Hi I am a brother in Melbourne Australia, and it always amazes me that you Americans have to be badgered into voting, as in Australia we have no chose and will be fined if we dont exercise our right to vote.
You're only fined if you fail to vote after being registered to vote, as I understand it. We're obligated to register to vote when we turn 18 and it's an offence not to, but not everyone does and I haven't heard of anyone being penalised as a consequence.
I am a Christian. I love my church. But they have no problem standing against the abortion amendments(which is biblical and good), but they won't do it as a whole with all the other issues. I think church's should say where both candidates stand. Then, tell voters to base their decisions on those facts. Hopefully, voters will align their vote with Biblical issues. It actually baffles me that it seems many Christians don't vote that way. I don't claim a party, and this is one of the reasons.
My church hands out pamphlets from CTV. It shows all the candidates and the policies they support. It also shows their donors. In another section it shows what each donor supports. My church doesn't tell us who to vote for. My church teaches us biblical principals and to vote accordingly. We also held a Bible study based on the Constitution. One party is very pro-God, and the other isn't. Thats all i can say.

I have no problem with someone setting up a table in the lobby for information on candidates and registering people to vote. I am bothered, however, when I go to church and I'm supposed to learn from Galatians 5 (or whatever passage it might be), but my pastor spends half of his time at the pulpit talking about Trump or some other political issue and then we only get a 10-15 minute sermon. THAT bothers me. Leaving church thinking more about politics than about the Bible I think is an issue in some Churches. I don't think there's anything that is necessarily wrong with mentioning political things from the pulpit, but it shouldn't take up so much time and it should, at the very least, be related to whatever passage of scripture you're supposed to be looking at that morning. If your pastor is talking about political things from the pulpit and it is completely unrelated from what you're supposed to be learning in the scriptures then that is a waste of time.

I think we should pray for all our schools, and all people who teach. Simple fact is that once our children start going to school, they are exposed to many influences, from the teachers and the children. What example do the teachers set? Is the school a loving environment or a violent one?

You're only fined if you fail to vote after being registered to vote, as I understand it. We're obligated to register to vote when we turn 18 and it's an offence not to, but not everyone does and I haven't heard of anyone being penalised as a consequence.

I am a Christian. I love my church. But they have no problem standing against the abortion amendments(which is biblical and good), but they won't do it as a whole with all the other issues. I think church's should say where both candidates stand. Then, tell voters to base their decisions on those facts. Hopefully, voters will align their vote with Biblical issues. It actually baffles me that it seems many Christians don't vote that way. I don't claim a party, and this is one of the reasons.
My church hands out pamphlets from CTV. It shows all the candidates and the policies they support. It also shows their donors. In another section it shows what each donor supports. My church doesn't tell us who to vote for. My church teaches us biblical principals and to vote accordingly. We also held a Bible study based on the Constitution.
One party is very pro-God, and the other isn't. Thats all i can say.

I have no problem with someone setting up a table in the lobby for information on candidates and registering people to vote. I am bothered, however, when I go to church and I'm supposed to learn from Galatians 5 (or whatever passage it might be), but my pastor spends half of his time at the pulpit talking about Trump or some other political issue and then we only get a 10-15 minute sermon. THAT bothers me. Leaving church thinking more about politics than about the Bible I think is an issue in some Churches. I don't think there's anything that is necessarily wrong with mentioning political things from the pulpit, but it shouldn't take up so much time and it should, at the very least, be related to whatever passage of scripture you're supposed to be looking at that morning. If your pastor is talking about political things from the pulpit and it is completely unrelated from what you're supposed to be learning in the scriptures then that is a waste of time.
