Buying a CBR600rr for my Brother THEN he was HIT & Almost KILLED

  • When my brother started riding he got a ninja 300, he decided that he wanted to upgrade to a 600 and since he doesn't have much experience searching the internet for good candidates to purchase or how to spot a bad one. I decided I would help him find a good bike to purchase, I found a 2007 CBR600rr for 4500 with 11k miles and seemed to be in pretty good shape. I got there and found a few issues with it but overall the main components were in great condition. I did some work on it then I drove to Alabama to surprised him with it! after a few months in October Miller was headed home from work when another driver turned in front of him causing an awful wreck almost killing miller. Miller was going the speed limit and just passed a cop at the intersection who was there seconds after the accident. He was flow to the hospital and proceeded to have multiple surgeries over the next week, everything went well and he has been recovering nicely but still isn't able to walk months later. He should be fully recovered within the next few months.

Smart words out of you. Be active as a rider, prepare for the worst, expect the other road users to do the unthinkable.
Still, won't make you 100% safe but it'll make greater chances of you to survive.

Sorry for your brothers accident, speedy recovery, when I was watching him riding bike all I could think is accident waiting to happen, some people just don't have a natural aptitude to ride bikes, my brothers first bike was a cbr600f new in 2000year 2 weeks later he was a paraplegic!!! This brought it all back to me he recently passed away from complications off his condition, I have always carried some guilt as I have been biking since 13y and my brothers interests grew for bikes, a mid life crises found him secretly passing his test and turning up on his new bike to surprise me! When I watched him ride away my heart sank and I new it's a matter off time ! Same as your brother, but he was much luckier, please make sure biking is your vocation before comiting, I am 60y now and have several bikes but when I was a little kid cycling was all I wanted to do so on to motorcycles, I had all my offs on the dirt before the road and still going strong, you see when we were young my brother would always crash my bicycles and even some early motorcycle, but it all gets a bit real when you jump on modern sport bikes, I know it was t his fault but it never is, defensive riding and natural ability goes a long way, I would never buy any one a bike, if you feel the desire enough you will find a way. Not a dig, more a cautionary story.

I'm recovering from my accident that happened a month ago, broken ankle. Wasn't speeding and someone hit me from the side at highway speeds. Accidents like mine and his are eye opening because it shows you how vulnerable we are when riding bikes with other people that are not paying attention.

Taking a step back for that chain sound. Did you check the front sprocket?. OEM sprockets come with a rubber cushion for sound. Aftermarket typically don’t. Something to think about next time you run into it.

I've always loved motorbikes and I've had one since I was 12 years old, I'm 47 years old and I haven't had a motorbike in 12 years, I had the Yamaha R6 one night I managed to avoid having an accident twice.... I don't know how but I had reflexes and a lot of luck .... I stopped driving a motorcycle at night.... it became too dangerous even with all the care.... and over time, I gave up on having a motorcycle... but I still love it!

Even though he was inexperienced, and it wasnt his fault entirely, this also makes me really glad to have the european license system here. Have to start small, 3 exams to even be allowed on the road, at 18 you can start on a 125cc. 20years old for 35kw, and if you have your 35kw for 2 years, you can get a full power bike, or if not experienced at 24 years old, or "code 80" at 21, with a automatically released restriction to 35kw for 2 years. I'm sorry, but he didnt seem educated enough on motorcycles to me to ride even a 35kw safely on the road.

The reason the chain was so noisy was because the last owner put on a new chain and didnt change the sprockets, with the chain being too tight like that it wears the teeth of the sprockets unevenly then when they put new chain on it catches on the new chain because its not worn even to the sprocket, I know because I have changed chain before without changing sprocket and it made that exact sound, always change it as a set, n dont buy $50 amazon chain n sprocket, get a nice one like vortex n you wont have to adjust it or change it every 3 months, hope he has a speedy recovery just figured id solve that mystery for you if no one else has

Dude, with all respect, I wouldn't let your brother ride a motorcycle on the street at all... He was not ready in that video to drive on the street... He needs a lot of practice first with bike 50 or 125ccm, than to take 600ccm... He almost killed in that accident. He has injuries as if he fell from a plane :(

    • @charliecharlie9042

@@sirmsfthe’s got a point though, in the video he was riding with duck feet, straight arms, heels on pegs and he seemed to had trouble with the uturn. Maybe a lack of practice/confidence was a contributing factor to the final outcome, however accidents happen and I’ve got no reason to doubt the video so I’m not blaming the rider.

    • @orionmobile6545

@@sirmsftthe guy who wrote the comment is right. I rode a 200cc bike as my beginner bike. I had trouble in the first 1 year. I ride similar like his brother. I had trouble in turns like that, at stop light i duck walking. But after 3 years of riding the bike i finally got the perfect feet position, and only use 1 feet to stop my bike and never had to stop while taking tight turn just swiftly turn without problem. I think his brother doesn't push his 300cc enough to learn. The point of starting in lower cc bike is that u push it to the limit, and u correct your mistake and learn to improve over time. Some ppl took 2 years. For me it took me 3 years. Maybe his brother doesn't ride his 300 longer than i think. Sometimes u think u are ready, but the truth u are not ready

I believe it could be your rear wheel Alignment I can see in the video it’s not aligned Straight. It’s cocked to the right by a lot.. which would cause the teeth on sprockets to make that grinding sound. Just a thought. Tn Local..
