I owned the Magic 4 Pro last year. Upgraded to the Magic 5 Pro. Great improvements overall. The selfie camera on the 4 Pro was better in my opinion, the 5 Pro has too much AI assistance in photography. The 5 Pro feels better in the hand because the screen is less curved. BEST display hands down. I keep mime at 90hz to improve battery, I get a day and a half. Charging is blazing fast. Can't go back to anything less than 60 watts.
No there not 🤦🏾♂️🤣 Honor smartphones are similar to Huawei smartphones but with the latest Snapdragon processor and 5G! Not surprising their similar since Huawei used to own Honor. And several ex Huawei employees work at Honor.

I have the Google pixel 7 and I m going to update either to Pixel 8 Pro, S23 Ultra, or Honor Magic 5 Pro ( I used to have Huawei P40 Pro). If the pricepoint is the same what would you choose? Honor needs to get their software right. The Magic Vs is poorly optimized for the foldable form factor. Magic 5 Pro has a still a stuttering issue at 120Hz with video playback. The whole UI is half assed done. They put out the MagicOS 7.1 new control center without the integration of dialogs and speed improvements they rolled out in China. The Magic 4 Ultimate Chinese variant feels like having a good smooth OS with integrated dialogs and such. The global variant on the Magic 5 Pro is not good at all. UI and UX inconsistencies all over the place. Check wifi or bluetooth quick toggles for example. They open the old UI for choosing the Wifi or BT devices.
long time honor user going backward from iphone i can say any android that come across by far honor is the best in term of camra , speed , battery you name it all the flagship thingy is inside the honor it self

I think you should just go for Magic 5. But at this point, maybe wait for Magic 6 Pro to launch since it should be announced during MWC in Feb 2024.
