Came to your channel for the g37 sunroof drain fix as my my son recently bought an 09 g37s rwd! Thumbed through you channel & notice you have TBSS also & so do I so DEFINITELY SUBBED!!!! Great video on converting as well!!!
Thanks for the support! I like that my channel has a variety. Some like it, some don't. But, I have too many cars to only focus on one. Glad you enjoy the TBSS vids! More to come!
@@kova_motive yes sir in 2006. I'm in South Carolina and don't need it here either not sure why I didn't think about going 2wd. Would have saved weight also. Look on my channel and some videos way down we did have some snow here many years ago and I actually took it out in it. And I never drove it in the rain up until that point but was so worth it. Photos of it here www.timshelnut.com/Photography/Cars/Tim/Me
What did it take to get the front axles out? Do you just remove remove them on each side and then drain the front diff and you're good? Also is this transfer case only found in the 5.3 models, or is it the same in the 6 cylinder models as well? Great vid btw!
I'm trying to get the TC into 2wd and am thinking Im missing something. Im turning the inner shaft all the way clockwise and it has some springback. It wont stay turned all the way and when I turn the input shaft the forward output shaft still spins. Any ideas?
I think you'd need to get your transfer case control module either re-flashed or replaced for selectable 4wd and then get those prop shaft sensors wired up to the TCCM as well as get wiring from the 4wd dash switch back to the TCCM under the rear seat (I think). A GM dealer should be able to re-flash the module for an hour labor and the pigtails for the 4wd switch and the prop sensors can be found at the dealer or some aftermarket parts stores. Wiring diagram for the TCCM can be found online.
I am doing this to my 2006 Trailblazer. As I was thinking about things could you leave the front driveshaft in place?. If the transfer case is in 2WD the front driveshaft is not engaged and there would be no gears turning in the front differential. Thanks
I’ve got the same question. That part seemed to be kinda glazed over. Disassembling the CV might work as an axle stub? Not sure. Have a new set on hand. Got my selectable transfer case in 2wd high sitting here with a new gasket ready to go in.
@@maxxflow84 After watching the vid again, I'm thinking he didn't remove the front cv's...though he said he did...seems to be how these install vids go when you realize you can't do what you thought you could...fake it till you make it!
Take the cv axles out cut the ends off and bolt back in as stubs, if your looking to remove the front diff completely the easiest way is to drop the oil pan... to drop the oil pan you need to remove 2 crossmember in the fronttake the bolts out of the front diff on each side the passenger side will need taken completely apart to pull the shaft out and the drivers will just sit to the side. You will then need to disconnect the tierod from the passenger side then drop the passenger side of the rack and pinion so it's at an angle and gives clearance to take the oil pan bolts out you will also need to take the bolts from the ac compressor to the oil pan out but wont effect the compressor or need to remove. Dont forget to drain them fluids or your gonna get soaked. Anyone can hit me up on FB if you need help.
Man u have to put a selector switch in somehow to shift the transfer case no point in having an ss if u can't shift to AWD when u want then back to 2wd for daily driving
Instead of replacing the transfer case, has anyone tried removing any 4x4/awd related fuses (along with front axles) to potentially make the transfer case function as rwd?
@@kova_motive I have a 04 trailblazer with the option to go from awd to 2wd high do you recommend to still get another transfer case, and I have the motor pulled out right now with the oil pan do you think it would be best to switch go 2wd or just keep my current one
Nice tbss I have an 06 silver rwd tbss bought it with 156,000 I’ve done long tubes, headers, e fans, trans cooler and c6 oil pan swap so far myself. Debating on caming it. I was wondering how much did you pay for yours at 122,000 got mine for 7800. Also subscribed
Awesome, sounds like we'll have similar builds. I have speed engineering headers waiting to go on and will definitely do a cam and stall/trans. Your exhaust combo sounds super clean, one of the best sounding for our trucks. Sounds like you got a deal on yours for sure. I paid closer to 15 wit 90k miles. It was mint so I thought the price was fair.
This video deserves a million+ views! Thanks for showing us!!

