    LOVE my Spector bass. I've dreamed of owning one. Every time I pick it up and play it I'm just in awe that I finally own one :)

    Just a small correction, the EMG BTS (Bass Treble System) is a 2 band EQ. The BTQ has the added mid band EQ. My late 90's Euro made Spector basses are made of fingured solid maple body wings (not chambered) and has the EMG P/J pickups on the 4 string and EMG a paired 40DC pickups on the 5 string. They both came stock with the BTS preamp and the 5 strings have a 34" scale as these do. Spector did not change to a 35" scale until late 2k due to "industry demand." Truth be told, When I tune the B down to AB, it still retains a tight and focused tone. There is no need for the 35" scale unless you intend to tune the B down to a G or perhaps even flatter, lol! Lastly, I just made the point of the EMG BTS as a correction for being a 2 band onboard EQ and not a 3 band. Honestly, unless A- you have no mid range frequency adjustment in your signal chain or B- there is a constant need to adjust the mid frequency on the fly when playing live, a 3 band onboard bass pre is not necessary!

    The Tone Pump is definitely cool, I've enjoyed a few, but the EMG systems (partial to the BQC myself) coupled with their pickups, sound so great, and give you such a wide range of tonal possibilities, they are wise to add this back into their range. Fodera uses a lot of EMG bass stuff for a reason, and those basses are 10k to 15k easy.

    “Solid maple wings that are chambered for weight relief”

      The body is partially chambered, he probably meant to say, as most of it remains solid maple.

      Hi,
      could you tell me whats the string spacing if anyone knows? And how's the balance? Is there any neck dive? I am seriously considering buying one. I totally love the look and sound. I am worry about the neck dive with this one ?

    • @bassist718

      @@xx2 What up brother, I eventually got rid of the bass as I found myself leaning more toward natural wood finishes rather than the High Gloss I had purchased, so I switched to Warwick. There was no neck dive at all and the sound was fantastic. I never had a chance to make a video of it. Here is the spacing... Scale Length Nut Width At 12th Fret At Bridge Fingerboard Radius
      4 String 34” 1.645” 2.065” .75” 16”
      5 String 35” 1.84” 2.415” .66” 16”

    Not much of a throwback if you do practically everything different.. weight relief, EMG preamp and the new gotoh tuners that look nothing like the schallers.
    I wanted to love the idea but it doesn't work for me.

    • @codyhansonbass
      @codyhansonbass 4 года назад +1

      Right, they totally missed the mark. Make them solid maple with no clambering or whatever, and put a god damn HAZ preamp in them! Why do they avoid making it authentic.

    • @pecavallo
      @pecavallo 4 года назад +1

      @@codyhansonbass Exactly. It would make a great mass production NS-2 for the "classic" Spector fans.. but with the specs they chose it is just off.

      The original Euro (made in the Czech Republic) featured the EMG BTS preamp or the Korean HAZ clone. So from that perspective, it is a throw back

    • @lf170
      @lf170 4 года назад +12

      American Fenders are nowhere as well made as the Euro Spectors. Quality on the Euros is much higher; nicer woods/materials and workmanship. Of course, if you want the classic Fender J or P sound and feel, sure. That's not what you're getting with Spector. Different body shapes, neck feel, active vs. passive electronics, etc.

      @@russelblacker2562 Totally understand if you didn't like the sound. They're not for everyone and Fender/Music Man have their own great thing going for them. Or if you didn't like the ergonomics (some don't like the smaller, fully curved bodies and of course neck size is always individual taste). But what was wrong with the quality? The Euros I own are extremely well made with very high quality woods/materials. I've played a few Fenders (US) , Ibanez (SRs) and Yamahas (BBs), and they were solidly made but the Euros were on another level. The Yamahas were probably closest.

    Ordered a Spector Euro 4. Had to send it back. Major disappointment. Beautiful bass with an incredibly FAT and WIDE neck! I have longer fingers than most and found it unnecessarily FAT! What are they thinking??? I have two German Warwick Streamers and a Musicman Stingray with a Status Graphite “Jazz” profile neck. The Spector neck is like a tree trunk compared to all three. Whatever happened to fast necks Spector?
