Well US Open 2019 was a heartbreak too obviously. Because Medvedev tried so hard to come back from two sets to love down, yet Nadal still edged him out

Tennis will miss Nadal dearly, he is very very very unique
I was (still am) a huge Federer fan so I was definitely at first not a Nadal fan. However, after the AO when he played Verdasco and came right back and played Fed in the finals earned my respect. Nadal is the fiercest competitor I’ve ever seen, in any sport. He’s absolutely amazing. Hoping for one more miracle.

Without question Nadal at his peak was beyond belief. The man had endless stamina no matter how many sure winners players even fed and Novak threw at him. He crushed prime fed on 3 consecutive GS finals FO 08 Wim 08 AO 09. They said only injuries could stop him at tbf some of that was true
Verdasco kicked his ass in the first round 😂 of AO!

Man has willpower and an ability to dig his heels in the sand unlike any other person in sports i’ve seen. Rafa just refuses to lose in certain moments, you can see the effort he puts into every point. One of the reasons I thought he’d be on the list of few pro athletes in other sports with at least the mentality and doggedness to do combat sports. Man probably coulda been one hell of a WW haha 😆 Happy he saved his brain and played tennis though 🤝💪

Never been a big Rafa fan, but he has always had class, decency, sportsmanship and maturity on the court...something that Medvedev has never had. Bravo, Rafa.
