Just heard Brother Wayne died today. Too sad. What a great man and a great musician. This show is a tribute to his generous spirit. The world is a lesser place with his passing. This band rocks and grooves.
Sad indeed.
We will ALWAYS have his testimonials! I met him twice... He was so nice and his guitar tech was some how even nicer. Brother Wayne the World won't be the same without your fight!
21st Century Schizoid man
RIP Wayne, one of the greats.
quote from the guardian.."Explaining why he was returning, Kramer said: “I think it was time to reignite that spirit of 1968, the spirit of my generation, when we were all young people. I think we’re at a very dangerous time in our history. And I think if we don’t all organise, come together, and step up, we could lose it all. Democracy could go away. The forces that we’re up against are not joking. This is not playtime. This is serious.”
I see democracy as a herald of decay, so this downfall should be (unfortunately) an irreversible process. However, it doesn't mean that we should not kick out the jams!!!
@@andjelkozlotvor decay is a sentimental rendering of cold, hard evolution. We've always had an overlay of oligarchy, tyranny, monarchy, and democracy as a dynamic of social interaction, local or as a nation. Self-determination, as noted in the video, is the ultimate factor of what system emerges at any given time. Kicking out the jams is key.
Couldn't agree more. Democracy qnd liberty are being attacked from all sides. Don't be fooled brothers!
Fugazi's drummer is a monster
They all are
Brendan Canty fucking rules! His and Joe Lallys rhythm foundation for Fugazi is unmatched!!!
Check out The Messthetics his newest band.
Brother Wayne never got a Grammy but is more important than 99% of the artists who did...RIP Wayne, long live rock and roll, true artistry and long live the MC5
I would have to agree
grammys dont mean anything...
😅are you kidding? they don't give Grammys to guys like Wayne or any band he would ever be in. 😂
Rest in Peace Mr. Wayne Kramer, you'll always be a true legend of Rock'n'roll. Your music will not be forgotten
KEXP sound engineer should be given a saint hood! Again! Always top notch....
If you're gonna play MC5 music you gotta empty the tank on EVERY song, no holding back, no pissyfootin, you gotta BRING IT! If you're not sweatin at the end, you didnt play it right!
👊🏻
You totally right
RIP Wayne… I wish more people gave Detroit and the outlying suburbs the recognition they deserve for what they and other bands did for punk rock. They laid the asphalt that most musicians walk on today😢
Thank you Detroit for MC5 and the Stooges❤❤❤
Michigan is one of the homes of punk rock for sure. The dogs,mc5,the stooges, the punks etc..

❤🎉🎉❤😮
Saw the MC5 many times at the Grande Ballroom and other venues. They blew every other band off the stage.
SO. FUCKING. LUCKY!
Im usually not for replacement members of great bands, but im really, really blown away. This is spectacular.
Now that’s what I call a supergroup!
After listening to the mostly blah stuff from the Grammy's last night, had to refresh my Inner Jukebox. Thank you. This washes video washes away all the tripe from last night.
Amen....real rock and roll
Who is the junky girl? Or either she is is vegetarian? Nevermind, I don't care.
Rest in peace, brother Wayne.
I consider myself lucky as I got to see him performing with MC50 in Budapest @a38 ~5 yrs ago, it was a truly inforgettable night (especially because their drummer was Brendan Canty from another all-time fav band of mine, Fugazi... But obviously in the end it was a celebration of MC5, I never thought that I would be able to see any of them).
...and of course we owe another big thanks to KEXP for doing & sharing this absolutely awesome video with MC50, what a remarkable line-up. We fckn love you guys :)
Girlfriend says 'turn it down, its 2am'.
'It's Wayne Kramer, love, get over it'
LoL! Awesome! My old lady said turn it down to! Decided no ! LoL
Boyfriend said "turn it down Sue Ive gotta work in the morning" I said "What, I cant hear you"
This lineup is ridiculous! I love all of these players and all of their corresponding bands respectively!
pretty epic
But Dennis "Machine Gun" Thompson is still alive!
Going to be really good for Kim Thayil! Good for his spirit and healing to be out on the road again
I agree MC5 without the original lineup not a patch on the past. ...
