Thank you so much for committing to making virtual retreats a regular thing. I’m housebound due to chronic ill health, so virtual events are the only opportunity I have to connect with other stitchers and meet new people. This years Jingle Ball will be my first, and I can’t wait! 😊
I am so excited about 5 Virtual Events next year! Thank you so much for doing them!! My favorite costume I have ever done was as an adult I went to a church party as a pregnant Nun! I was actually pregnant. 😁 I so enjoy your light, joyful, & fun videos. It so needed these days!❤️
THANK YOU for making the virtual events possible. Most retreats are out of my budget and it feels nice to have an accessible way to celebrate stitching together. Looking forward to 2025!
Omg!!!!!!! Thanks for more virtual events!!!!! I know they an be a pain for both sides sometimes but so worth it! You just made my day! My favorite Halloween costume was Phantom of the Opera when I was 20. I went to a party with the "half mask" on. After a while, people asked if I was hot and that I should take my mask off. I told them (in character) that I don't normally do that but that I would. I proceeded to take off my mask revealing my grossed out mangled right side of my face!!!!! I spent an hour making bloody scars, etc before the party! The look on people's faces upon the reveal was priceless!!!!! We all had a good laugh! Memories....
Thank you Thank you Thank you for more virtual events. I am going to an actual retreat next week but it will be the last that I will ever be able to afford. This would make me so sad if it were not for you and Jason and your crew. You folks are really adding joy and fun to the lives of those of us who cannot afford driving or flying across the country and paying hotel and retreat fees. Please know how very very much you are appreciated. And of course I already have my Jingle Ball ticket. 😀 Yes Captain! 🤣
Hold the phone - FIVE events next year!? You guys are awesome 🤩 Loved your Kathy Barrick finish, Steph, and it was fun seeing past fall finishes. My favorite childhood costume was Pippi Longstocking - my mom bent a wire hanger and braided my hair around it so it stuck out sideways. It was incredible. Happy Monday! 💜
Hello, oh my so much goodness 😊. I want to stitch it ALL. My favorite costume as a child was dressing up as a gypsy, I had a long full red skirt with a cotton lace blouse, large colorful bead necklaces with large hoop earrings and of course the beauty mark and bandanna to complete the ensemble. Thank you for the question that brought back such fun memories. Take care and see you next time 😊
Just wanted to let you know I love ordering from you as product is beautiful, customer service is awesome and great packaging and last but not least addicted to the coffee candy.
You handled the ticket issue with grace! My favorite childhood costume was when I attempted to dress as Gem but we couldn't find a pink wig so I wore a rainbow spiked wig. It was great! 😆
That Teresa Kogut piece on that fabric is amazing. My favorite Halloween costume was made by my mother. I was rainbow Brite, and she even made me a wig out of yarn
Favorite Halloween costume: Tinker Bell. My mom made the fairy wings from coat hangers and pantyhose! Thank you for all you and your team do to make the virtual events so incredible!
My favorite Halloween costume was a pumpkin. We took one of those big plastic leaf bags that had a Jack O'Lantern face on it and cute holes for my arms and legs and then tied it at my neck after stuffing it with paper. I had an orange piece of paper with a green painted toilet paper roll on it secured to my head for my pumpkin top with stem. It was definitely hard to get in the car to visit my grandpa, but I was definitely warm for trick or treating in the cold later that night.
Looking forward to attending more of your virtual events. Thanks for doing this, appreciate all the work you and your team put into it. Have a great weekend.
My favorite Halloween costume was Miss Piggy. My grandma made the costume and it had this beautiful purple dress complete with stuffing to make us "pig like." 😄Great video!
I'm excited about more virtual events! I have a FT job, small kids and a slim disposable income budget so I would very much appreciate virtual events, looking forward to my first Jingle Ball!
We didn't trick or treat as kids but we did get together at church and go on a hayride, we lived out in the country. My favorite part of the hayride was stopping at my great aunt's house for homemade popcorn balls. They were so delicious.
My favorite Halloween costume was one my mom made for me when I was 7 or 8- I was a Hershey kiss complete with the ribbon hat and all! She even made a mini costume for my Teddy stuffed bear that went w me everywhere (confession: I STILL have him and he still makes a great pillow!). When I saw your reel of the newest ahw releases, Lit caught my eye and I couldn't click over to ur site fast enough!!! I can't believe how fast it came, too...thank you! I'm slowly kitting it up now. I'm normally super arachnaphobic but those jumping spiders r just too cute so that plum street may make its way into my stash soon! Love you Mother and Child; that piece is truly stunning! Happy stitching Steph! 🐈⬛🪡❤️
I am so excited as this will be my first Jingle Ball! Living in Canada, most retreats are unaffordable now that I'm retired, but this is going to be perfect! Thank you for all the prep work you do to make this possible. My fav Halloween costume as a child was Pebbles Flintstone. I had first worn it in my skating recital and it was adorable!!
