- Someone in the studio (with the initials W.K.) got tired of watching "KOTJ" being taught incorrectly on RUclips. So, on a challenge, that same complainer taught our "resident youth" William Olivas to play it correctly. If William can do it, anyone can. And now you can, too. Finally! Now, once more, with feeling...

I loved Wayne's videos so much. I can't believe he's gone. Such a great person.
I just learned the sad news today, very sad, I loved the man and his book was great. That's why I am watching this now and playing it!! RIP Wayne you were one of a kind!
We've lost a giant. Guess we'll have to walk harder, to fill those footsteps
@@dwolivas it must have been so tough for you. I really appreciated the videos you two did together. All the best.
RIP Wayne … thanks for all the great music.
…But it’s not only Wayne’s guitar that is special, his dancing on stage, looking as he is at times in a state of levitation ,brings the performance to an entirely different level! Thank you!
You're so right, he danced like James Brown with ants in his pants all while playing the most blistering rock and roll guitar
When I met Brother @Wayne Kramer back in the late 70s I was 16 years old and laying down rhythm tracks for Fats Deacon's semi-hit "What you wanna be?" I was vamping the whole song and my hand and forearm (of my fretboard side) were killing me.
I didn't think I could go back in to do my backup power chords.. Not with conventional Barre chords, so Brother Wayne said, "Hey kid, why don't you just play 5ths?" I was confused. Then when he showed me what 5ths were I said, "Oh yeah.. I know those, I just didn't know they were called 5ths." So that was the first thing Brother Wayne ever taught me.. Thank you, Sir. He taught me so much after that, I owe him much.
Brother Wayne has come to testify. There is hope for us after all.
Awesome‼️
ARE YOU READY TO TESTIFY?!😁👍
Wayne I first saw the MC5 in August of 68 in Lincoln park Chicago.. You dudes were playing when the Riots in Chicago started.saw carnage that day..kick out the jams
Are you gonna be the problem?
I love Wayne's opening about "they are getting it wrong". I laugh at it everytime. Such a great man.
God Bless Brother Wayne Kramer. Kickin Out the Jams in the great beyond. RIP Wayne.
man even all these years later that riff is just electric when he plays it. pure rock and roll
Some of the best on-stage energy ever came outta this cat..... Cheers!
When he goes to the solo. MY GOD. Havent loose his touch
i miss this man so much RIP Wayne, we will never forget you. keep rockin brothers and sisters, That's what he would have wanted.
I love the way MC5 blended the guitar tones ! Freight train of sound! MC5 forever! ✊🤘👍
to get to learn a classic tune like this straight from the horses mouth is amazing. the internet is truly a blessing
OK then! Thanks for this. Now could you do a Prof. Wayne lesson on how to do the signature toe-dragging dance move while soloing like on the Ramblin' Rose video from WSU?
C Kimmell Absolutely agreed, the toe drags and the "spin and drop to one knee" move in the "Looking at You " video are epic. Great showmanship! KOTJMF's!!!
The dance lessons will follow, but Looking At You is live!
ARE YOU THE REAL WAYNE KRAMER FROM THE MC5 ? :) THATS SO COOL , TO THINK YOU WERE A MUSICAL AND CULTURAL HERO OF THE 1960'S AND NOW HERE WE ARE IN THE YEAR 2018 :)
@@sonicjet7759 Wayne is still a hero!
@@WayneKramerMC5 Tartar Field is one of the greatest rock moments ever caught on tape, kiss ass forever bro!

Detroit Rock, at it's FINEST! Thank you, Wayne!!
Greatest white rock and roll band in the history of America. Thank you so much Brother Wayne And crew!
We used to play correctly in 1976/1978, here in Brazil, Wayne...maybe you never heard about our country, but we are here and still kicking out a thousand jams!
Peace and rock on!
Fred, and Wayne just had that chemistry together. Really special for a short space in time. Too bad Fred didn’t get to enjoy his golden years, and share his wisdom like Brother Wayne Kramer. You guys will never be matched RIP Rob, Fred, and Michael. Long live the MC5!!!
Just amazing Mr Kramer MC5 forever.👊🏽🎸
Riffs like that save lives!
Sonic was fuckin outtasite! Playing those tight bars while doing fucking backbends!?! Legend. Luv ya brother Wayne. Thanks for all the good times and for staying true, legit, and most of all, righteous💛
I met Wayne 10/27/18 in Detroit and got to hold the flag strat. He is great to the fans.
