This is the best reaction video yet! We dragged Masutangu, my freshly fastback-converted 1965 Mustang on a 1996 Civic chassis, to Ford Carlisle once again and parked it next to dozens of beautiful, original Mustangs. The reactions this time around are awesome. Enjoy!

They just don't seem to realize: 1) it's keeping hot rodding alive, whatever it takes & 2) that Mustang would probably be rotting into the ground if a young, talented little smart ass kid named Tom didn't come along & be the hero that he is (let's face it) & rescue it!
Also the fact that it’s fucking cool and he could always swap a built k series and get like 900 hp
One of the few VW Baja's that will get my thumbs up is a Baja rescue. This Stang is a great example of that mindset. Tom just needs to keep doing Tom things

It's amazing. You can tell the magazine car dudes apart from the mechanic and engineer dudes. Anyone who understands the machine and doesn't just look at it, is appreciating the effort and fun that went into this.
The funniest part is that engine the dohc vtec b18 is basically a little race engine you can drive everyday and do anything too its such a well made engine but its small as shit so its still not that fast stock. I used to not understand until i drove something like that and it was so fun, I'd still drive toms other mustang bc its definitely way more fun than a civic chassis and fwd lol

I dont think a ton of people will really bat an eye at a LS swapped f-100 as it’s pretty common to “LS swap the world” nowadays. im a fox guy and it’s certainly ran through my head to make good power cheap lol.
Not saying that the immense work that tom does should be downplayed. In a world of donut medias Tom’s a breath of fresh air. Best car content on RUclips rn. he’s chassis swapping, that’s TONS of work. But as you could tell here most of the guys at these shows couldn’t even tell you if it was FWD. let Alone a tube chassis. the fact the motors pointing sideways. of course it’s fwd lol.

I showed my dad pictures of Masutangu. While it's not his cup of tea (as he is naturally biased to the American V8s) he does like the craftsmanship that went into it and that it's probably the fastest car at the car show.

@@0Failure00depends, the ones that actually take part in the car scene (racing, work, etc ...) are more accepting to this kind of stuff. My dad (in his 70s) likes Masutangu, it's something he wouldn't do himself but he knows the amount of work and money that went into it and that it is modern hot rodding.

I'd love to see what people would think at that meet if someone made and took "Masutangu 2.0" there. It's the basically the same concept, but instead of using Honda Civic underpinnings, they used a Ford Probe instead. The Probe was essentially a rebodied Mazda MX6 that was supposed to be the successor to the Mustang, but after some market testing, Ford discovered that it would be a terrible idea, went back to the drawing board, revised the Fox platform and introduced the SN95 to the world in 1994.
It would still be a FWD Japanese car with an American body plopped onto it, but everything has an OEM Ford badge and part number on it.
Not my thing but I’ve followed the build, you took a civic and two old stands that were probably headed for scrap and turned it into something different. You enjoy it and it annoys people in a good way….awesome

I came across this a little while back and glossed over it. As I’ve grown older I’ve gone from a “thats a terrible thing to do” mindset to a “whatever you can dream make it real” attitude I’ve watched him build the car and the car’s character evolve and it’s been a wild ride. This is indeed some of the best automotive content on RUclips. Now I’m off to fiddle with my corvette some more.

As a musician as well as a car enthusiast, I say well done! Hot rodding guitars and cars often have many similarities. Most times its much easier to do custom modifications rather than trying to source all the "correct" vintage parts. Especially considering the cost involved of doing so. In the end, it is all about passion and making old stuff come back to life with a purpose and a vision. I can appreciate period correct examples that stay true to the originals, but at the same time, its not always a feasible option. Sometimes ya just gotta improvise and make it work to suit your own preferences and style. Keeo doing it, Brother!

Not into many Frankenstein projects as a whole, but I completely respect the build and appreciate all makes and models. Love all vtec Honda motors, love most V8s, love each to be in their respective makes but I like your car.
If I went to a car show and saw this I'd say "How'd this guy get a hold of the 2028 Mustang concept?" before I thought long enough to realize that any future car is going to have batteries.
Surprises me how many people go to car shows and not know anything about cars and have no respect for anybody's build it's not my cup of tea but pretty cool build even better build because it has a Honda engine
I used to go to car shows all the time but I (mostly) stopped when I realized that everyone has the same set of cars with the same sets of engines in them. Every vintage car show just felt like a copy-paste from the last one and it got so boring so quickly. THANK YOU for adding variety to these shows and showing these purists that they don't need to have the most OEM unreliable basic bitch cars like everyone else to fit in
Regaardless of the motivation source...Its keeping the Mustang Alive...Small 4 or Straight 6 or 8 regardless..Either way you got the attention you wanted some people dont even bother to look..So I think even negative comments is a big win.
