3 Phase Motor Connection | Star - Delta Connection

3 Phase motor are used every where, for many different purpose. 3 phase motor meaning starting and running the motor with the help of 3 different phase line at the same time. generally it is use for heavy load or heavy work like water pump, lift, escalator etc.
But for connecting the Phase line to the 3 Phase motor is bit confusing, The main thing is there are two different ways to connect wiring is Star connection, where 3 coils are connected with each other from one side, and phase line is connected in opposite side of each coil. and the second method is to connected with Delta Connection. In a Delta Connection, every wire is connected to two adjacent wires in the form of a triangle Δ and all the three common points of the connection form the three phases. During starting the motor winding are connected in star configuration and this reduces the voltage across each winding 3. This also reduces the torque by a factor of three.