Distinguished professor Wayne Kramer. Such a lovely person🙏❤️
Thank you Wayne! I’ve been playing slightly, slightly different but I myself learned “kick out the jams” by ear. But now seeing the true master play it , I will forever play it correctly.😁👍
My heart is broken. Thanks to Brother Wayne for the kick ass rock n roll.
Rest in power Wayne ,,I saw MC5 when they came to the UK at the Greyhound south London all those years ago , I’ve seen many bands over the years but that was wild,, Fred sonic smith was wearing some kind of cape that got caught in the tuners of his guitar and it wouldn’t come off ,he was getting really pissed offwith it , so he took the guitar off and started swinging it round Holding onto the cape , how that guitar didn’t go flying out into the crowd and hit someone I’ll never know , i think someone from the road crew sorted it out but that has always stuck in my mind ,
R.I.P Wayne what a Insperation coming from Lincoln Park Michigan my home state.
Downriver Rats
Memories of my older Brother kicking out the Jam's every morning before school !
WAYNE , IT IS TIME TO TESTIFY, ARE YOU GOING TO BE THE PROBLEM OR ARE YOU GOING TO BE THE SOLUTION, IT IS TIME TO TESTIFY BROTHERS, WAYNE YOU ARE THE SOLUTION MAN, WE WENT TO THE SAME HIGH SCHOOL, LINCOLN PARK HIGH SCHOOL, YOU GUYS MADE ME WHAT I AM TODAY, ROCK ON BROTHER, COUSIN FIGEL
Bless you Brother Wayne for keeping it REAL..!! KOTJMF....!!!!
It's must be very unique feeling, when you sit next to living legend and see him playing something that started the unstoppable wave of every underground music styles, next to The Stooges i VU. And you know that the way he's playing this it's one and only correct!
When the man that wrote it.. and played it shows you how it's done.. You need to listen up and learn. Thank you Wayne. 👍
I've always wanted to see Wayne Kramer and Jacob Collier teaching how to play "Kick Out the Jams" on guitar.
MC5 rockin’ on! Love it!
I have seen the MC-5 play that song in person back in 1968 and 1969. Their guitar parts were always maximum volume through huge Marshall Amps and a whole lot of distortion. Distortion is used by many rock groups on the guitar parts, both back then and now. Now that I am older I prefer guitars with less distortion and a clearer sound. Back then the MC-5 were pure high energy to the max and without any restraint. They were the founders of punk rock before we even knew what that meant.
Brother Wayne is the real deal. I love tht guy.
Rest in peace Wayne. Sorry for your loss William 🙏
I had the immense honor to have seen Wayne in ATL and Athens, GA as well as the MC50 at the Variety Playhouse several years ago. Wayne was so kind and gracious to the fans at the MC50 meet and great. They were all three incredible shows.
So nice to see Wayne coming on to do this demo . Thank you Wayne. It's really good that you mentioned for accuracy you need to detune the guitars.
This is just...awesome, thanks Prof. Wayne!!
This is excellent. Thanks, Brother Wayne! Can we get one of these for "Ramblin' Rose"?
It's on my to-do list
Will never forget when I first heard the live album. Amazing to this day. A true live sounding album.
Monumental song. Thanks for posting this.
Thank you brother Wayne! My punk cover band 77 RPM is working on this and was finding all the wrong ones. Thanks for setting us straight.
We need this NOW!
WK is a LEGEND! Respect
This is almost too insanely cool to exist!
Thank you!
Thanks for posting this. Being a Deetroit Boy myself this brought back some fantastic memories. Almost makes me want to blow the dust off of my old SG and crank that amp! Really enjoying all of your video posts. Thanks!
Fantastic. So great to see you demonstrate this classic. The book was excellent history and scary stuff, so glad you made it.
MC5 -- greatest live rock & roll band ever!
This made my night. Legend.Thanks.
Love this.
Mind blown!! (pop) there went the top of my skull, it exploded off my head !!! Love this so much!!
Excellent video!
I really enjoyed this.
Professor Wayne, I'm 56 and I cannot believe I've never heard of MC5. That is a sin! Digging your toons, this channel and appreciate your attitude towards the man. Things are hard enough as it is for the young generations, some aren't even aware of the roots of their disempowerment back in the 60's/70s.
Descance en paz maestro, a usted le debo todo, ahora falta usted con nosotros pero nosotros nunca lo olvidermos!!!!!
RIP TRUE LEGEND AND MOST INFLUENTIAL MUSICIANS EVER!!!
Definitely one of the top 10 rock riffs of all time..Love u brother..