My favorite costume as a kid was what we called a hobo. I would wear my dad’s winter coat and that was great because it was usually cold and an added bonus, it was easy to get out of when back home - which meant getting to the candy stash faster.
Yes captain! My favourite Halloween costume was the 80s classic of a sheet, a hard plastic mask from the papershop, and a tinsel wig. My family was not crafty at all. 😂 i love the new bat and spider patterns.
I am very excited and thankful to be able to attend my first Jingle Ball this year! Thank you for this opportunity. My favorite costume was when I went as a leprechaun. Very unusual and I love Irish folklore still. 🎃☘️ Favorite fall activity was our whole family of 8 kids watching our dad carve the pumpkin. Then, he roasted seeds for us to share.
Looking forward to my 3rd Jingle Ball. How you outdo yourself every year is incredible! My favorite costume was my first grade genie/harem girl made by my mom--and I was so sad when she made me wear a sweater over it trick or treating because of the cold weather.
I always wanted to be a witch as I loved the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz. Weird, huh? That green smoke just did it for me when she came on stage. I vote do a drum. Yay! More stitching events! many thanks!
I was a victim of the store-bought, plastic-mask costume era but can't recall a favorite! I remember one year I was a bear, and my sister was Mrs. Beasley. On a side note, I subscribe to PNPS magazine but mainly for the cross stitch. I've never tried punch needle, but they have so many cute designs and after seeing your projects I feel inspired to give it a try!
I'm so grateful that you will have more virtual events! My favorite fall activity is driving a 100 mile trip each year to get pumpkins with my family in the country.
In the Fall when I was a wee little one. My favorite Halloween costume was Casper the Friendly Ghost. The type of costumes that had the plastic mask. So many lovely new patterns. I look forward to all the fun things coming up.
I have never celebrated Halloween as it is my Daughter's birthday. I love waiting for a nearby orchard to sell there apples and their wonderful to die for fresh apple cider. I then make homemade caramel to dip some of the apples in. This was a cherished family tradition when I was a young child. I now want to continue this tradition with my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It's just a neat way to start the fall season.
My favorite Halloween costume was when I got to be Tweetie Bird! Loved it! You were fabulous during Jingle Ball/Taylor Swift event. You made it fun, kept us in the loop with What’s his name and made jokes about hoagies. Thanks!
Back in the 1990's, my favorite costume was a big Tomato! We just saw the movie "The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes". My ex and I each made a big tomato out of red fabric and wore green sweatpants. They were really cool. For fun i tried to watch the movie. Only made it through 15 minutes it was sooooo bad!
Yes Captain!!! I’m stitching away. Thank you for the update. Really looking forward to 2024 Jingle Ball. Last year I made your candied almond recipe and it was a huge success. I will be making it again for party favors this holiday season. Looking forward to what ever you might share this year.
I am going to the Jingle Ball for the first time and I am so excited! My favorite costume was the year I went as the Statue of Liberty. My mom (who was pretty crafty herself) made it and it was awesome. Happy Halloween! 🖤🧡🖤🖤🎃
I don’t remember any of my childhood costumes or my children’s … I do remember going trick or treating as a child … back then we walked in our small town and all of the elderly people loved seeing us each year … it was so much fun back in the day and it was safe for us as children … I enjoyed your video tonight … I have not signed up for Jingle Ball yet but I’m thinking about it … I have to check out a few things before I can commit … until next time Happy Stitching 🧵 … 😊❤ Dena
My favorite Halloween costume was a store bought Princess dress with a tiara. My mom also made homemade donuts on Halloween for a treat. They were the best!
My favorite memory/costume go hand in hand. I would spend the month mixing and matching items from the dress up clothes toy box. In the end, I was always a gypsy.
Best news ever! I love your online events. I am surprised when someone has not heard of the Jingle Ball because I consider you famous. I shared that information at my last Sampler guild meeting.
I LOVE all of your fall finishes. A Michelle Palmer design to ambitious for a newer puncher but you did a great job. The key is - practice, practice, and practice some more! I had made myself a ghost costume one year and it was my favorite.
