3:40 - THIS right there is the whole game. That's where this pedal really shines (IMO) and you nailed it. I wonder what you think of the MIMIQ Mini, considering it has only one input and output. Great video!
I have this pwdal and its killer pedal.Saves me so much time, sound terrific, best doubler I have ever heard and it makes your sound really thick and just better.
David Walliman: Thank you for the review on the TC Electronic Mimiq Doubler Pedal. The demonstration sound quality through the left/right sound system was very good.
I’ve got it into two Marshall 100-watt amps & cabs, running in stereo I’ve had forever. Sounds great clean as well. In mode 3 tightness fully relaxed, giving a 12 string-ish effect. Always Needs to run in stereo or it sort of phase-cancels. Nice review 👍
def use it for stereo with 2 amps. TC told me to place it first in chain or close to it or place it in fx loop first in chain. they said it needs a good clear clean signal. Thanks for the demo
Hi David, I've recently got this pedal and also a hotone ampero 2 stomp The stomp has two inputs and allows you to run two alp chains. Assuming I could setup a similar chain (two amps) like you did with the axefx? Ive seen in the manual that the mimiq can also be run in the effects loop..
Hi bro, thanks for video, I've a question, it's possible use that pedal with headphones, and contain the effect doubler? Or the functions work with two amplifiers? Regards!
I like this pedal, might have to pick it up. Great review Wallimann! I have the TC flashback and the polytune 2 pedals and like TC products for the money!
so this goes at the end of the signal chain right before the amps input? (Guitar > Doubler > 2 amp inputs) rather than coming out of both amps mono outputs into this > poweramp? So guitar > amp 1 and amp 2 via splitter > out both into Doubler Stereo inputs > stereo outputs > poweramp > cab?
This is probably the best solution. Once connected to the different inputs of your Audio Interface, split the channels in your DAW, and pan them R and L.
thanks for the review David :) I got one simple question, how does it sound AFTER low gain overdrive? (I gotta use that way due to pedalboard spacing problems :P)
odd question, if you plug a stereo effect in and only use the mono out. dose it sum the stereo signal? or dose it give you the left out only? or something else altogether?
Great demo David! I would be curious to know how it works with acoustic guitar (with pick-up system à la Fishman). It would be really time-saving if you could record one acoustic rhythm guitar that sound like two...or three... :-)
Hey David, I just got one of these myself. I tried it through two analog amps and it sounded great, but live I just want to use my Axe Fx II. I'm running the pedal stereo into the rear Input 1 (L & R), I've set 2 lines in the patch each with it's own Amp and Cab but when I engage the pedal it's still coming out in mono and the vibrato sounds all distorted. How are you getting the amps to pan left and right?
Fun story about this pedal My roommate was sleeping and I decided to wake him up by playing the fear of the dark riff at 4 in the morning. Also waking up everyone in the adjacent rooms and across the hall
Hi David. I always love your rrevviews and playing. I also do not get this pedal. I would have to play I guess. It seems like i could do it all with my AX8/Helix or a good delay in my live (with rest of the setup). I guess it might save time iin a studio but how much is debatable as you can adjust or add to the doubling in your software. I read your precision factor comment though. This could very well be one of those pedals that hook you once you try it.
Buy the stereo. I can’t stress it enough how cool it is. I could burn all my very sought after pedals and not care as much as if I forgot to power up my stereo mimiq. It is mind blowing fun.
Thank YOU for a clean video... these wannabe rockstar distortion overdrive reviewers are a pain in the first 5 minits of my.... ***!!!! ooops this is NOT referring to your review AT ALL!!
HI David (great video)...hi everybody that use a pedalboard, an effect chain OK...... I read that TC TOLD "mimiq needs a clear signal...SO put it first in chain or first in the effect loop" But hey, listen at this: - if I put it LAST in chain in my pedalbord, then I can go stereo to my TWO tube amps (using ALL my pedals of course) - While, if I put it first in chain in the pedalboard, how can I go stereo through all my pedals, then to my amps? You mean that, to put it first in chain, you need ALL the pedals to be stereo? That's not possible. So TC makes a pedal that works better with the TWO stereo ouputs going to TWO amps......it really seem that the mimiq doubler was born FOR THAT......but then they say "PUT IT FIRST IN CHAIN". What the fuck ???? Second: they say "or...put it first in the fx loop"........in what fx loop, of ONE the TWO amps???? But then, how to go stereo to TWO amps for getting the best STEREO effect / panning, or stuff like that?? It does not make sense. So, definitely.......If I put it LAST in chain, I got ALL the effects going through BOTH amps....and, most important thing, I can use mimiq into BOTH amps (or both amps' line out, to go to soundcard or multitrack to PAN ONE TO THE LEFT, ONE TO THE RIGHT. If I put it FIRST IN CHAIN, how the hell am I going to use my pedalbord??? One out through the pedalboard AND the other one DIRECT to the second amp??? But if I do so, one of the two guitars would have NO effect.....and the result should be good? THAT'S just bullshit. So I really don't understand what the fuck they are talking about when they say "put it first in chain or first in the fx loop"....like someone quoted too here in the comments. Cheers
It should be after dirt and before time-based effects like delays and reverbs BUT yes, those time-based effects must be stereo. I watched an episode of That Pedal Show with Tor from TC and it was last in the chain.
