- With two trailers at SWC and a bunch of articles and videos dropping shortly after, the COTW content just keeps on coming. So here's my take on everything we know so far.

I really hope SNK can pull this off. I got introduced to SNK through KOF 13, but I got really into SNK once I learned about Terry’s story, the Orochi & NESTS Sagas, played Metal Slug, and watched a certain video on AOF 3. But the more I followed the story of KOF, the more I disliked some of the recent storylines since a lot of the characters don’t develop (Kyo & Iori fight for the upteenth time in KOF XV and I’m just as sick of it as Chizuru is). However, I’ve consistently enjoyed Fatal Fury and AOF’s story & characters, so I’m hoping they can stick the landing here.

You know that if Joe and Andy aren't in the release roster they'll probably be season 1 DLC. Though that also brings into question why they were in the poster in the first place.
Round wave looks like a combo extender here. I'm here for it.
I think worse case scenario, a good chunk of this roster is going to consist of newcomers and Garou Veterans. Classic characters like Joe and Andy might be put aside for DLC
But hopefully I’m wrong and they’re included in the base game too
I doubt it, SNK might be ballin', but they're ballin' on a budget. They'll reuse Joe, Andy, Billy, and Mai in some fashion for sure, especially since they (or their voices) have shown up in teasers and posters for this game. They're the kind of company that'll say "woah, hang on there, there's still a lot of meat on this bone! Throw it in a pot with some broth, veggies, and baby you've got yourself a stew going."
I'd be down for a couple more newcomers but if Preecha is setting the standard then uh

Doubt it, especially when Joe and Andy straight up already had artwork alongside Terry for this game specifically
@@JohnSexDDPreecha's a good addition imo. Design and personality subjective and even then it's nowhere near the worst (it's not Xanadu for one). Gameplay is also great
Also another great thing about her is that she plays *nothing* like Joe which I'd say means that Joe definitely still has a shot of showing up. Would be cool to see Joe and Preecha's different takes on Muai Thai akin to how Garou has two of Kim's boys and their different takes of taekwondo
Honestly I would like that quite a bit.
Not going to lie…even if we just get an arcade ladder…I’m curious who could be the final boss.
Dolvic could be an interesting sub-boss and maybe finish Marco’s Story Arc from the last game…then it always probably meant to be Yamazaki.
But yeah…SNK looks to be pushing the story forward…and it could be setting up KOF XVI’s Roster.
But yeah…I hope those cameos don’t deconfirm King & Jack…or Andy & Joe.
But yeah…any predictions for EVO Japan on who could get revealed?
I feel like a good reveal for EVO Japan would be one of the MOTW veterans who never showed up as playable again. Marco, the Kim twins, Hokutomaru, etc.
Personally, as long as all the Garou 1 characters return (and preferably in the base game), I think it'll be fine. It'd be surprising to have a sequel to Garou and not have the characters from Garou (I gave SF shit about this, but SF6 isn't a direct sequel to 3 so at least it has that excuse).
And yes, that does specifically mean Kim Dong Hwan, even if he's just Kim with a funny name.

As someone who's first SNK game was KoF XV, can't wait to try this game out
As long as we get a new AOF game I don't mind getting only Mr. Karate in COTW as the only AOF fighter.

I am pretty sure Andy voices was in the initial evo teaser, i wouldn't worry about him being replaced.
I admit, I love so much this franchise so yes, I have a really high expectation on this game! This game has to be a sucess! SNK only needs to do the right things. From what I see till now, the only thing I would change in the game is Preecha design (believe me, I was expecting a not so extravagant visual from her. I think her old design suits better.). And also, not so colorful special effects. But aside from that, the game looks pretty interesting.

I love SF6 and sure it has objectively better graphics, but I personally much prefer this cartoony/comic book art style for fighting games. I really hope SNK can make this game great, I read an interview with the director and it sounds like there’s a lot of pressure on him to perform, I think this is their big shot at appealing to the masses.

What's up with the reactions about Preecha's design ? I mean she's Joe's pupil damn it, this design totally makes sense ! And I'm not saying this because Joe is my favourite character… Well okay maybe a bit, but it still makes sense !
Now even if I'm happy to see that Garou is back, I'm not too happy with the graphic style they used there… I would have like something more in line with the previous chart seen in Mark of the Wolves, with the same kind of graphic effect but with way more details and frames since we have HD now. This 3D looks like kind of stiff, heavy and cumbersome. I don't feel the smoothness I'm used to with MOTW. It doesn't feel as much integrated and homogeneous. I mean, the previous one was like the peak of 2D graphism we could get at the time, to the point that even today it's still look awesome to the eye. On the other hand this 3D…
Well most important thing is that it plays well. And I want Joe, Kaphwan, Bob and Duck King back !