My favorite Halloween costume was when I was "Thing" from the original 1964 "The Addams Family" black and white TV show. My mom made my costume. My left arm was the thumb, right arm was the pinky. The three middle fingers where stuffed and sat above my head. The palm of the hand had life lines which were slit so I could see. And a big black box with no bottom hung off the costume. I remember it vividly. Also, my brother was "Cousin It" His costume was made of tan Hawaiian grass skirts in layers, a bowler hat and sunglasses. We were such a hit when we went out Trick or Treating.
I can’t say enough how much I love your personality! You just make my day so much better when I stitch to your floss tubes. Excited for the new virtual line up next year and of course Jingle ball. I’m old enough that we had those plastic face masks with our costumes, lol. That was so far back in the 50’s & 60’s I really can’t remember any except the one year I was a princess but no idea if it was a certain princess or just a generic one, lol.
I don't remember much about my childhood. But I do recall that I made by hand most of my kids costumes. I made a dragon out fit and it was adorable. We went to an orchard yesterday and got apples, cider and apple cider donuts! Thanks for all your hardworking on the Jingle Ball.
Yes Captain! Great video. Love all your finishes. New & old. I have my ticket to the ball. I'm a 1st timer and can't wait. Candy apples are my favorite Fall treat. Happy stitching.
My favorite Halloween costume was the witch costume that my mother sewed for me. The hat was sewn in a way that it stood up by itself. I wore it to school for a costume contest and won! (The teachers were amazed that the hat stood up by itself.) For the finish, I suggest that you use the idea the Blackbird ladies have suggested: make a color copy of your stitched piece and paste it to a box from the craft store, then finish the actual piece as a drum. (Love me a drum finish.)
My fav costume was when I was in HS and I got to dress up as a witch and go read Halloween stories to little kids at the elementary schools. My witch makeup was by our drama club sponsor and it was epic (warts and all!).
I didn't go trick or treating after kindergarten because we moved into the country. But my favorite Halloween costume is one my nephew had one year. He had an airplane made out of cardboard and a leather jacket and hat.
My favorite Halloween costume was dressing as a football player and my golden retriever at the time as a “rufferee” wearing his black and white stripes and carrying his own football. Thank you for sharing your finishes …. The news about your virtual events is exciting and I am so looking forward to attending my second Jingle Ball. I’m not a fan of drum finishes, so I say finish your piece so you can enjoy the entire piece.
So excited for Jingle Ball! And 5 events next year? Woohoo!! My favorite Halloween costume was the witch costume my oldest brother put together before he took me trick or treating when I was around 10. He made the hat out of black construction paper. It turned out real cute!
Halloween wasn't big in the UK when I was small. But my fav thing about autumn( fall) is the seasonal hot chocolates which come out. Curled up by the fire with my stitching plus a Hot chocolate, perfect ... Ooohhh so many new yummy charts ..
Didn't have halloween in my youth but my favourite fall "thing" is the crisp autumn smell, the gorgeous colours of the changing trees and going for a hike on a trail with crisp leaves underneath my feet, an intense blue sky, and a fresh cool breeze against my cheeks. Oh and btw...finish the piece in a drum!!!
Great video as always. My Mom made me a pirate costume when I was six. She embroidered playing cards on the shirt and sewed big gold hoop earrings onto a bandana for around my hair. I still have it and I’m way past six.
Wow! Such exciting news that more virtual events are coming!!!❤❤🎉🎉 My favorite costume ever was being a clown. My mom made the costume and painted my face. We’re talking early 70s and now it’s probably a scary clown…but I remember giggling the whole time we trick or treated. Happy Halloween Steph!
IT MUST BE A DRUM! I need to see that pumpkin in the urn match up! My Mom made me be the Wicked Witch of the West at least twice as a child. She plastered green paint all over my face and I remember hating it. The end 😂 #theybeatthefiddlystitchingrightoutofme
I have fabric envy on your Teresa Kogut piece! WOW It’s gorgeous! I’m SOOOO excited for all the new online events coming next year! Thanks so much to you and the team for making this happen. When I was 11 or so, my Dad helped me make a Ghostbusters costume, complete with a backpack made out of a cardboard box wrapped in tin foil, with real lights that blinked, and a vacuum hose connected to a giant mag flashlight for the wand part. Sometimes it’s really great having an engineer for a Dad.