No offense, but I'm not interested in what are considered 'creative' or 'artistic' applications of an effect; that's an individual decision. I want to hear the effect demonstrated, and how well it does it. I want a doubler for my lead work, to make my lines sound fatter, fuller. On chords/rhythm, it sounds good, but setting a chorus to that near-doubling chime setting is more ambient. Maybe because I'm listening to this on my iPhone, but I'm not hearing what I thought I would. I'll have to wait until I hear it on the home PC, and if it's the same, I'll get an EH Small Clone.
Phoenix7 chorus is vibrato with the clean signal still audible (small clone). It can help to thicken the sound however it will definitely color your tone to something beyond just “thicker” (which may or may not be desirable in all situations). As far as doublers, there’s this pedal (Mimiq), there’s the Keeley 30ms, and there’s the strymon deco. For thickening solos in particular, you may also find the Xotic EP booster pedal helpful as well. It’s a boost pedal based on the old echoplex’s preamp section and adds a richness to solos (beyond just volume boost) but without going overboard. But out of all doublers I’d go with this one, the others are good as well but this one is the most straight forward
A delay,or very tight chorus? For real? Not much in enhancing tone or sound. Just another pedal in the chain. Sounds more like a exciter pedal for ambiance. I wouldn’t waist my time or money.....TC or competitors!
3:40 - THIS right there is the whole game. That's where this pedal really shines (IMO) and you nailed it. I wonder what you think of the MIMIQ Mini, considering it has only one input and output. Great video!
This pedal is a godsend for every guitarist in a one guitar band :D
Looks great. Wouldn't mind testing this out on vocals, running the dry and stereo pair through separate tube preamps.
How was it? You tried?
I have this pwdal and its killer pedal.Saves me so much time, sound terrific, best doubler I have ever heard and it makes your sound really thick and just better.
Great video. Just got one. Was checking out videos and was glad to see you covered it. You did a great job here. Very thorough. Thank you.
Thanks brother!
Best video I've seen showing how this pedal works and sounds. Thanks.

I got this pedal last Christmas and I haven't stopped using it, it's brilliant. I love TC pedals. 🤘🎸
def use it for stereo with 2 amps. TC told me to place it first in chain or close to it or place it in fx loop first in chain. they said it needs a good clear clean signal. Thanks for the demo
Dang it, if I buy this I'm going to need 2 amps and 2 pedal boards!
I have one of these and this demo has been very helpful! Thank you so much!
First time and subscribe right away ! Love the pace and explanation and the tone of your vid! very good !
Can't wait to get one of these. Thanks for the review.
Great review. I was thinking of buying this for live work, but hadn't even considered the use at home recording. Good job!
This was really great. Thanks for the very detailed review. Got me really interested in it.
I’m a single guitarist in a band and I use this live to thicken up my tone. I get a lot of compliments but rarely do I give away my secret.
totally agree stereo L and R that's the best way to get the most out of it. fat and thick BIG guitar mix
Great Video man! Thank you!
good review. i have 2 questions: how does it sound with a clean or semi-clean sound? and do you still get the effect with a mono rig?
you won't get the double track effect with just 1 amp in a mono setup
GREAT demo - thank you very much !
Hi David, I've recently got this pedal and also a hotone ampero 2 stomp
The stomp has two inputs and allows you to run two alp chains. Assuming I could setup a similar chain (two amps) like you did with the axefx?
Ive seen in the manual that the mimiq can also be run in the effects loop..
Can you show how you set up the Axe Fx with the Mimiq?
3:08 how do you connect to the axe fx? it only has one input?
It has additional line ins in the back. :)
Play "Highway Star"!
it has that 80’s chorus vibes😍
Thanks for the video; very informative!
Crushed it man thank you
Sick!!!!
