Thank you so much for this information. My house is getting fumigated soon and I'm getting nervous about it. Mostly about burglary. I have security cameras inside and outside, but I don't have them recording all the time. The best I can do is check it as often as I can I guess. I also won't be around to check the progress, so that's another thing that's making me nervous. I'm surprised they let you keep the food in the house and also provided you with bags. I live in Florida and they told me that I have to remove all food and medicine from the house.
Each company is different. During this time, unless the time has passed already, buy a sign that says "property under video surveillance" in your front yard. That will show that your property is "being watched" during the fumigation. That sign has helped me many times during my fix and flips while under construction in some of the roughest neighborhoods, even!
Yeah, don't worry about the highly toxic, carcinogenic chemicals that'll be in every single square nanometre of your house for extended periods of time
How were your drapes, carpet? Any itcky stuff. As well as clothing? Did you have to wash floors, appliances off? Any books left? And were they ok? Boxes of stuff were ok? I am a reseller and have boxes of books, toys, linens, etc. Thanks. I'm in south orange Co. What company did you use?
A few questions 1. What were the bags you used to seal your food? Were they provided by the company? 2. Did you have to cover your beds/couches with tarps? 3. Did you have to take your clothes with you or wash them after? 4. Did you turn off your electricity when you left or was it just the gas? 5. Were there dead bugs when you returned to the property that you needed to clean? Were there any alive that you noticed when you returned? I'm trying to prepare myself to get my house fumigated and I'm struggling. Some places seem to say that no action with clothes/linens is required whereas others say to tent/bag it, even so far as to remove the mattresses.
The bags were provided by the company. They were just thick bags tied and zip tied, then bagged within a bag (2 bags for each stack of food). Nothing else was covered or bagged. No tarps. You could wash your clothes, but not necessary unless they were infested beforehand, then you wash to get the dead bug bodies out. Electricity remained on. There were a couple of bugs here or there, but not many. Spiders survive for the most part, as I remember it, but we didn't have many of those. Plants died at the foliage but lived at the roots. They all grew back. Good luck!
I’m getting my house tented in a few weeks and I’m nervous about after everything is done because I don’t want to inhale this crap and somehow be super sick or even die.
As long as your fumigation follows their proper protocols, you won't have an issue. They're required, at least in my state, to give you a safe to re-enter notice. In order to give that, they must go through and measure what's in the air. Fumigation companies are in the habit of killing... bugs, not people. 😀
I work for my family's company and we do fumigations. It's worth noting that we can also turn these things off ourselves Also note most companies don't use paper signs. Now if you look the long things you pointed at that are filled with sand we call sand snakes those are usually hanged on the tarp using clamps The water hoses we fill we call water snakes Now with the has it's based on the size of your home and the type of gas Also no we shouldn't be covering your plants the gas will kill most plants which is why we go behind them the reason those people's plants didn't die is because those plants are extremely resistant to the gas. Now different companies do things differently our trucks have cranes because we use much larger and thicker tarps. Now with connecting tarps you wanna pull them together and roll the tarps as tightly as possible which can often rip the skin off your fingers. Believe it or not those bags you used cost the company about 50 cents a piece. Now I'm actually really surprised they let you hang out inside while they were renting just because it's a liability issue. Also if you give me an email I can send you an image of our reentry notices so you can have that image for your channel Your incorrect about how the areation period works but I can quickly explain that Now it's 12 hours the tarp needs to be on the building for the gas to do it's jobs at least that's for termites Those gas cannisters have 125 pounds of gas which a house like yours likely uses around 40 tho that's not really my job. The gas only really takes about 6 hours to dissapate when the doors are open however because of how much it costs for someone to sit there the whole time they usually close it up for 24 hours and have someone clear it the next day
Thank you for the information! You're very detailed. I'd love to have the images. Contact me via my website and I'll get ya a way to send me the pics. Thank you!

Was it worth doing, our builder brought booklice into our home and can’t get rid of them. So they suggested us to fumigate. The issue you had, did they go away? Did you feel safe touching all your stuff afterwards? I have a one year old and a new born on the way. Do you think his stuff will be okay for him to play with afterwards? That’s my biggest concern.
I had the initial mental fears, but when you realize they use a gas that very quickly dissipates and they air it out for 24 hours before re-entry, I felt fine. It's a mental game to go inside and see no residue. We had no issues other than dead plants after our fumigation.
It didn't smell any different, really. Nothing noticeable for us. Kinda think of it as if they filled the house with helium, then let it dissipate. No smell...
