she did a behind the scenes video of how she made this video! its so cool she never likes to use CGI. Also her and her brother finneas have a few videos going through how they produce her music :)

Finneas (Billy's brother and the sole producer) is incredible. He's only 26 now, and produced this album when he was around 19-21 (Billy was around 15-17), which is insane. His use of space, unusual noises as "instruments" (you'd be shocked how much of the music isn't even simulated instruments, they are literal phone-recorded sounds that have been manipulated in a lot of cases) and other things are designed fully with the intent of what you said, highlighting Billy's vocal choices, which they've talked about in interviews before.
They had plastic tubes taped up to her face, where they pumped the black liquid to. Everything but the liquid was removed Post production. The tubes themselves were colored according to her skin tone so it would be easier to remove, rather than just being clear plastic.
@@enjalejon6817 I 100% agree! I think it has its place, both in tasteful and subtle ways, but also in obvious ways that’s more of a different flavor. I just appreciate the work they put in to do all that without using it!
Her NDA music video is also practical effects and dangerous. I love her commitment to her vision for a music video and that she’s willing to take risks for it all
I remember watching her interview, they did stick a tube close to her eyes, so they can pumped the black liquid out like crying. however the team was againsted it cause it would went right into her eyes, but Billie was very insisted they MUST did it that way.
Billie got started around the age of 13, her voice has matured quite a bit she is now in her early twenties. Great example would be on SNL she did, Have Yourself a Merry Christmas…EXCELLENT!
Billie Eilish puts her pain and soul into her songs, and they really stand out as a result. Also mad respect for her lack of complacency; she's constantly experimenting with styles and sounds.
Everything I Wanted is a beautifully haunting song. Also, I think you guys should check out one of her “behind the scenes” type video with her brother. It’s gonna blow your mind seeing how it’s just the two of them making these songs. Love the reaction 🤙🏻❤️
Man I really love Billie and this song hit in a time I really needed it. I'm so glad you guys are covering her. I feel bad guy has been over covered, you guys should really do "Everything I wanted" "All the good girls go to hell" and "You should see me in a crown". Honestly though you really can't go wrong.
Keep in mind that she directs her own videos and is also a dancer. Billie is just the start of a whole new generation of ridiculously talented artists. Also, please do Happier Than Ever!
I've been a Billie fan for a while, she is very stubborn and determined about directing her own videos and she is very much about practical application or Artfullness. She also really admires other people's art. This video was inspired by a pencil and pen drawing that a fan mailed to her. She liked the drawing so much that she wanted to make it real. She had very very small tubes coming up along her face ( they did use computer to edit out the tubing) with a bag of a charcoal eye-safe liquid solution going into her eyes. She drank a charcoal/water/gum guar liquid too. So she was really drinking black sludge on set and really having black liquid travel along her tear ducts. It did sting her eyes, and tasted nasty according to Billie... so it really helped to make the video seem all the more genuine in it's emotional impact because there's real pain and discomfort.
As a new Billie fan and a huge Sleep Token fan... I prefer her the version best. He did an amazing job covering it, but her high notes just gave me the chills. She is an amazing vocalist. More Billie, please😊
Billie used to be in a chorus. Her parents are artist her mother is an actor/singer/teacher. She homeschooled both Phineas and Billy and she taught them how to write lyrics for songs. They always had instruments (pianos guitars)and sang in the house.

she's got soul! :) her sound is magnetic, her lyrics is so poetic... sometimes it's like she is crooning at you, sometimes you sing along out loud and bopping.. to all these same songs! so when you listen to their studio version, then the live concert versions and then the music video, then the acoustic performances... it's billie genre! (middle aged lady here)
When it comes to the VFX, I believe there’s a behind the scenes of this music video somewhere where you can see how they did it! They basically put clear tubes near her eyes where the black liquid came out, then edited out the tubes

From the little I know about Billie, she was in what she would call a "toxic relationship" with a guy that hurt her pretty bad. I always saw the glass of black liquid as her "consuming" all the supposed love/attention/whatever from the relationship because she didn't know it was bad. Then the tears part is her crying out the toxicity, so to speak. At the end, she is "broken" by the relationship which causes the large spill of liquid. Of course it's all up to interpretation but that's what always jumped out to me when I see the video. Loved the reaction guys. Definitely need more Billie! I'd recommend "All the Good Girls go to Hell." I feel like you would dig that one.
She always records her own harmonics on her songs. She and her brother Finneas are just amazing on everything that she done. They have done various videos of the behind the scenes of recording different songs, and it's truly fascinating how much work they both put into the songs. Billie is also an amazing performer live. In certain settings, Finneas will sing the harmonics. I definitely suggest checking out her live performance of the Bond theme that she wrote "No Time to Die." Either the one at the Oscars or the one at the Brit Awards. People always ask what kind of genre she does and the answer is - she does Billie. She's wholly unique. Side note - Finneas also has an EP and LP out with his own music. His songs have a different feel to them, as he's always said that the only person that can sound like Billie....is Billie. He refuses to produce anyone else's songs the way he does hers.
Some older songs you should listen to are Bellyache, or You Should See Me in A Crown. If you want to see how far she has come vocally, I would listen to No Time to Die, or Happier than Ever. Or even What was I made for.
I'm just gonna repeat my comment from your previous BE reaction: To trully appreciate the lyrics you need to go through her discography chronologically. Her albums are like chapters in the story of her life. You get to take a peak at her mental and emotional journey. And productions (and lyrics too) by Finneas are chef's kiss.

Its pretty cool how they did it But its just tubes that are then faded out in post video production
There's a behind the scenes video of how they created the black tears special effects. Basically, they stuck on small tubes that were closely matched to her skin tone to the sides of her nose, in the corner of her eyes, and then edited out the tubes after in editing.
i haven't watched the behind the scenes in a while but billie is super into doing things practically. even for this video, i feel like i remember her saying that the liquid actually really hurt her eyes but it was worth it for the shot. and in case anyone is curious how they did it, i can't remember what the liquid was, but they put prosthetic tubes along the bottom of her eyes and then the opening was basically right beside the inner corners of her eyes. so it got all in her eyes and streamed perfectly down her face. super wicked effect, and so worth it for the impact it had in the video. also yeah, more billie eilish! she's a super fun artist to get into.
She has a behind the scenes on her channel and also on her Doc (which I recommend - the world is a little blurry). She had two little tubes skin coloured coming from the hairline to eyes and the pumped the black liquid through the tubes. Only digital here was the tubes deleted digitally after all the rest is real. It's all her creative idea too, we can see her on the doc planning the angles and everything on her backyard. It's all the one-shot which is even more impressive. She had a director in this one but after she was 18 she started directing her own videos too.
The way they did the tears was actually teeny tiny tubes that opened at her tear ducts and followed her bottom lash line. Then there was someone off screen pumping the liquid. In post, they keyed out the tubes. It was shown in her documentary on Apple TV
Hell yeah, please continue your Billie Eilish journey, it's so cool to see you genuinely enjoy her artistry! I'd recommend Everything I Wanted, or Happier than ever, next
This video always makes me emotional. It's like you can see the pain, and the black is toxicity taking over her. She is crying, and you can see the pain. It's like depression and pain made beautiful, idk how else to put it.
