Any specific interest, or just tracking our dwindling number of 747's? I thought I'd post a not-so-final video of general business of a 747 and a view not too often seen. I'm privileged in that way.
The problem is the 777s would not let qantas service some of their very long distance routes non stop such as Santiago Chile - Sydney or Sydney-Johannesburg.
The 777-9 will be able to Sydney - Johannesburg is 11052km's the 777-9 range distance is 14075km's with ( 400-425 passengers ) Sydney to Santiago , Chile is 11359km;s from Sydney and the 777-9 range is 14,075km's It has more range the the 300ER.
The ETOPS rating on the older 777s wouldnt have allowed that to proceed. There may be changes in the future with newer models but that wasnt the case before, hence some of the decisions made.

What's the start sequence please of the 747 for Qantas?
Is the startup sequence 4, 3, 1, 2?
Generally the engines are started 4 then 3, then 1and 2 simultaneously.
I think it is time for Qantas to get the 777-300ER and 787-8 and 9 + A350-900 and 1000.
Jo Tyers All the smart airlines got in years ago, and QANTAS got the A380. Too many aircraft types. Too complicated. 777X would be the way to go.