When you get back inside your home, were you able to put food out on the counter or did you have to sanitize all food contact surfaces? What about bedding? Also does the gases leave a smell imprint on furniture? Thanks!
We didn't notice any different smells and there's no residue on anything. We did clean our surfaces first, but I don't think anything is required more than normal cleaning. For bedding, we had stripped the bed beforehand. I don't think it's required, though.
Thank You for this video. Do they the house out before you return. They are taking off the tent at my house on a Friday nrornng and what us to be back there by Noon to wait for the gas company. They said they check air first. Just not sure when it gets aired out.
We’re scheduled to have our house fumigated this weekend, I just wanna know if I need to empty my fridge and pantry. Like take out everything…and I mean take out of the house? Or putting it the plastic enough?
As a general practice, it is always best to ask the pest control company as they may have a different suggestion than mine. For my experience, we bagged all the food in the fridge and left it in the fridge as I recall. We double bagged all food and left it in the house. The fumigation company provided the bags and the ties. You might not have to worry about anything canned in the pantry, but you'll need to bag spices and bagged foods like bread and cereal, in my understanding. We left our refrigerator 🏃♀️
Did you get rid of ice cubes and water? I read some place that there is no need to do so. Also, did you clean inside of the refrigerator and freezer before taking the food out of the bags and put it back inside? Thank you in advance.
I don't remember cleaning the fridge before putting the food back on the shelves. I think we dumped the ice, but there are things you do to mentally get over the tenting even if there's nothing wrong. :) I expected a dusty residue, but it's a gas, so no residue... funny things we come up with in our minds...
@Real Estate Investing Unmasked I must certainly appreciate your input. Thank you so much. 👌 I will like to ask you one more question. I have a lot cardboard boxes full of stuff and they have to stay during the fumigation. The question is if you know if there could be pockets of gas trapped in boxes? Thanks again.
Probably too late to answer this, but I don't usually get notified by RUclips of sub comments... can gas get trapped in boxes? Probably not very long. When you consider that it's your walls and wood, I can't imagine it could stay trapped in cardboard very long.
Crazy enough, you don't have to pack them or wash everything when it's all over. The gas just dissipates and you're good to go from what I was told and what I experienced.
No problem! It can be a stressful time, for sure! I recommend reaching out to a couple fumigation companies, even if they're not in your area and ask anything and everything that comes to mind. You may be surprised by how freeing it feels to get all the information from someone who can't sell to you 😀
I left my memory foam topper on my bed as well as the bedding with no issue. Because they used a gas, there was no residue. It was much cleaner afterward than I had expected.
At least to my knowledge... keep in mind that the gas goes through most everything. It won't go through the plastic bags at a certain thickness, which is why you bag up your food. If it didn't penetrate carpet, it wouldn't be very effective in killing bugs... 😀
The fumigation company may. Because it's all tented, it's perfectly fine for the fumigant to flow throughout the inside and outside. That's why a lot of plants die
My house had to be fumigated when I was 16. Lived in a three bedroom mobile home, the home was invested with 13 different species of roaches and my mom finally did something about it. During the fumigation, somebody had literally cut the tent to release the gas, broke into our side door and stole all of our tvs and gaming consoles. The window they broke through, they left a blood splatter on the wall and a pool of blood on the floor, a trail of blood on the dirt going out of our yard, down the driveway and on the sidewalk. THANKFULLY the company doing the fumigation resealed the tent and re-released then a whole two tanks of Vikane gas and one tank of tear gas 😂
We're looking at having this done to our home in about three or four weeks. How did you deal with the possibility of burglary? Did you have a security guard or did you guard it yourself? Did you just take your valuables and hope for the best?
We left everything inside and hoped for the best. I ordered a higher concentration so the tent was on longer. I also kept my surveillance cameras recording the whole time and checked the footage. I also drove by to get footage for my RUclipsrs.... which kept me on the prowl. My neighbors were also informed. I wasn't too worried.
@@RealEstateInvestingUnmasked Thanks for the feedback. I'm taking most valuables with me. Thought about putting a POD in the driveway, but it would cost me around $400.00 and it would have a padlock on it. I'm going to patrol and let the neighbors know. I'll make a point to hang around from a safe distance during the ventilation phase. Also heard that they open the windows about 3", so I'll do that and block them with window thumb screws or something.
Our front door and back door were also left open. They'll open up most everything for great ventilation throughout. I'd ask the fumigation company what other security measures you can do. I didn't leave my house until they had started pumping in the fumigant. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea for you, too. Good luck! Knock em dead! ;)
If you have cameras set up around your house, they still work. You can even get a nanny cam and place it somewhere near the entrance so if someone does come in, you can see what they're doing. Other than that, you just have to make a presence. You could even post a sign saying the house is under video surveillance. I've done that when I've had rentals in rougher neighborhoods between renters. It worked. The neighbors should be helpful, too.