Too bad Wayne could not keep this lineup intact. The new 2024 album to come has none of these players. He should kept that singerwho sounds better than the new guy from what I've heard from live clips.
Later that night at Seattle's Showbox Theater Mark Arm (Mudhoney, Green River, Bloodloss, Mr Epp, Thrown Ups, etc) guest sang "FUTURE/NOW" and Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, Wellwater Conspiracy, Pearl Jam, Skin Yard, etc) doubled up on drums the whole night. Yes, half of Soundgarden played (and Ben Shephard was in the audience). What an insane show from the front row! *fists in the air*
No, he's a friend in Fremont who sells used cars, you know.
@@JL-mu9sl he runs the Taco Bus down in Hampton
R.I.P Wayne Kramer may your music and voice for the people ❤
This is just so heavy and cool. So happy for Wayne. He is an inspiration..............Kim's guitar sound and Wayne's wow!
Great performance! Except for that chick she was horrible 👎🏻😾
@25:07 There is an ancient saying on Vulcan: "Only Kim Thayil can cuss on KEXP radio."
R.I.P. Brother Wayne, You were a kind Man, Cousin Figel
to quote an old western in regards to Brother wayne; there goes a man. that every boy hopes to grow up to be. and every old man. wish he had been. a nstional treasure. one of the last amszing giant. from a time when giants roam the earth. for the pleasure of the creator.
Holy shit, what a line up!
Fascinating to watch this as a Fugazi and MC5 fan. I always knew the former influenced the latter but Brendan's playing here shows the musical link between those essential bands
Marcus and his band Zen Guerrilla are amazing! What a lineup.
And that is ladies and gentleman how rock n roll is played!
Shame they didn't have MGT on drums? Still awesome..
Its great to see Wayne has retained his moral convictions all these years.
What a loss his passing is.
Brother Wayne😭😭😭
WAYNE KRAMER!!!!!!!!! WHAT A DUDE:):):)
Great rock n roll is the fountain of youth. Can see it right there.
Wayne Kramer. Smart guy. Always a smart guy. To paraphrase the words of Jim Carroll "here's to you my brother!
Just Steve glad he's not a person who died
Abuelitos rockeros dando catedral de música, eso es romper madres! Puro leyenda underground.
@crooked rain así es me tocó verlos en San Francisco el verano pasado
huge props to the studios. presentation..stereo imaging. EQ capturing lightening in a bottle...like a Molotov cocktail
KICK OUT THE JAMS BROTHER WAYNE KRAMER, REST IN PEACE
MC5 was and still it is a geat band!!!!!!!
Way late to the party on this one and glad it is still here to get some sonic atomic sunburn. Gonna be hard to get to sleep and now I don’t even care. What a slayer.
Same here always late to the party and when it came to Portland
Didn't even know until day before
Absolutely FANTASTIC.. Play this LOUD !!
I'll be Damned,. Ain't done with the future now,. Gotta step back to hear. The real stuff... "No bullshit jam.". Jeeeeezuskrist,. This gotta be shared. Ann delici,. Thanks
Holy frickin' crap! Wayne Kramer = 70, the other dudes must be 50 or so. This is the reason I listen to rock music. Passionate people plastering me to the wall. I can only imagine what a 90 minute show with an audience would do. I, for one, would be dead. No way in hell would the smile come off my face either. Rap can kiss my nethers. This is still the future.
dikbozo thank you!! Rap and hip hop should be canned and blasted into the sun
with all due respect, one can compliment a band and prefer a genre without putting down another. Also, is rap diametrically opposed to rock? This is like saying chocolate ice cream is better than vanilla. Each genre has its talented artists. Much love.
