Enjoyed it…as always! I’m home sick today and finally feeling up to getting out of bed, so trying to catch up on FlossTube. Looking forward the retreat recap. It popped up in my notifications while I was watching this one. Happy Stitching! 1
Such great projects as always! I need to start Strawberry Birds. It’s gorgeous. That project folder is the cutest - I love fruit fabric! Fun to see your Jimmy Beans wool - they are right down the street from me. Thank you for sharing!
This is my first time watching your flosstube, and I throughly enjoyed your pieces. The Strawberry Birds is gorgeous! You also did an amazing job on making the dog more like your dog😃
Nice seeing your update - you have a lovely variety of projects. I was actually already working on The Gentle Rain when your video came up, so it was fun to see your progress, too, on the same project.
Hi Lauren, I do so enjoy your flosstubes and all of the projects you work on. I’m so happy that you taught yourself the magic loop. I think you’ll find that it’s a much better way to knit socks than the small circular. Socks should have negative ease, i.e. they should be smaller in circumference than your foot. I have seen that many people that use the small circulars end up with “floppy” socks. Also, the tighter (smaller) the gauge on your socks, the longer they’ll wear. I’ve knit over 20 pair of socks for my husband and he’s still wearing some that are over 20 years old. Enjoy all your projects and please keep sharing them with us - you inspire us.
Good to know that tight gauge helps with socks because I pretty much always knit too tightly!! Thank you for the info - I feel like knitting is such a rabbit hole and I am only at the very beginning of my journey!!
I definitely prefer stitching overall (for now!), but have found knitting to be a great activity just before bedtime. Easy to put in a few rows then set it to the side for bed.
Another fun video Lauren! I always enjoy your mix of stitching and knitting. So happy to see you trying a sock - you’ll learn a lot and turning the heel is pure magic. Happy Crafting -Carolyn
My favorite thing lately is the Thread Hopper! It has made counting so much easier. I loved seeing all your favorites in this video. Your projects are amazing.
Always love seeing your projects and congrats on being ahead on your WIPGO. I think you have the right idea of just working on whatever you want when that number is called. Also beautiful progress on your scarf. I have no idea how to knit but I'm impressed by the beautiful designs.
Thank you so much! I wanted to try WIPGO, but had a feeling that if I didn't give myself some flexibility, I'd never follow it. So this is really working for me so far! And thank you for the compliments on my knitting :) I'm still very new to the craft but have loved learning new things.
I appreciate your honest review of the stand. I have been contemplating getting one but was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get the 2 handed stitching technique down. You have inspired me to try something new too. Thank you.
I'm glad it was helpful! It has definitely been a learning process for me - one that I am very much still in. But I can finally see myself getting more comfortable and stitching more quickly, which is a great feeling.
Turning the heel is magic. I knit a lot of socks (such easy travel projects, especially on planes!) and sometimes, socks are boring with the exception of the heel. Of course, I've knit almost a half dozen pairs this year, so I think I've burned myself out. Whoops.
i have A Study in Nature all kitted up; i think i need to buy Coffee and Eggs with fabric and floss at Stitch North. Gigi designs the cutest charts!!! I'm glad you have gotten the hang of two handed stitching with the Hearthside Craftworks lap stand. I feel like I get so much more stitching done when I am set up with it.
Thank you for an honest discussion about how to go from one-handed to two-handed stitching. I think it would take me a long time to switch as well. Glad to hear it would be worth the effort for some of my projects to go quicker. Beautiful stitching as always.
I am so glad you got Brightneedle Dollhouse! It has been one that I have wanted to find for a while! I can't wait to see your finish of it! Thank you for sharing your beautiful stitching with us!
Thanks Rebecca!! I can't wait to share my progress on it; I'm considering starting it later this year, maybe a birthday start. I plan to convert the colors so need to give that some thought!
Your WIPS are all coming along so nicely! Because of you I purchased the Blue Flower Gentle Rain! It’s such a pretty pattern! And your knitting is gorgeous! Thanks for the review on the stand. Happy stitching!
Lauren i am so glad Elizabeth ann can stitch mentioned to watch your videos. I love them and your knitting, book review. Thank you so much. I am working on Considered the lilies.