Aye Cap'n that is exactly what Im doing!! My most memorable costumre was a ghost...just an old sheet but i had one those hard plastic, suffocating, eye holes that didnt match masks from Kmart! I loved every minute of my trick or treat ! Beautiful stitching Stephanie ❤
Yes Captain! I know I will get flack for this but my favorite snack for Halloween is candy corn. Have my Jingle Ball pj's and mug ready to go. Counting down the days.
I never had a Halloween costume but my favorite holiday tradition was walking in a local park with my father collecting hazel nuts. Ouch stickers in my fingers!
Favorite costume sure brings back memories. The one I remember the most is when my sister and I dressed as hippies. Our outfits were the same, just different colors.
My favourite Halloween costume was a giant pumpkin. My father used chicken wire and papermache followed by orange crapepaper. I enjoyed seeing your finishes.
Most of my costumes as a kid were out of a box from the department store. I remember being a gypsy and Holly Hobbie. I think my favorite was when I was quite young and was a bunny. I loved the live stream "hoagie-fest" during the Great Jingle Ball Ticket Crash of 2024". Still say we need a T-shirt or stickers or something.
My favorite costume was one my mother, a non sewer but more than adequate swearer, made when I was about 8, a puppy dog outfit which then was passed along to many others.
My favorite Halloween costume growing up was when I was Pippi Longstocking. My mom straightened out a coat hanger and put it in my hair to make my braids stick out!
Yes Captain! Thanks to Team Lindy Stitches for all your amazing work. I am someone who is unable to attend in person retreats, and y’all make it possible for me to get a taste of that experience from the comfort of my home. I love y’all so much! ❤
5 events next year! You’re killing it! :) As a mom with 2 babies, including a nursling, at home stitchy events are so appreciated. My favorite Halloween costume memory was actually one of my sister’s costumes. My mom glued yellow sponges all over a cardboard box (spongebob!), but then they dried and shriveled up.. which totally ruined the look lol. Also my sis got stuck in the box. I’m in love with your Mother and Child finish. I lived in west Africa for a couple years.. so many near and dear memories for me. I’ve scoured the internet for more info about that chart/kit and have come up empty. I have an Ebay alert set.. do let me know if you (or other people who see this comment) have any more info. ❤
My fav Halloween costume as a kid was my troll costume (trolls from the 90’s, with the gem belly buttons 😄) my dad even made some apparatus out of metal coat hangers so my actual hair stood straight up; it was epic and so 90’s! 😅
Steph...you & your crew are amazing!! I'm so grateful for all your work to bring us these virtual retreats, as I can't attend the non virtual kind. So looking forward to the Jingle Ball! Love the Kathy Barrick finish...my vote is for the drum with maybe a pumpkin on top. Also love your fabric choice for the Halloween Sampler! Thanks for sharing all the new patterns...just can't stitch fast enough!!!
So excited for The Ball itll be my first stitching event! My favorite Halloween costume was probably when me and my friends were the spice girls because we fully committed and it pretty much lasted as our identity til Christmas
My favorite costume was a Snoopy costume handmade by my mom. She never sewed, so the fact that she made this was astonishing to me. I cherish the memory to this day!!
My favorite costume was an original poodle skirt that begged my mom for from a thrift store that was next door from a funeral home down the street when we lived in Tennessee. Beautiful finish. Happy stitching.
Not saying it was my favorite, but a disastrous costume I remember was when I decided to be a California Raisin and made the outfit myself from a trash bag filled with lumpy newspapers. I looked dreadful and not at all like a raisin. Ah well. Thanks for all you do to bring us such fun events!!
I grew up in a country that didn’t celebrate Halloween, but after I moved to the States I made Halloween costumes for my kids and my favorite one is a witch costume I made for my daughter including the hat.
Thank you so much for committing to making virtual retreats a regular thing. I’m housebound due to chronic ill health, so virtual events are the only opportunity I have to connect with other stitchers and meet new people. This years Jingle Ball will be my first, and I can’t wait! 😊

My favorite costume was my one-eyed flying purple purple eater... It was crazy and I loved it. No one else was that
Just wanted to let you know I love ordering from you as product is beautiful, customer service is awesome and great packaging and last but not least addicted to the coffee candy.
You handled the ticket issue with grace! My favorite childhood costume was when I attempted to dress as Gem but we couldn't find a pink wig so I wore a rainbow spiked wig. It was great! 😆
I need to live to be 150 to finish all the projects, but you completely enabled me for Barbara Ana All Creatures.
You need to put your drum on an electric lazy susan so that it constantly rotates.
That Teresa Kogut piece on that fabric is amazing.