My understanding is that as long as the plant is not under the tent, comestible plants are fine...however, I would consult with the fumigation company to confirm. All edible items inside the tent have to be sealed inside plastic bags. The tent is enclosed and they use sand/water pressure by their weight to hold the edges of the tent down to the ground. I believe the poison rises, so the question would be is it possible for the poison to enter the root system of the plants through subterranean pressure from the gas above? I don't know. If I was concerned, I'd ask my fumigation company. I also don't know how long it takes for the fumigant to leave whatever it contaminates.
Hey, you 😊 A quick question please…do fumigators go through your personal items in closets, drawers, (or plastic storage containers of kids toys, and baby clothing/ no food…etc), before they clear the house for fumigation. And, what specific items will they be looking for that might cause harm or negatively affect the fumigation process. Thanks. 😊
They do not go through your personal belongings if they are a reputable company. The only reason for them to go in the house is to make sure you have all internal doors open, outside doors and windows open. They'll check to make sure you bagged your food properly, too. Other than that, if you are concerned, I suggest staying on the property until the crew is finished like I did and asking your neighbors to keep an eye out for funny business. You can also set up a wifi camera inside your house in various places.... or just hire a reputable company 😆
I'd guess that if you followed all their instructions, you're fine. I was a little paranoid right afterward, too, too be honest. After a while, I remembered it was a gas and that the place is aired out for 24 hours before you're allowed back in anyway... if it makes you feel better to launder your bedding, do it. It's nice, mentally, as it puts you at ease... it did me, anyway... because it was a gas, there is no residue...
What company did u use and was that the going price? We live in San Diego just bought a house and a week later figured out the house is infested with rats. We hired pest control for $2,600 and they will trap rats but we r on day 3 and no rat has been trapped, yet we are still finding droppings by the traps. Thinking it’s quicker to just tent the house.
Sorry, I would have answered you sooner, but I was camping with my family and I just got back into civilization. It was about $2850 for my fumigation. If you'd like the company name, I can provide it, but I'd rather provide it via email. Connect with me via my website, www.WatchBobOnRUclips.com and I'll be glad to share the details.
My understanding is it should be. They do that for food and you're allowed to consume it afterward, so it stands to reason you could for make up. Ask the fumigation company to be sure
I would imagine fumigation would kill blow flies, but you'll want to know why they're there in the first place. They like rotting flesh. If you have a blow fly issue, do you have road kill close by or dead animals under the house or keep your trash cans too close to the home? If you fumigate and you haven't taken care of the underlying issue, they'll likely return.
Hi, thank you for your video..I want to get done termite and fumigation treatment..can you let me know your fumigation company name..so I can confirm them..I am getting quotes for $6000.
For what I did, it was $2800. My cost was higher because we had them pump additional poison in the tent and went 4 days instead of 3, if I remember right.
@@RealEstateInvestingUnmasked I suppose it depends on what you are treating and the dosage being used. Bedbugs require almost 2x the dosage of drywood termites for example, and formosan termites require 4x the dosage. I only ever did fumigations on homes with severe bedbug infestations and we never had a plant inside the tarp survive. I would guess if you are doing bedbug treatments and having plants survive, then they are either super hardy plants, or some significant portion of that plant is outside of the tent. Or maybe you are using some other fumigant? Was it sulfuryl flouride?
I work on fumigation to be honest they were lazy because those plants should’ve been save where i work we always save da plants atleast 9 times out of 10
We kept watering them after the fumigation and most everything was saved... but I agree that they could have done more... even then, I was satisfied overall with the results.
24 hours from the time the fumigation company releases the gasses out of the tent... you get a re-entry notice after 24 hours, but this may change depending on the company and the method used to disperse the gas.
If the rodent is in under the tent, it dies. If it enters the same entry point as before it was tented after the tent is removed, the issue may come back. So if you're renting for rodents, you'll want to make sure they tent and seal all entry points as best as possible. Good luck!

After a house gets fumigated, how likely is it, that it will need another fumigation? Does one fumigation usually take care of drywood termites?
My experience is that it kills them all under the tent
How does the Vikane Termite killing gas get inside the walls and ceilings if they are totally sealed by painted and caulked surfaces and edges?