@@RobertoGaspar69 every genre has its good and bad. I don't like most of the rap that l hear being pushed on me by marketing forces. On the other hand I'm very passionate about "underground" hiphop. I also love jazz particularly from the late 40s bebop era into the hard bop 50s and late 60s-70s fusion. Love blues, hard funk, roots reggae, old school new york salsa, acid rock. Sometimes you just have to hear it in the right place at the right time for it to click and then you separate the wheat from the chaff. Sorry for rambling.
antitribaliste actually you are very right! I super agree with you. The best thing of nowadays technology is that make us able to dig vast sources of content and information at the top of our fingers, we just need to dig more deeper and deeper. So we don’t depend or rely on Fm stream music anymore, so its easier than never to find real gold from the garbage they push on the mainstream media and so on. Nothing wrong with hip-hop or jazz...as long you find that silverware piece of gem, thank you for your kindly reply!
F'ck rap and now electronic diarrhea. Insane watching people raving about a game soundtrack or background to some video when it is just repetitive electronic garbage. In the future idiots will rave about one note held for an hour straight. "Yo dat slaps!".
I was fueling up at a 7-Eleven yesterday, and I had jokers to the left of me, jokers to the right. One with Elton John cranked up, the other with hip-hop. OK, I guess three could play, and all four windows went down as I fired up "Kick Out the Jams" at volume eleven. I won.
BTW, when Hollywood inevitably remakes "The Princess Bride," they need to call on Marcus.
Spare me. Rock bands were the legal and illegal drug pushers best advertisers. How many bands have a no drug use policy at their concerts? How many put drug abuse warning labels on their albums?
Wow, people from all my favorite bands! Billy Gould! It’s funny Kramer is 70 years old and he looks younger than everyone else lol
Wow. That was an unexpected find.
Real musicians!
10x God for thoese guys still have the light of music!!!
It is always amazing to see live bands who are this TIGHT !! This is a fabulous performance by a most talented group, to say the least !! GREAT STUFF !!!!
Damn wish Fred Sonic Smith was sitting in.
Fred probably does too😀
That was fucking amazing! Holy shit, I need a Tylenol now.
Ladies & Gentlemen....that's Rock n Roll !
Just had Wayne Kramer autograph his new book for me. Him & the MC5 are legends around here (Detroit) They were the house band @ The Grande Ballroom back in the day, couldnt touch them.
Holy shit. This lineup.... Wayne must have woke up one day and said "you know, I'm Wayne Kramer. If I just pick up the phone and call the baddest dudes on the block and say 'hey, want to play MC5 songs with me?' who the hell would say no?"
Haha
Gould is phenomenal as always
I love Bill's t-shirt!
Wayne, une énergie qui n'avait d'égale que sa gentillesse, sa générosité, un homme juste extraordinaire.
Those guys are tight.
The singer is a powerhouse
Damn glad my finger got the idea to punch in mc5 in that search box! Made my day! Ditto to all the the "holy craps! and good praising!" Sound pretty fucking great live! The Damned are like that. The energy in the sound is better raw. better than studio'd stuff. Shoot, my eyes?! I thought that was Rob being darker or?; Rama Lama had me thinking fuck " he's got an added dimension in his voice, sounds better, than ever! (Sorry Rob.) Marcus has a presence that's difficult to define??!! Mysterious or???? Makes me notice the guy very fucking good at what he does. Playing with Kramer though......................Kim................ lost for words.....Arrows got better expressions than................. shes entertaining............
*Arrow wearing that Quaalude shirt - that is one fucking fantastic shirt!* Very slick performance by Wayne and his palz...Canty is outstanding here!!
acid is Groovy and Marcus Durant on vocals Kills !! Nobody sounds like him they should play ZG songs
Rest in Peace Wayne. You gave so much pleasure through your uncompromising music. Always 200% commitment to your art.
Billy has that funky beat like Pete Agnew
Now that's some high quality rock and roll
R.I.P. Wayne, your legend will live forever, thank you for what you taught to us!
Love the vocalist vibe ! Its just the right vibe for MC5 music, and the rest of the band is pure bliss !! Not to mention brother Wayne rockin in the new century !
He has a Scott Morgan vibe
His name is Marcus and he was the lead singer of an AMAZING band from San Francisco called Zen Guerilla, look 'em up on RUclips; they are fantastic!!
yeah, zen guerilla in indeed fucking amazing
not a coincidence, Zen Guerrilla were heavily influenced by MC5
Singer looks like what Rob Tyner might've looked like if he was still with us.
