On the last example, I have the habit to make the rectangle, click the surface to copy, undo twice to delete all lines and then copy in paste. Quick. But, yes, this grouping method comes in handy allot and a go to method for years. Good share.

Great skill builder Aaron! I found myself doing multiple deletes only this morning drawing vent holes for a solid bed base! If only I'd watched this sooner!! :)

It's good to hear the terminology surrounding the various functionality of sketchup tools. Helps to work in sketchup with a dialogue or monologue that is founded in the program.

These are very helpful. I'm trying to retrain myself from a Solidworks background. (from 2003). I think I have finally forgotten enough of it to be able to learn new tricks. Had stumbled into some of this on my own, but your expalnations and examples really help make it stick. Thanks!

Great tip thanks. You can also use temporary groups to rotate multiple objects about their centre.

I use the same method, but wish somebody showed me this before I figured it out. Thanks for one more killer tip.

Excellent presentation. Over the past week I've had a few situations where I needed this. Thank you.

Aaron also you can put guide lines by double clicking on the lines and at the last part just copy and paste in place in side the group rather than deleting lines.

This is why I have such a hard time using AutoCAD, solidworks and fusion360. Everytime I hit a stumbling block I always revert back to sketchup. Thanks for the info

Hello Aaron, thanks for the video, 5:49 if instead of drag the guide you double-click on a line, the guide is generated more quickly than dragging it

Use dedicated shortcuts for explode and make group with this and your modeling skills will be increased so much that I cant even remember how I was doing before that

I'd like to see methods to optimize sketchup models that get so big that they crash the program. Sketchup really doesn't like it when I design space planes and satellites

I've had a similar problem. I've tried to model the solar system and well... yeah.

Had a quick look on Facebook for Boxx's page but couldn't find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

      I think it's this guy:
      ruclips.net/user/boxxtechsearch?query=SketchUp
but I'm not sure. I don't see an FB link. Only a regular website.

Awesome, Thank You For Sharing. Especially Second tip 3:12 is great! ps.: Now I have trouble with the camera view right now (zoom in and my part of the object is missing:/ )

The lower your filed of view is, the more you can zoom in to an object without it disappearing. Hope that helps!

Yes. I set my field of view to 25° to avoid this problem and to give a more realistic perspective. Set this as your template. Also keep your model around the origin.