Yeah it's looking good so far art-style wise, they finally achived a good mix between samsho(2019) and XV .My only complain is I don't like how hotaru face is the same one iroha got.
The story is not looking good imo, i'm surprised you didn't mention that terry and rock got no special intro. Maybe because it is an early solid build of the game it wasn't finish and this was just a placeholder. It has me worry is gonna be same as XV.
Yeah Im thinking andy and joe are gonna be reduced to story interactions instead of playable shit sucks.
Well, Andy and Joe were supposed to appear in the canceled Garou 2 for the Neo-Geo, but only as NPCs, possibly as cameos during a win pose or cut-scene alongside their apprentices, Hokutomaru and Kuan Konta (now Preecha) respectively

Yeah, I would've preferred that they just reused the concept from when a 2D Garou 2 was being a thing. Preecha just looks a bit too much.

@@Brandonweifu ...That's not what he said. You might want to try actually reading the full sentence instead of just seeing "2D" and then just assuming the rest.
A bit much perhaps, but in motion the only thing that sticks out to me is her hair color and glasses. I can’t say I’m a fan of the glasses, but I think the hair pairs quite nicely with her moves. She’s no Shun Ei or Dolores in terms of overdesign, that’s for sure.
I also heard somewhere that her design is based on several real world Muay Thai fighters.
I'll say,there will be intros and endings in anime form,i'm sure,Obari is long working on this.........like Street Fighter 4 (whom Oda worked in),than i'm sad to say,at least in the main install and in story mode,Andy and Joe will be not playable for me,i believe they will be added as dlc with individual arcade mode,that's for sure.
I played the first Fatal Fury, back in 1991, now I'll play the last one, in 2025. Plus, John Sex, I agree with everything you said! SNK better not fuck this up.
An SNK fan eh Mr. Sex? Rather cultured indeed. Looking forward to city of the wolves, Mark is a good time. Preecha is interesting, just not super fond of the design much. Saw some concept art for her character back when they were working on a sequel in the 90s, prefer that look more. She's just too... Modern internet dweller looking lol.
The game looks sick, if they give some moves a bit more OOMPH and tweak the faces a bit and we have a perfect looking game.
Im not even asking something like a cinematic story just see some of the "old magic" of the series, you didnt need a overr the top story mode to feel the game had a worthy story to tekl
Am I misremembering or doesn’t both Andy and Joe have voice lines in the first teaser? I’m pretty sure Andy fights Mai and Joe fights Billy.
What you're remembering as Andy's voice was actually an older Hokutomaru who's balls have dropped

I also don't agree with SF6 looking better than Fatal Fury COTW. The art style doesn't mesh well and it makes SF6 look strange. It's more like the art style is there to keep it from looking generic instead of complimenting the graphics. Tekken 8 does look beautiful though even if it looks like a prettier Tekken.

For me personally I'm not as hyped for this as I was for KOF15. Everything on the surface level is fantastic, but what I find lukewarm are the mechanics. I have never been a fan of the SPD system, I don't like the change to throw inputs (god I hope KOF16 doesn't change now) and while I don't dislike the Rev System, it is at the end of the day just a variant of SF6's Drive System. For me, COTW's comes across as Street Fighter Lite and as someone who doesn't like playing Street Fighter anymore (I haven't since SFA3) I don't see myself staying invested in this game for long. I imagine SNK has done this so it can attract the SF6 crowd as familiarity has always been a great way to bring people over from other franchises, plus there's nothing more intimidating than having to study an encyclopedia's worth of info just to be competitive (KOF's mandatory study of three characters minimum). It's going to be super interesting who they will bring back. I just hope no stupid plot device is used to bring dead characters back as that always the impact dead characters leave after they have died.
I love KOF and preferred it over Fatal Fury especially Mark of The Wolves. But knowing that this game will add even more mechanics is making me excited to play it. SNK really cares about not alienating their fans. Also this is taking SF6's drive impact and making it better which sounds good.
.....And i bet Terry dies in this game,that's just a feeling,after all,SNK wanted Kyo and Iori dead in KOF 97 and South Town destroyed in KOF 2000 and also Terry dead in KOF 99,they always try something dramatic..........

I really don't know why folks keep doomposting about Joe and Andy when they were already in a poster for the game alongside Terry. Both of them will definitely show up and as playable characters, I have a good feeling
At worst they'll be DLC but I feel the only classic FF characters that showed up in KOF that'll be DLC are Geese and maybe Duck King and Yamazaki
