One thing I think you forgot to mention was the film stock you prefer for these Point and shoots... The film itself makes a huge difference in the feel and vibe of the photo... I'm a big fan of portra 160 for everyday photos in my film cameras
i love digital point and shoot, like the old ones, talking abot 2007, 7mp, etc. i love them. specially Sony's ones. It's a very good alternative if u cant afford film
So glad to find some relatability in your videos. I carry a GR digital but it’s the first digital one from 2006 and I love it so much. It’s my every day carry, everywhere carry for sure
wow you made me truly appreciate my point and shoot. i haven't really managed to have the same quality as your images from a point and shoot but i want to try. this was such an inspiring video, thank you
I always carry my 8.1 megapixel Ricoh gr digital and an Olympus Af1 Infinity with the super sharp 35mm 2.8 Zuiko lens. Instant start up and shoots with interesting random flash intervention shots. Weatherproof too.
I’m making a mental note to myself to shoot a bit more film, with digital compacts , I have a Canon G7x and the great quality of phones (iPhone 13) being so good it’s easy to get lazy and use those. I’ve a couple of the original Contax T , the one with the fold down front, manual rangefinder focusing and manual film advance, and a T3, and your images are a good reminder as to why they should get more use. Same with an Olympus OM2 that my late father bought for me. You’ve kick started my interest , thanks
Thinking of getting a Sony zv1 for everyday stills like this, but also for the option of good videos without needing extra equipment. I think it's about half the price of a contax, do you think it's a good point and shoot camera?
Love my Canon ELPH series cameras most of the time. They took wonderful pictures. The 190IS is my favorite by far. Most pictures I took are as good as Mark 3/Sony AR3 full frame.
I’ve been craving a Point and Shoot because of that reason specifically. This video literally spoke towards my thoughts! Specifically for your silhouettes are those captured with the cameras focusing on the background? Not sure if you can speak toward which camera captured those. But my biggest frustration lately with those I have purchased have been the inconsistency of capturing all moments has me still shopping for the perfect one
I really Leo the idea of an point and shoot tbh. Got my fuji Xt-30 to be able to take a camera with me more often but I noticed most of the times I do not take it with me. Maybe a point and shoot will do the trick. Certainly the Contax T series has the highest appeal to me but damn they're expensive!
Thank you! I use it normally at night when I’m shooting, but I tend to use no flash during the day. The T3 let’s you configure whether the flash comes on or off when you turn on the camera. Super nice 👍🏼
Nice video. Subbed. Scans: My photo 'lab' does a relatively simple scan-probably not much better than I could do with a little elbow grease. Do you think these very basic scans increase the grain or decrease the potential quality of the images? How do your negatives get scanned? I use a Minox 35 GL 35.

I’m always using a mix of Portra 400,800 color plus and Kodak gold, also hp5 is my favorite BW stock for 35mm!
Its very apparent how much you love this camera by the images you've shared here. Love to see it!
I have one too, and I love it just as much!
@@MelvilleMcKee what's the name
@@nava3548 Contax T3. This comment is a bit late :D

Thanks for your inspiring video! Just got my Leica D-Lux and plan on carrying with me all the time.
Very nice review of the Contax t3, what kind of scanner do you use for the negatives?
Best

I run the canon prima mini and it s my memory machine for sure! Point&shoots are a must
going to sleep and boom, samuel uploads, goodnight indeed.
hah - nice little night cap
Any digital p&s cameras under $300 you could recommend?
Thinking of getting a Sony zv1 for everyday stills like this, but also for the option of good videos without needing extra equipment. I think it's about half the price of a contax, do you think it's a good point and shoot camera?
Great video & some wonderful images. One unexpected benefit of my buying a Fuji x100v ... It's always with me.
I agree Samuel! loved the photos you shared in this!
Very nice! Where do you get your film developed at?
Amazing photos. New supporter from Philippines
Amazing collection. Super inspiring ❤. Where do you scan your film? The quality looks superb for 35mm.
Been meaning to grab a point and shoot for a while now, I'll take this as a sign to make that purchase
where did you get that sick corduroy button up?
The tiny shirt pocket Minox 35 GT is very tempting.
Sam, can you make a video about editing your film?
Yeah, would love to see that one
Hey man great stuff.
What model is that camera?
Nice shots. What part of Montana? I used to live in Great Falls. I carry my Fuji x30 with me all the time.

You inspire me time after time. Thank you for that Samuel.
Curious to know if you prefer the T3 over the T2?
Do you prefer the T3 or the M6 ?
T3 all day for me personally
I have the opportunity to trade a leica m6 I don't use for a contax t3, should I do it?
Yes, if you're not using it, what's the point of having it anyway, right?
Gorgeous imagery, I have a T2. Can’t wait to finally get to travel with it. Would love to know the stocks you favour with your p&s’s!

amazing photos, really enjoyed watching each and everyone of them. will try to replicate the colors with my Fujifilm cameras
Great to hear!
Totally identify. Have you tried the Minilux/Leica CM?
Love my T2, such a good point and shoot. Very inspiring Sam!
Loved this, happy for you man frl, keep being great
Nice, which film stock did you use for the first photos?
i use an olympus mju 2 zoom 115, i loved it but i’m gonna upgrade to a yashica tproof pretty soon
Nicely done. Jim
Is this full frame?
My favourite point and shoot is the original Fujifilm x100!

Wil you filter your photo(edit the color) after you scan the film?
This may be random but how do you add white background to the photos you show to us?
Amazing photography skills btw!
you can do it in snapseed on ios, not sure how to do it elsewhere
Contax T3 is the GOAT
Loving the vids man 🤙🏼 keep doin what you’re doing
Great video Sam, thanks for sharing your work. Curious, how much do you use the flash? I tend to leave it on, but it looks like you don't that much?

@@SamuelElkinsPhoto Thanks for the insight!
Love the video/shots dude! Real question is when's the next book coming out tho?? lol
Another beautiful video Samuel!❤️ One doubt: do you edit all of your photos or do you keep some/most of them unedited?
As always a great video and beautiful photos
Glad you enjoyed it thanks man
Aye Lee's tee's! Love JH
what model is that camera ?
Any recommendations for a digital pns?
ive heard nice things about the ricoh cameras, or maybe even a fuji x100?

the resolution is so good on these!!!
If you could only have 3 film cameras, what would they be?
wow you finally got a t3!
Quite a lot of digicam lovers in the comments, definitely a future trend, specially with current film prices.
truth.....truth
We need day in the life bro bro
No more Q2?
What's your favorite point & shoot under ~$200, if you have one?
i would look at olympus stylus or MJU
@@SamuelElkinsPhoto nice, thanks! i've been looking for an f2.8 stylus for a while, but they're pretty expensive now
@@jordanxavr yeah they are. keep on the lookout and check craigslist etc!
I’d pick up a Contax T3 for $200.
Time to pull out my Contax T? Hmmm
contax are sooooooo expensive
If I spent two grand on a pocket camera, I'd take it with me everywhere, too...
All the way to my grave.
Why not just use the latest smartphone? This is also a point and shoot 😀