Oh man this makes me miss mine so bad! I had ordered AWD and after few months was wishing I had 2wd.
You bought yours new? I love this thing, so much fun! Even more fun now that its 2wd. Don't really need AWD in Florida anyway.

Hey do u have the part # for transfer case
@@henrysmith1590 not sure whom this is directed too? But I don't have part number for transfer case I never had to do anything to mine.

Can you go into a little more detail on the process you used of removing the front CV’s?
Just sold my 07 rwd buying awd I want to build the motor and have a good launch 🚀
Mine is allready like this , I might drop my front drive shaft for a little better mpg in the summer time!
Does it matter if it’s 226 from a 5.3 or 4.2 trailblazer?
If you haven't sold it, I'd like to buy the awd transfer case and front driveshaft. 😁 im building an awd 71 gmc c10, if not, it was worth a shot 🤙

Great content! Thank you!
Can this be done on an ss Silverado
I was about to ask the same thing. We’re on the same page lol.
You ever find out?
@@VaqueroKnowsBest you ever find out?
I got a service 4x4 light after that and she don’t wanna do burnouts if the lights on
What about the burnouts? 😅
is it possibly the same with a Silverado SS
question.....does converting to rear wheel drive get you better gas mileage?
Maybe a silly question, but would you be willing to do this for someone else and what would you charge for such a job?
Just curious
Thanks
Love the no bumper gap I will be doing mine this summer and the 2wd conversion ✌🏾
Thanks! You'll love 2wd.
Do it have to be gm226hd? Or will a Gm226 work?
I was wondering how the rwd is versus the awd I like the awd because of the launch
I will be making a video comparing the 2. Launch of AWD cant be beat but I like the feel of the RWD overall.
Question does the transfer case gotta come out of a 5.3 envoy motor or 4.2 envoy motor transfer case work the same
Is there a way to add the switch and make it selectable? Would love to have rwd to have fun but want the awd for new England winters..

Hello, when you run it, do you set it to 1 and then Drive?
Will this same steps work on the 07-14 Escalade/Denali, from the selectable 2wd to 4wd off a 07-14 tahoe?
As far as power would you free up any or would it be the same as in the awd setup?

Locking differential does it works?
Do you have to disassemble cv shafts and reinstall outer stubs through the hubs?

Would this be the same process for a 05 Escalade?? Had Alltime AWD

This system is mechanically controlled, not electronic. Just removing front driveshaft would render it un drivable.
Sup, man. In for the follow up on the rwd conversion update.
Video just posted!
Did you have to change hubs when you pulled the front cv axles off?
Cut the ends off and use them as stubs
I'm interested in going the other way. The selectable four-wheel drive to all-wheel drive. What's your thoughts?
Are you talking about the manual selectable case from the 4x4 trucks?

Mg226 transfer case ?
Will this transfer case work for 2008?
Yes it will!
What drop?
No big burnout i was already for it man now I’m sad. 😂

I'm not sure actually. Its not selectable? Full time awd?

Meant to say 🤦♂️ i put the speed engineering headers with the corsa sport exhaust that’s a really good pairing and pretty affordable

Yes it did. Burnout in the beginning shows it works as it should haha.

There wasn’t a burnout in the video..
@@uniqueperformanceracing4282 in the beginning lmfao
Would this work for the awd 2002 eacalade
Not sure, I’d have to check.
So do u have the switch to switch it to 4hi
I don't. You could always use a manually selectable T-case and run a selector into the cabin.
🤙🏻🍕
We need to see how it drives man
Will be doing a follow up and track video soon!
I apologize wrong person
Why would you want to convert to rwd from awd???
Shit all that cost more than 100 dollar s
Just sell your AWD and buy a 2wd version. There aren't many of these trucks left as it is, no reason to be hacking them up like this.