This is awesome thanks so much for making this Brother Wayne!
Holy craziness, long live MC5, thank you Prof. Wayne
Thank you Wayne!
Magnificent lesson of Rock History!!!
I love that strat!
Love it!!!!!
Professor Wayne love your work with the apprentice
Greatest hard rock tune ever.
Just found your channel today, got subscribed and then boom! I can assure you that the neighborhood will hear my guitar today. Thank you very much for taking the time, Wayne. Regards from Peru
Wayne, I so want to dance with you and to this song!!! Nothing I mean nothing defines the feeling better than these vibby sounds of joy of eternal music...I just want to live in the music notes...Wow just legends of focus clarity passion. I appreciate your music in my life. Sounds as good now as ever. Wow!!
Right on, Brother Wayne! Cheers, from one Detroit axe slinger to another... thanks for being a HUGE inspiration, my dude!
Yes!
I listened to MC5 quite a bit back in 2008, but at the time I wasn't really quite feeling it for some weird dumb reason. Now fast forward to 2019 and at age 38, I have a newfound appreciation for this magnificent band.
Thank you very much for taking the time “Professor”.
I’m someone who was fortunate enough to attend the concerts of all the greats, back in the day.
So now and then someone will ask me “what was the greatest show”?
The first one that always comes to mind is one which I saw at the old Boston Garden.
A triple bill with your MC5-Johnny Winter-Led Zeppelin.
Man oh man, talk about kickin’ out the jams!
Thank you for that unforgettable moment in time.
For this old geezer, who was a teenager at the time ,could there be anything cooler, than listening to your band while the police are breaking up a rival motorcycle gang fight, on the floor in front of you?
Those were different times.
Congratulations, on being one of the survivors. And thank you to the powers above, who granted us a reprieve.
Keep rocking and breathing.
My favorite guitarist.
fantastic !!
Way cool! Detroit dirty with Brother Wayne!
Thanks Wayne. Good job William!
Well, thank you, Brother Wayne! Not only I can lean this epic song for myself, but also impress my brother-in-law who attended an MC5 concert in Ann Arbor! I'm still an "advanced beginner/lower intermediate" but I'll work hard!
thank you for the all the jams your guitar tone is magic!
Gotta love that vintage 60 cycle hum.
Professor Wayne! 👏👏👏👏👏
I live for that part Wayne breaks into at 2:53 - 2:54. That's Wayne. RIP Brother Wayne Kramer.
Excellent-can't go wrong with the MC5.
Thank you Brother Wayne
Thank you so much!!
I wish more guitar heroes would get on youtube like this and show the world how to correctly play their tunes!!
So much to learn
Wayne is an ALL STAR!!!! So much fun to watch live!!
Love you Wayne keep up the great work and great content 😋
We ♥️ you Wayne Kramer!
Wayne, thanks for posting. More guitarists should show up on RUclips and show us how it's done! (I always had it correct anyway ha!) William, you are one of the luckiest guys alive. Awesome job.
Please don't make fun of me here, I have only heard of MC5, I thought since they were from Detroit, they were a Motown thing, boy was I wrong!!!!
Ramblin Rose I found watching U Tube looking for some guitar music. I saw the live performance from July 1970 and it blew me away! It got my blood pumping right on the spot, rock and roll!
qué grande !! Idolo !! cheers from South America Bolivia !!
Thanks brother wayne kramer it took me forever to find the right way to play kick out the jams
Thanks so much for that!! Wayne you rule!!
Thank you Mr. Kramer! Nice video! Teach us the secrets of all MC5 songs!
Thanks Brother Wayne!
Wayne -- just watched the Tarter Field video ... and you were playing that KOTJ riff at the 7th position too ... so there must have been some freedom from that Phil Spector 'wall of sound' thing you and Fred may have done at times ... Truth be told, I was like 15, and was at that Tarter Field gig ... hottest thing I'd ever seen. I bought the first MC5 album at 'The Other Place' in Old Redford, MI (headshop, clothes, etc.) perhaps when I was 14, with special instructions from the store owner NOT to show the album to my parents ... I did see you guys at the Grande, but after the era ... closer to the end, but that was when I had the transportation and ID to be there. Best wishes for the inspiration you've been to me.
What awesome mayhem thankyou from one Wayne to another and your young friend thanks guys
Brother Wayne! Great version of “25 Miles” in Detroit last night!!! I hope Kim Thayill plays Fred’s guitar part on KOTJ at the MC 50th shows. Such a great part, and no one who covers the song does it!
