, but that's a whole can of worms]), we could interpret that the Werehog is the game's Dark Sonic. The reason why it didn't turn him evil like in Sonic X for example, it's because how Eggman reverts the polarity of the Emeralds when he fires at the earth, Sonic wasn't having Dark thoughts, but rather forced to used it (the Guide for Unleashed does explicitly state that Dr Eggman reverted the polarity of the Emeralds). But anyway, I wanted to point some points for this headcannon, which I share and love the concept of, because it brings a new meaning for the Negative Energy of the Chaos Emeralds, being that the Energy would be capable of distorting the user's mind and image into a monster, just as how hatred and anger can make a person become a monster.

I also think that the classic and modern timelines are one in the same, Classic Sonic can talk (he's just kinda shy), Mighty 🥹, Ray, and other predominantly classic characters do exist in the modern timeline (they just don't really show up), and the Sonic OVA (to some degree) is canon to the mainline series.

In his hyper form from Sonic 3, he has green eyes and a sort of double jump, both of which he got from being around so much chaos energy that he just transformed into an invincible god. Over time sonic racked up so much exposure to chaos energy that he started to adopt some of these traits from the hyper form, giving him green eyes and a double jump in the form of the homing attack, turning him into modern sonic. Every time sonic gains a new ability is because he's been around a huge amount of chaos energy, mutating him into an even stronger hedgehog, kinda like how chaos gains new forms. He got the boost because of the surge of chaos energy from being depowered in the opening scene of sonic unleashed. Something similar actually happened in the Archie comics where after finding a new form in ultra sonic, sonic would turn back to normal only to have his signature modern, green eyes.

I think that Little Planet is, in the current timeline, doomed to the Bad Future. I saw a video sorta talking about this, but basically, I believe the Good Future ending is the canonical one, BUT, in Generations, Eggman says he reversed his past mistakes. Hence why when you fight Metal Sonic, it’s in the Bad Future of Stardust Speedway. And unless taking out the Time Eater reverted everything back to normal, Little Planet is headed for the Bad Future. And maybe in a future game, Sonic will have to go back and change everything back to the Good Future. I doubt that though. Really, I just want a proper sequel to Sonic CD more than anything.

I have a headcanon that the color of the energy Shadow uses (like in the spears and teleportation and stuff) changes based on whether he has a chaos emerald or not. In the comics, his energy is green and in the games it’s orange/gold but sometimes it’s animated red. So I figured that I would organize it, so it’s green with a chaos emerald, gold without, and red uninhibited. Ik that the fact that he (probably) doesn’t have a chaos emerald in the comics disproves my headcanon, but I still like it

I have a few head canons.
1: Sage was a real person and was the daughter of Eggman before he became a villain. She died at some point. Eggman created Saga to try and bring his daughter back, and then did it again after Frontiers.
2: Mania and the Game Gear games take place in an alternate timeline created after Generations. So Tails saying “You’re that Sonic from another dimension” actually makes a little bit of sense (that was still a stupid line).
3: Sonic and Knuckles got their powers from the Chaos Emeralds/Master Emerald. They were chosen ones if you will.
4: Silver is a distant relative of Shadow (and Amy, since I’m a Shadamy shipper).
5: Just like Spider-Man and Tmnt, every version of Sonic whether that be the games, movies, comics, tv shows, est exist in the same multiverse. I’m hoping for a Spiderverse like crossover with Sonic in Prime.
6: The Time Eater was created by the black hole at the end of Colors.

Idk if this is a headcanon cause it may or may not have been confirmed in some way, but my headcanon is that the way Sonic’s speed works is the same way human speed works, just at a much higher level. By this, I mean that-like humans-Sonic can always try to fast as run as he can, and he’s always capable of reaching a brand new top speed. This is as opposed to beliefs that Sonic can always run at a set speed, for example, the speed of sound. He’s a lot like humans in that he just runs as fast as he can at the moment. The only differences are that he can run much faster than humans, and he has a much higher endurance, hence why he has a boost meter. When not boosting; he’s running while pacing himself, hence why he can run endlessly like that.

here's mine: Eggman's pyramid base (as well as all of the desert levels) in SA2 take place in Angel Island after Rouge stole the Master Emerald before the game starts. As far we can observe within the game, we never see Angel Island anywhere, and Knuckles and Rouge are fighting at an altar located near Eggman's pyramid base before Knuckles' first stage. So, it makes sense to me that they're actually over a fallen Angel Island that crashlanded around near Pumpkin Hill. The Pyramid Eggman uses as his base in this game could be very well an unseen section of Sandopolis Sonic and Knuckles never got to visit on their 2D games.

