But even as a cover band with only 2 original members, Blackfoot rocked the hardest and the best, for the longest. And ARS was the smoothest and slickest. Sometimes a music style is not based on where the band originated, like they seemed to imply. Some of the best Celtic (Irish/Scottish/et cetera) was from North America or other countries than Ireland or Scotland. ARS definitely qualifies if you need the band to be from southern parts of the country. They aren't from Atlanta, but Doraville, but still Georgia and southern. Yeah, they play some Southern Rock, however they also play other genres, and are better known for hard rock, but also play blues rock and are a great jam band...

I'd have to remove the more modern bands on the list and replace them with Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, and the Dixie Dregs. Then a follow up list of modern (post 1980s) Southern Rock bands could contain the Black Crows, Drive By Truckers, and Alabama Shakes, along with bands like the North Mississippi Allstars, Govt Mule, Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies, Blackberry Smoke, Kings of Leon, or Widespread Panic.

How "The Band" wasn't even mentioned, is bull shit. Sure most of the band was from Canada. But, the front man Levon Helm (who is a legend) was from Arkansas. They also inspired each one of these bands.