Where would you put this in a signal chain. After the compressor and before the dirt pedals? I currently run compressor-tube screamer-fuzz-delay.
clear n precise vid.. muchas gracias
How can I use this pedal live ? Guitar into the pedal and the axe fx with xlr out left/right to the PA?
I've a question: where would the best placement for it be on my pedalboard chain??
I have been wondering what if you put two Mimiqs together with two jumpers into two amps. Like playing bridge? Double and redouble.
great demo
Great review
so this goes at the end of the signal chain right before the amps input? (Guitar > Doubler > 2 amp inputs)
rather than coming out of both amps mono outputs into this > poweramp?
So guitar > amp 1 and amp 2 via splitter > out both into Doubler Stereo inputs > stereo outputs > poweramp > cab?
Great Review! Only the most important infos without smalltalk. I got answers on all my questions, thanks!
I like your style even if I'm not into metal, so I've subscribed!
No mention of metal in this video WTF you talking about
Thanks David Wallimann.
i am bit confused! how i connect this to an audio interface?
guitar -> mimiq right out left out -> audio ch1 in and audio ch2 in?
This is probably the best solution. Once connected to the different inputs of your Audio Interface, split the channels in your DAW, and pan them R and L.
@@yehorsanko9241 ty i am about to buy this pedal asap
Can this be used in a live performance if I bring two separate amps to the gig?
thanks for the review David :) I got one simple question, how does it sound AFTER low gain overdrive? (I gotta use that way due to pedalboard spacing problems :P)
Fantastic!
odd question, if you plug a stereo effect in and only use the mono out. dose it sum the stereo signal? or dose it give you the left out only? or something else altogether?
Did he answer?
Great demo David! I would be curious to know how it works with acoustic guitar (with pick-up system à la Fishman). It would be really time-saving if you could record one acoustic rhythm guitar that sound like two...or three... :-)
in a stereo setup does it matter if i run dirt and other pedals before the mimic before splitting into two hi gain amps?
I have questions- will this still sound good and be noticeable w/o a stereo setup, meaning with only a single speaker amp?
Can i put the pedal after a cabinet simulator?
Hi there!
Where would you recommend this pedal on the pedalboard?
Cheers
JS
I wonder what that pedal would sound like with 1 amp but 2 cabs?
Can you use it on bass guitar?
What does the internal switches do?
Hey David, I just got one of these myself. I tried it through two analog amps and it sounded great, but live I just want to use my Axe Fx II. I'm running the pedal stereo into the rear Input 1 (L & R), I've set 2 lines in the patch each with it's own Amp and Cab but when I engage the pedal it's still coming out in mono and the vibrato sounds all distorted. How are you getting the amps to pan left and right?
Note: 2:15 Unless you’re Randy Rhoads
So is it better before or after stereo delay effect?
It's great in wet/dry with two different amp models and IRs if you are going to FOH. Ofc it's always better with amps.
Doesnt quite sound like 2 guitars, but I like the effect.
Fun story about this pedal My roommate was sleeping and I decided to wake him up by playing the fear of the dark riff at 4 in the morning. Also waking up everyone in the adjacent rooms and across the hall
I subscribed!
is this an overdrive pedal ??
Looks good at home or live
That is a gorgeous RG #Subscribed
Decent pedal...I still miss the 'salut' at the end though!
Does this goes in Send/Return or??
would this take my mono signal make it stereo? Can i go in mono and get a stereo spread on the 2 outs?
John Miller yes
Yes. It would generate a stereo effect.
Pedal demo starts at 01:40 , you are welcome.
Why you gotta flex on the axefx
To be truthful, I really cant tell wnen its on or off.........good upload.............
"There's no difference", said by people listening with their mono phone speaker 😂😂
This isn’t meant for two amp use just use an a/b pedal for that
You have no clue.
Great way to start a video David. Serve up a taster of the goodies first. :-)
Hi David. I always love your rrevviews and playing. I also do not get this pedal. I would have to play I guess. Theres a guy on here that uses it with a helix....man it sounds great clean....dirty..weird effects...etc....i gotta get 1
This pedal reminds me of Lynyrd Skynyrd's leads on the studio albums.
I was thinking about getting the mimiq mini, but it is not stereo. do you think it’s still worth it if it doesn’t have the stereo feature?
Great review btw !
Buy the stereo. I can’t stress it enough how cool it is. I could burn all my very sought after pedals and not care as much as if I forgot to power up my stereo mimiq. It is mind blowing fun.
Sounds a little like Bob Seger Her Strut.
Did anyone tell you there's some John Bonamassa quality in your speech? ;) Anyway, great review.