Deck the Coop looks great! I really like the Strawberry Bird design too. I've been looking for a good lap stand. I stitch in a Q-snap too (poke and stab) with my feet up on the couch 😂. Sometimes it really hurts my wrists to hold the larger Qsnap frames, so I'm looking for something good that will work with them. I'm going to check out their site. Thanks for sharing!
I know exactly what you mean! Especially days when I stitch more than an hour or two my right arm holding the Qsnap really starts to hurt - and then I have to take a break from stitching. And who wants to do that!!
Wonderful video, Lauren. Your stitching is lovely. Some day I would love to try a Mira. Your half and half is the first I’ve seen with a speckle yarn. I love it. Yay, socks! Welcome to the dark side! Kay’s tutorials are great. I am a die hard DPN sock knitter.
Hi again - I see I am replying to both your comments today lol! I have thought about trying a Mira for a while, but I have to say I'm a little intimidated by all the back stitch, beading, etc. I also typically stitch on 40 ct. so it would be an adjustment to do 28 or 32 with two threads. But I still want to try one day!
Thanks for another great FlossTube video, Lauren! I loved how you customized the Gentle Rain piece to feature your adorable corgi. Brightneedle Dollhouse is one of my unicorn charts, too - so happy for you that you spotted it on eBay and were able to obtain it via a Buy It Now. 🎉. Last year, I was tracking one that was for auction and it went up to just under $200. 😅
I have that Brightneedle Doll House pattern too! It's so cute! There's also a Needlework Shop and a fun "spooky" one called Ezmeralda's House. Thanks for reminding me! Great video as always; it's always great to see everything you're working on!
Loved every minute of your “very” long video. You and your stitching are so inspiring. Love Hathaway Stitchers as well. I am getting the urge to try a Mill Hill as well. Take care.
Thank you so much for reviewing the lap stand. I have been a scroll rod/two-handed stitcher for many, many years and always appreciate hearing about these products. Of course, I was already familiar with them because of Caroline, but it was a great review.
I’m glad to hear it was helpful! I am so new to the game, still trying to figure out what works best - it’s hard to get that second hand to participate! 😂
Amazing progress on your projects. I really liked your stand review and hearing how learning 2 handed stitching is going for you. I want to give it a go, but when I tried it was really slow and awkward. It's good to hear that it took you a while to get and that it really does help. Thanks for sharing!
I will admit it really took me a while to get past the slow and awkward part, and I am still not fully a two-handed stitcher. I kept giving up because I felt my right hand was not learning the movement but it does just take some time - at least for me!

Great video, Lauren! Im also a lefty. I haven't tried using both hands to stitch. I've become an in hand stitcher, except when using Aida. I am a knitter and made my 1st pair of socks a couple of years ago. I tried magic loop...not for me lol. I prefer small circulars. Good luck with your socks. Your shawls are lovely. 😊
In hand stitching is another thing I would like to learn, though maybe that will have to wait a bit since I am still so new to two handed! For the socks it's so interesting - everyone seems to have a pretty strong preference for their own knitting between Magic Loop, circulars or DPNs - I guess I need to try all three to figure out what works best for me!
I stitch with an older floor stand from about 20 years ago. I have just ordered myself the floor stand drom evertotes. I am very excited! I have a hard time NOT using a floorstand now!!
Your cross stitch projects are great and I love watching them grow. I started knitting socks with double pointed needles and was quite comfortable with it. Hi Lauren! I would love to see how you set up the lap stand with the Q snap…I love two-handed stitching, but have really struggled to find the right stand. I also need magnifying light, so I just can’t seem to find the right set-up that’s comfortable for me. I love all your projects and really look forward to all your videos!

Hi there! I definitely don't think it's necessary to 2-hand stitch on it if you don't want to. Even when I'm stitching with one hand on the frame, it's a good way to give your other arm a break from holding the q-snap or hoop! If you're going to stitch with one hand, I'd recommend positioning the stitching area you're working on closer to the left or the right based on your dominant hand, just so that side of the frame is closer to you. ☺
You are such an inspiration and I really like how organized you are with your stitching. Enjoying all of your videos😊