A personal headcanon of mine that could actually be canon is that the entirety of the series happens in a span of 7 years: 4 between the classic games and Sonic Adventure, 5 in Sonic Generations due to Sonic's birthday party, 6 in Sonic Forces due to the 6 months Sonic spend trapped in the Death Egg, and 7 when we reach Sonic Frontiers

I kinda late to the party but here’s my headcanon (it’s more so fanfiction then a headcanon but I’ll still share it anyways).
I believe every character has their own unique chaos ability (like how Shadow’s ability is to summon chaos spears). The reason why most of the main cast can’t use them is because they either A) Don’t know how to tap into them yet, or B) Don’t have enough chaos energy in them to even use it.
Things I would consider to be a chaos ability are Sonic’s Insta-Shield, Amy’s hammer (she can summon it from literally anywhere in Sonic X so it counts in my eyes), and possibly Silver’s psychokinesis.
Things like chaos control would be like a universal chaos ability since all it takes is an emerald and a strong enough will to use them.

I always assumed Shadow was slightly slower than sonic and compensated for it with chaos control/more understanding of and using the energy of the chaos emeralds. But only slightly slower
However I do think Shadow may be physically stronger or at least better combat wise which is one way he's able to stay even whenever up against sonic
(There also is the implication from 06 that Shadow is holding back his full power for some reason as well take that however you will)

My head canon is that the phantom ruby is a chunk of The End that fell off it during it's final battle against the ancients, or maybe one of The End's attacks that fell into Earth. The end talked about being infinite and bringing order, order is the opposite of chaos, the phantom ruby is said to be a counter to the chaos emeralds and Infinite used the phantom ruby. Also, the end's primary attacks are red.
The End also has a similar color to the phantom ruby

I have a headcanon right now and my headcanon is that there might be MULTIPLE Master Emeralds, the reason I think this is bc if u go to Ares, and visit one of the Ruins, u can find an Emerald that’s broken and falling apart, one that looks exactly like the Master Emerald, making me think that there might be 7 Master Emeralds, which also brings me to another theory that the starfall islands were part of an island group with Angel Island, that I named The Angel Islands, the reason why I think that is because of the last theory of there being multiple Master Emeralds. u need the Master Emerald to make Angel Island float, meaning that Kronos and Ares may have floated before that as well since we see that broken Master Emerald on Ares, Chaos Island is also stated to be a floating Island above the clouds, meaning there might be a hidden Master Emerald on that Island, however, it might’ve lost power bc of that attack that we see in those Story Book like cutscenes, but that’s just my headcanon

I may have missed my opportunity to share my headcanon before, so instead I shall share it here.
The Chaos Emeralds are evolving Sonic the more he uses them.
Sonic started off in the classic games with black eyes, while only Super Sonic had green eyes. Later on, Sonic would gain green eyes, and Super Sonic's eyes would change to red. This means Sonic's eyes would possibly change red in the far future.
(I believe the Fleetway comics actually touched on this concept.)
And in terms of Power, they increase his base power the more he uses them. Example, in Sa1, They needed Super Sonic to defeat Perfect Chaos, and even then it was a dicy fight. But in Sonic Generations, Modern Sonic manages to beat Perfect Chaos in the exact same amount of hits, like it's nobody else's business. He's very visibly on par with Sa1 Super Sonic in terms of power. And now with Frontiers, we can see that Super Sonic too is also getting stronger, now having the ability to conjure energy chains, as well as Green Lantern-esc illusions.
That's my personal headcanon, and an explanation for Sonic's continued growth in both speed and power.

While in the Giganto fight, he just beat him up.(Also while playing the final "The End" section,i thought Sonic was controlling Supreme, but it ended up not being the case xd)

13:31 This theory makes even more sense when you consider the fact that Sonic attempted to save Shadow. If memory serves my correctly, Sonic gave Rouge Shadow’s inhibitor rings. This leads me to believe he tried and failed to save Shadow. The reality hit that he couldn’t save everyone. Plus, it was likely the first he’d ever witnessed someone die, especially someone he knew.

While I've heard that the reason the past, present, and future stages all appear so differently in Sonic CD is that time flows super quickly on Little Planet, I always kind of preferred the way I first interpreted it where Eggman used the time stones to travel back thousands or maybe even hundreds of thousands of years in Little Planet's past to place his generators so that he could have already gained control of Little Planet by the present. Similarly, I think it's cool to imagine the past being so long ago and the future being so far ahead in the future. The more primitive style of the past fits a lot better with such a large gap than, say, just that month when Little Planet touched down again.
