They are comparing to their own previous gen not other companies product so what they are saying is that from their own last gen this has slimmer brezels

As an old Apple employee it’s interesting to see the Steve Jobs presentation style so many companies use now. Also a fan of Echo products…..
I have Google Home with a Nest Audio speaker
I am kind of bummed that Apple is not going back to the live presentations. It was theatrical.
The problem is the speakers need to be super captivating like Steve, otherwise is gets stale fast. Apple's pre produced videos are better if you don't have great personalities.
It’s amazing how many companies mimic his old Apple keynotes.
Last kids fire tablet I got for my daughter was so sluggish and buggy, we ended up opting out for an iPad mini. Let me tell you, the difference in speed and interface is unbelivable.

Why is everything a subscription. You pay to save your life. You pay to show a photo. This makes no sense, its not like its doing any cloud processing and even if it was, its there servers, it doesnt even cost them a cent. And what makes a $200 kindle "pro."

Fire HD Kids Pro? There is the most oxymoronic overuse of the “Pro” moniker. If a tablet designed for kids can be “pro,” what do words mean at this point.
The whole Firestick 4K Max segment sounded like it came from Apple in terms of how they spoke about it

Damn, its a bit scary knowing the camera is always on
I get it. But people say this all the time, but your mobile has a camera in the front and back and is always connected to cellular and I never hear anyone complain about that nor put tape on their phone.
@@PhilipGlenn well your phone's camera isnt always on. Your battery would be drained VERY fast if it was. Plus on iphone there is a little orange dot that shows up in the corner of your screen when camera is being used.

Wow, that was incredibly boring. Was really hoping to see something cool from amazon like maybe an echo show with a smaller bezel or a water proof echo i can use by the pool.... something creative. Dang. Maybe next year.

@@rickiehoxtonfor anyone trying to answer the original question. This guy has the right idea. Amazon sells products AT COST or even at a LOSS during Prime Day/Cyber Monday. They make the money back on the services and from taking about 30% from everyone that sells on Amazon.

I've had portable speakers , they're very convenient . I already have a 5.1 wired system that I use for movies or music CDs.
Amazon didn't need this in person event. All of this boring stuff they announced should have just been streamed instead.
I thought this was quite a fresh and innovative keynote. A nice change from the PC and smart-phone (and how many cameras can they fit on a phone) keynote
Not to knock on Amazon but if you told me the announcement came out in 2019 I would believe it. I think the only thing impressive is how everything is relatively affordable. However none of the tech inside is gonna wow most people.

I use my Amazon Echos all the time and I like them but they're always missing the mark. How about an Echo with ethernet? An AI enabled Echo? The should all have an audio output- unlike my Echo 5th gen- which I find very odd.

because apple events have become pre recorded.

The Echo hub is a great idea!
I like it too. But I feel it's a little small and should have been at least 11"

Fire Stick is based on Android so you have ability to side load stuff that is huge Benefit..

@mediocritycentral for the 3rd gen echo show 5, it got a new speaker design and took away the aux plug. They increased the speed a little.

Absolutely nothing here which even slightly entices me to want to buy it. Alexa is looking darn stupid in these days of ChatGPT and Bard. Barely understand anything or can answer anything. Fire TV interface was messed up a few years ago making me have to work hard just to find my apps. What is Blink vs Ring, which Amazon owns - just confusing. Amazon is a very successful mess of a company….

Everyone is ripping off Apple Events these days. I am not talking about the product themselves. People can have their own opinions on them. It’s the event it’s self that looks like everyone is like copying and pasting how Apple does it.

Their product design is really dated at this point. ...so cringey. Get rid of the bezels already, it's not 2012 any more.

THEY GOTTA STOP WITH THE PEACOCK & DIRECT TV BUTTONS NOBODY USES THOSE APPS.
This is all crap - Nothing new that's getting ahead of what they and their competitors have in the market today.

Per ordering everything I just saw
DO NOT BUY ANY SHOW DEVICE! They have become FORCED AD monsters!!! You can't shut off ads anymore. Some, yes, but no longer all. Even with all of the ads off in the settings, I still get tons of ads, especially for Alexa Skills(apps). You can play whack-a-mole with individual Alexa Skills apps, BUT they come back in a few days. Ask the weather, and by the second information screen, 80% of the screen is product ads from Amazon. No exaggeration. My Show now is on night mode 23:59 a day, and only shows a pale dark clock. I couldn't stand seeing ads instead of my pictures. The Show should cost $0.99. Or rather they should pay people to take it.
Thanks Amazon, we hate you.
