    Opie’s ridiculous “bit” about Dr. Drew is all because he felt slighted by Adam and Drew when he visited LoveLine and they didn’t bow down to Opie and suck him off as a radio hero. Opie can’t admit that he hates Drew because of a silly misunderstanding, so he uses his “track record” as an addiction specialist. You can’t be responsible for addicts being addicts, of course most of your patients will die, Drew used to tell the patients that statistically half of them would die if they didn’t follow treatment to a “T” then the spoiled Hollywood addicts of course fall off the wagon and die. Opie is insane on this idea. Even Ant compared being a surgeon to Drew which is ridiculous, a surgeon’s patients aren’t all self harming addicts!

    • @_..-.._..-.._
      @_..-.._..-.._ Год назад

      @@tapsetyou stop friend. Bringing addiction treatment to the mainstream is not a bad thing. The show had an exposing side to it, but the good outweighed the bad and made people less afraid to admit addictions. Dr Drew does love the spotlight, but it’s never been used for bad purposes. Drew isn’t live streaming from a beach to 12 people trying to hold onto the small fame. Drew has helped thousands if not millions of people from his loveline days, he prevented many suicides by directing callers in distress to the proper care. Having a medical professional in the public spotlight shouldn’t be a bad thing with so many loser celebs promoting the worst way of living these days, it’s refreshing to have a smart educated person get a spotlight when there are so many bad takes out there and misinformation. I don’t agree with Drew on a lot, but the point is that Opie’s “bit” came from a bruised ego and jealousy. You simply can’t call dead patients a “bad track record” when your patients are all rich entitled addicts that have a lot of baggage and the ease of which they can get drugs. Call Drew a carny all you want, but I’ll take a Drew or Dr Steve anyday over an Opie or Kardashian or Paul bros.

    • @_..-.._..-.._
      @_..-.._..-.._ Год назад

      @@jaybyday2381you kinda missed my point, Opie was saying that a surgeon could have a success rate of 95% where 5 surgeries out of 100 might result in death, but the timeline is small, if they survive the surgery for a month, it’s counted as a win. But for Drew, it’s not a win unless the addict dies naturally of old age? How is that a fair comparison? I actually dislike Ant just as much as Opie as a 20 year listener, but this is one the worst takes he’s ever had.

The bodybuilder/actor who played Darth Vader (David Prowse) was brought in to be Reeves' trainer and he helped him bulk up to fill out the role with a proper superhero physique. You could have made a funny bit off that, but there was no bit. No joke. He just whines for 5 minutes about, then whines some more when callers bring it up later. "I understand it's not practical. I'm just saying I miss having something to look at, ya know? *WHINE*"
      Patrice would have spun that into a joke. "Bitch, you should be wearing a pack of dental floss when you're at the gym. If you're not some delicious object getting her ass flossed on the treadmaseter, WHAT ARE YOU? WHAT IS YOUR VALUE?"

      I know! Opie was like "why isn't anyone else talking about this? It's like a surgeon killing all his patients"
      Nobody is talking about it because it's not a big deal, it's an average "success rate" when your patient base are fckd up people before you even meet them.. He acts like Drew can control these people. If a surgeon did a successful surgery and then the patient ripped open their stitches and died, Opie would blame the surgeon. What a reeeetaaaard!

    • @_..-.._..-.._
      @_..-.._..-.._ 2 года назад +2

      Absolutely!!! You are gonna lose most of your patients, when ALL of your patients are rich addicts!!! Patrice at least had the bus driver analogy, Drew can’t babysit these adults forever!

    • @_..-.._..-.._
      @_..-.._..-.._ Год назад +2

      I said elsewhere that Opie says a surgeon would be jailed if they had the “failure rate” of an addiction specialist, but of course. A surgeon only has to have the patient last a month or so for the surgery to be called a success, but Drew’s patients somehow have to die naturally of old age before Opie calls him a success. Addiction docs always have and will lose MOST of their patients to addiction, but without them, it could be 80%. It’s a losing battle where you do the most good you can do and then the patient has to take responsibility. Drew NEVER said a person was “cured” of their addiction, he’s one of the people like me that consider addiction a lifetime thing, once you know you possess the addiction genes, it’s a lifelong battle to stay clean.

      I love Patrice, but he would have made a terrible writer and filmmaker.
      He had brilliant off the cuff moments and could craft a killer stand up routine, but couldn't sit down to write down and edit his thoughts. A book by him would have killed, but he kept stalling on; probably because he can't type. He would have needed a ghostwriter or editor to get that done.
      As far as filmmaking goes, there was an episode where him and O&A were going on about directors stifle comedians by making them wait for shots to be set up or doing multiple takes. There is a very good reason directors do that because otherwise it looks like shit and only doing one take means you're fucked with costly reshoots if it turns out you didn't get the shot right. Someone who can't understand the concept of multiple takes "because it interrupts the flow" would never have made a good filmmaker.

      Because it's Ant, I'm almost positive he was referencing the 60s film Requiem For A Heavyweight (written by Rod Sterling!) It was a boxing drama about a washed up fighter. It starred Anthony Quinn, Jackie Gleason and Mickey Rooney. It had a big influence on Scorsese and inspired him to make Raging Bull.
