Santana is one of the reasons I’m gay. So is Mercedes. So is Brittany. So is sugar. And every girl in this song. And every girl in the original. And every girl. Basically what I’m saying is I’m gay
artist 252 it’s ok lmao, I try to pretend that that plot line ever existed, and I will never refer to her as a he, not because I’m transphobic, but because that was a shitty contradicting storyline. They executed uniques trans story so much better, because she started out as trans, unlike beiste was upset about being manly and came to the realization that it’s ok to be a masculine woman
oh honey... been there, done that. I'm sure not a single gay/bi woman has ever watched Glee because of its plot. It always gotta be because of Santana OR any other Glee girl hahaha
this was a really inappropriate song to sing for this situation like i can only imagine what coach beiste was feeling, but god i love watching this scene it's honestly one of the best performances and i'm just so gay
While it maybe wasn’t the best song choice-I do kinda disagree with the last lady speaking. I don’t fully disagree-don’t get me wrong-this song wasn’t the best choice But the poppin gum was referencing that her husband was lazy and not a good guy. And the song itself is a great song. It can be a song about leaving an abusive relationship. Just not this specific stage in that relationship. It’s more of a-when it’s over type song, or a “he should be scared of me” Song. Basically-I see where the girls are coming from-I dont fully agree with the situational standpoint-but I do understand why they did this song
@@aki9059 she didn't say that... she agrees with leaving a toxic husband. As she said, she doesn't agree with it for this particular situation, but if you interpret it as a song about leaving a shitty partner, you can understand why the girls chose it. you sound like the people who think the kill all men thing is literal
You wouldn’t say that it’s fine for a husband to kill his wife for chewing gum or being lazy so why do you think it’s okay here? How is that ‘gender equality’??? It’s a double standard is what that is. You’re trivializing female violence and violence against men. This isn’t the ‘empowering’ song you think it is. If it had been a song of them singing about how they *DEFENDED* themselves against violent abusive men-which I think only ONE of these parts was, the woman with knife-then you would have had a point. But no.
It's not fitting on the theme, but there was a woman (at least in the movie version, idk about all the live ones) who was actually innocent, but couldn't plead her case because she couldn't speak any English. She was the only one convicted of her crime, even though she didn't commit the murder. All the other murdereresses of the cook county jail got away with what they did and were eventually released. It's not a song about female empowerment, but rather about the unfairness of the judicial system of the time. My point here is that not all of the women were crazy murdering their husbands for popping gum.
So im here years later to reassure myself that sugar never sang a verse here but on Spotify’s full version there she is. Not sure how I feel about it being in my playlist messing up my mind...
sugar had a great voice they could’ve just said that her dad hired a vocal coach because she wanted to do more solos to throw out that tone deaf story line
2:31 "You girls are cray-cray! You were supposed to pick a song that gave women the self-esteem and courage to get the hell out of an abusive situation. But, oh no! You picked a song about crazy women in their panties killing their men for chewing gum! How is that supposed to help?"
This is my least favorite version of the Cell Block Tango that I've seen so far, because it completely misses the point of the song. This song is about five crazy murderers and one woman who is innocent, but accused because she doesn't speak any English. Most renditions of the Cell Block Tango include one person singing in another language for the girl who says "uh-uh" because that's one of the most important parts of the song. The whole point behind the musical is that while all these women are going around acting like a badass and getting away with murder. The one woman who is innocent is the one who is defenseless and gets hanged. While all the real killers walk free. This is about injustice in the US justice system in the 1920's. Not only are they totally off mark for the theme that was chosen, but by leaving out that crucial part of the song they butchered it. They removed the part of the song that really packs the punch, the part that tells you what this musical is about.
I know it wasn’t the assignment, and it hurt Biest, but if it was a different assignment, it should be considered amazing because it really was. Also, guys, remember when Marley was suspended for not wearing a bikini in front of all her classmates and her teacher after just recovering from an eating disorder? Yeah apparently she got suspended for not fitting the assignment. They didn’t but they didn’t get suspended. Throughout the show people didn’t do the assignment and didn’t get suspended, only Marley, for reasonably not wanting to wear a bikini- #F*cMRSCHUE lol
My sexuality is Santana saying scissero

Right
Anyone else rewind to hear Sugar and her "lipshitz"?
I know I did❤
What is lipsgiz
Ruby Bevan idk. It’s part of the original song and sugar says that part
I love it so much
Ruby Bevan in the original song they explain. it’s basically that last name of the person that she killed in the chicago (the musical)
SUGAR IS SO CUTE AND HER VOICE IS EXTREMELY UNDERRATED
i love her speaking voice, its so cute
The only time you can here her backup vocals are in this song. Wish she recorded more
The writers barely included her
If it wasn't for her then there would be no trouble tones
They just got rid of her!!!! :(
@Caleb Mayfield because her dad made the troubletones
Because she couldn't join the one directions
When Santana said Cicero it was so hot who agrees

I miss Naya, She helped me to leave the closet and discover myself bisexual and I will always remember her with great affection
*Sugar* is low-key my favourite voice in this song