I really respect Wayne Kramer
I wouldn't say I like punk but I liked this ... I just got it. Those guys are actually *doing* something on their guitars. To link that brash dandy from 50 years ago to this guy is great. It can work out.
Check out bad brains first album. Self titled. Might not be your bag, but the album is a classic to say the least. It's hardcore punk
Just saw this! This is sooooo garage it's fucking fantastic!
Great job everyone.
Long live The Motor City Five 🔥👍
Just landed here. Wow! Now this is a very super group
Glad Wayne K is still with us and still rocking.....
He died today..R.I.P.
arrow de wilde
Incredible stuff. The punk spirit never died.
holy shit. this is unreal.
E=MC50
Super duper absolutely crushing it on every instrument. The most informative, influential band of the 60-70s. They were held back by corporate America record footers because of their political brows and. I really believe the powers to be during that time period were very scared of this band. Damit they were great. No one match the engery of the original lineup. This lineup is good but oh my gosh. Their live shows were like a 2 hour orgasmic nut
WAYNE'S VOICE IS STILL KILLER
There that good that you would be mistaken if you thought they were a British band
The first time I heard Kick out the Jams was the Bad Brains and Henry Rollins version from the Pump Up the Volume sndtk
As a conservative, I say proudly, " Rest in Peace Mr Wayne Kramer".
Marcus Durant from Zen Guerrilla nails it. I was wondering what happened to him and was very happy to see that he still is a great singer.
once walked into a building at 16th and Portrero in SF when Zen Guerilla were rehearsing. It was an early-ish Saturday morning, and they were the only band in there. The damn building was shaking, I mean, the walls were shaking, they were so loud. It was crazy. He was such fun to watch live. They ruled SF for a few years, everyone loved them. Oh, yeah, once saw him in a hot rod peeling rubber at 16th and Market, too. Kind of tough to miss, with that afro!
Kramer knows how to pick great musicians.
Kim ❤️
Wayne and the drummer did the best here.
The rest of these guys are confused and slightly weak.
RIP WAYNE 🙏
MC5 sempre foi uma sonzêra!!! Clássico do rock!
OMG!!!! Brutal GOOD!!!! Thank you guys!
stay together .)
That Arrow kid knows that "sex sells".
I always loved MC5, but this MC50's line-up is so tremendous. The singer is my favourite.
Awesome! And a pleasure to see such a great line-up... Nice to see Starcrawler's singer as a guest too by the way.
Bout to check them out. She did very well.
@@grizz22604 Hope you'll like Starcrawler :) There's something close to New York Dolls in their attitude, sound, etc... Such a great band live! Don't miss'em if they'll play in your neighbourhood
I saw them in Chicago in 1970....they were Fantastic!
This Christmas my biggest wish is Sta. Claus scream RAMA LAMA FA FA FA to all the world! This is a awesome revival of MC5 with a super line up!!
Man you can feel the electricity here on this session. R.I.P. Wayne Kramer...
Please.,...Wayne...
Ramblin Rose....
Playing with Wayne would be a dream come true.
MC5 is legendary but very underrated Band. Sensationell Rock'Roll and Punk from 70ies. Thank you for this supergroup. 😎
Since the sixties
@@georgefromgreece4119 and not underrated in the slightest 🤣
The singer would be Robyn and he’s not him. + the miss of Dennis is huge. Anyway thx and rock on brutha Wayne
Arrow is a nice girl, but i think before you can talk about new generation, she is so skinny and every show can be the last? Drug abuse fucked there live and i can not see a lond period of "new generation". Before she needs help and got stable
Man this is like a Rock Mecca all components firing MC50 are still the rockers!
Another brilliant KEXP session
Holy shit, what a line up!
wow what a lie up, saw dkt/mc5 some years ago. mc5 without fred or rob tho including mark from mudhoney on vocals and nick from helicopters....awesome gig!
Dkt stand for..?
davis, Kramer, Thompson (surviving members of mc5 at the time)
@@mattjammy9884 thanks dude!
all good bud...
I had that on DVD..it was awesome..they should have just added Nicky Royale to do all the shows..he was the best and they really had the mc5 sound with him...
