    I've been a hairdresser for just under 50 years. The process is the same (without that brush application). We used an on scalp lighter not the powder used today and an applicator bottle (bleach bottle) to apply the lightner to the regrowth. YES, we had toners way back then (clairol, Roux, Wella and etc.). The shades are about the same in 2024 as they were in the 60's and 70's. We had beautiful results without breakage. Alos, the companies provided "formula's" to achieve different shades, I refer to them often.

    The process of bleaching and toning hair really hasn't changed much in the past 50+ years....

      @@oliverwortley3822 Really? It seems the same to me the hair is bleached and then a purple based toner is applied to cancel out the brassiness. This is pretty much how you would do it today unless you're doing foil highlights or balayage.

      @@rosechardonnay5351I agree with you. But now i'm trying to understand this myth about how we didn't have toner in the nineties and early 2000s. So many people say that!

    Ouch, imagine how that “Exotic Platinum” toner application brushing the roots after your scalp is sensitive felt like, burning hell hahahahaha

      That toner brush is used very roughly

    My aunt had beautiful platinum hair in 1968, but she couldn't remember what she used....diy...she did actually iron it on an ironing board. Eek. But it was gorgeous, thick and white and straight.

    Man, what a rough & sloppy treatment. I remember the "beauty parlor" my mom used to take us to back in the 70s to get our haircuts had women smoking in there and I was always fascinated by the smells & sights of that particular place. My hair always looked the same when we'd leave. I'm not sure what you would call that atrocious cut I'd have. It was like a shag, but with bangs, then when I got older, I had a mullet. Sigh.....I actually miss those times, not the mullet, though....

    I can only imagine how much harder it would be to maintain that color back then with no deep conditioner protein treatments and bond multipliers

      I think they used egg masks, hot oil and cream "rinses" and a whole lotta WET SETS

    • @Kubulek17
      @Kubulek17 6 лет назад +11

      Thinks about it. They might have not had all those things but they cut their hair shorter, didn’t wash it longer and the highest heat the used was a hooded drier .

    • @rosechardonnay5351
      @rosechardonnay5351 5 лет назад +9

      They had plenty of conditioning treatments back then too plus many women only washed their hair once a week so they had lots of natural oil protecting the hair. Funny how the hair bleaching process hasn't really changed in over 50 years.