My favorite Halloween costume was made by my mother. I was rainbow Brite, and she even made me a wig out of yarn
I always loved my cat costume. I think it was the whiskers.😊
Favorite Halloween costume: Tinker Bell. My mom made the fairy wings from coat hangers and pantyhose! Thank you for all you and your team do to make the virtual events so incredible!
I love the Teresa stitch. It is a happy Halloween instead of dark. I love the colors
"they beat the fiddly stitching right out of me" Kids will do that. You are hilarious. Thanks for the humor.
My favorite Halloween costume was a pumpkin. We took one of those big plastic leaf bags that had a Jack O'Lantern face on it and cute holes for my arms and legs and then tied it at my neck after stuffing it with paper. My favorite Halloween costume was Miss Piggy. My grandma made the costume and it had this beautiful purple dress complete with stuffing to make us "pig like." 😄Great video!
My favorite costume was a lion that my mom made from burlap fabric with yellow yarn looped around my face. She made for a play I was in, wizard of oz!
I'm excited about more virtual events! I have a FT job, small kids and a slim disposable income budget so I would very much appreciate virtual events, looking forward to my first Jingle Ball!

My favorite Halloween costume was a black bat costume that I made. I was very creative when I was a child. Yes captain
I am so excited as this will be my first Jingle Ball! Living in Canada, most retreats are unaffordable now that I'm retired, but this is going to be perfect! My favorite costume was a baby doll - wearing my grandma's friend's square dance dress.
You did a wonderful job dealing with everything! There was nothing you could have done to prevent what happened. Can't wait for my first Ball!
Yes captain! My favourite Halloween costume was the 80s classic of a sheet, a hard plastic mask from the papershop, and a tinsel wig. My family was not crafty at all. 😂 i love the new bat and spider patterns.
Favorite Halloween Costume - my mom made me a flapper costume out of a super cool dress we found at Goodwill…it was so much fun!!
I am very excited and thankful to be able to attend my first Jingle Ball this year! Thank you for this opportunity. My favorite costume was when I went as a leprechaun. I made a pink panther costume, was my favorite . You always put a smile on my face. Thanks
We didn’t have Halloween but used to have costumes for Carnival instead. My favorite was being a ladybug 🐞 with a cute antennae hairband…

Cant wait for the Jingle Ball!!! My 3rd year!!! My favorite Halloween costume was when I dressed up as a golfer!!!
My favorite memory/costume go hand in hand. I would spend the month mixing and matching items from the dress up clothes toy box. In the end, I was always a gypsy.

My stepmother used to sew my Halloween costumes. I think the best was when I was Pippi Longstocking. Had a really fun patchwork dress for that.
You are always such fun, Stephanie. ❤❤❤
Halloween sampler is fabulous on that fabric!
I’ve already stitched Arranging Ornaments and I LOVED IT! Found a lovely green frame for it.
Don't know if it was my favorite but the only costume I remember from my childhood was a black cat. Thanks for another great video!
Favorite costume sure brings back memories. The one I remember the most is when my sister and I dressed as hippies. Our outfits were the same, just different colors.
My favorite Halloween costume was Mary Poppins my mother was a seamstress and she made all our costumes. I used the carpet bag to hold my candy.
My favourite Halloween costume was a giant pumpkin. My father used chicken wire and papermache followed by orange crapepaper.
I enjoyed seeing your finishes.
My Dad made me a ghost costume out of a sheet - but it was amazing because when I raised my arms there were bats hidden there!
Love that Halloween stitch cat sampler.
My costume favorite is Little Red Riding Hood Enjoying all your cross stitch
So excited for The Ball itll be my first stitching event!
My favorite Halloween costume was probably when me and my friends were the spice girls because we fully committed and it pretty much lasted as our identity til Christmas
My favorite costume was a Snoopy costume handmade by my mom. She never sewed, so the fact that she made this was astonishing to me. I cherish the memory to this day!!
My favorite costume was an original poodle skirt that begged my mom for from a thrift store that was next door from a funeral home down the street when we lived in Tennessee. Beautiful finish. Happy stitching.
YEAH to more events!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite Halloween costume was by far an R2D2 costume that my aunt made for me complete with a tape recorder with sound!❤
I love your Light My Candle finish and the Cat and Moon is amazing!
My favorite Halloween costume was Cinder before she was cinderella. My mom made it for me. I love fall colors .
So much beutiful designs! My favourite costume was i pink fancy witch, with a little sprinkles and glam.