It can penetrate walls and paint, etc. That's why you need a tent over the house in the first place... to hold the gas in
Every time I see a house undergoing fumigation with a tend on it, I always think of the movie Killer Klowns from Outer Space lol

Hello for any pest control company that does the fumigation tent for bed bugs does the gas have to be turned off
Yes. Your local natural gas/propane company should be notified. If you have an open flame, your house could blow up.

Do you know the active gas principle? Phosphine, Fipronil ...?
Thanks
I don't. I'd have to ask uncle Google.
@@mrsugmad the gas is sulfyrl fluoride and this company is using the vikane branded gas.
sulfuryl fluoride
Hey, you 😊
A quick question please…do fumigators go through your personal items in closets, drawers, (or plastic storage containers of kids toys, and baby clothing/ no food…etc), before they clear the house for fumigation.
I just got cleared but I'm still a little worried about how safe it is like counter tops the food in the bags bedding any advance?
I'd guess that if you followed all their instructions, you're fine. I was a little paranoid right afterward, too, too be honest. After a while, I remembered it was a gas and that the place is aired out for 24 hours before you're allowed back in anyway... if it makes you feel better to launder your bedding, do it. It's nice, mentally, as it puts you at ease... it did me, anyway... because it was a gas, there is no residue...
Did you have to leave any windows open during the fumigation or during venting?
Yes. We had several windows open
Thanks for sharing, great info. I also plan to fumigation my house.
Glad I could help!
Thank you for sharing (:
Edit:. righttttt. That's scary...
People might try to rob the place.
🙃🙄
Hi my question is what is the process of fumigation?
Simply put, a tent is put on the house, it's filled with toxic chemicals, it's aired out and the tent is removed. It's that what you were asking?
Will double bagging your makeup and skincare items be good enough
My understanding is it should be. They do that for food and you're allowed to consume it afterward, so it stands to reason you could for make up. Ask the fumigation company to be sure
I’ve been working at Costco for 3 years and my friend recommended me that this job.
Depending on where you live, it can be a very rewarding job, economically.
Does the tent work on german roaches?
I'm guessing it depends on the chemicals they use.
Are you allowed to be in the backyard
As long as you don't have to go through the tent to get back there or out of there, and the tent is installed correctly, you should be fine.
Anyone know how much this costs in 2022? Less than $1000 or more???
Probably closer to 2500-3k depending on your region
3,400 for me Florida
Very nice 👍
effective for blow flies?
I would imagine fumigation would kill blow flies, but you'll want to know why they're there in the first place. They like rotting flesh. If you have a blow fly issue, do you have road kill close by or dead animals under the house or keep your trash cans too close to the home? If you fumigate and you haven't taken care of the underlying issue, they'll likely return.
Does this work for bats too?
It'll kill any living organism in your home that the chemicals touch, that I know of. Good luck!
How much you paid for the job
$2800 as memory serves
👍

Just sent you an email requesting company. Thank you for the video and thank you in advance for the referral.
Got it! I just sent a response back. Good luck!
What the cost for
fumigation?
For what I did, it was $2800. My cost was higher because we had them pump additional poison in the tent and went 4 days instead of 3, if I remember right.
Thank u
Great video. Does it also kill rodents like mice or rats?
Yes it does, though in some countries it may be illegal to fumigate.
Those plants are dead. I did fumigations for 2 years. Never had a tented plant survive.
Interesting enough, we had several come back
@@RealEstateInvestingUnmasked I suppose it depends on what you are treating and the dosage being used.
My neighbor put a tarp over their house and I think there’s a rabbit under there😢
If they're fumigating, the rabbit better find its way out another hole
I also heard that periodically a bald man with glasses and a goatee visits the house for... "fumigating."
Possibly
Do this poison kill roaches as well
My understanding is that it does.
BREAKING BAD the movie comes to mind lol
We are doing fumigation now, a similar-sized property $7000!
Wow!
I work on fumigation to be honest they were lazy because those plants should’ve been save where i work we always save da plants atleast 9 times out of 10
We kept watering them after the fumigation and most everything was saved... but I agree that they could have done more... even then, I was satisfied overall with the results.
I watched this whole video to understand how many days til re-entry and he keeps repeating "couple days" 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
24 hours from the time the fumigation company releases the gasses out of the tent... you get a re-entry notice after 24 hours, but this may change depending on the company and the method used to disperse the gas.
Will this process kill rodents?
If the rodent is in under the tent, it dies. If it enters the same entry point as before it was tented after the tent is removed, the issue may come back. So if you're renting for rodents, you'll want to make sure they tent and seal all entry points as best as possible. Good luck!
I would of just threw away the food
Its a Circus lol
