I don’t think you need to be a veteran. If you’re around friends and family who are, you have a level of sympathy. PTSD isn’t a joke and I wish people could put themselves in other people’s shoes.

Why didn't someone within the organization advise him of FMLA?? Was he eligible for disability retirement? Is disability retirement offered through the CTA? Was his supervisor in contact with him regarding his return? So many questions
FMLA doesn't cover some things. He was on Short-term disability because of the amount of time he was out of work. After the Short-term disability was exhausted his claim was shifted to long-term. The bottom line is that he was let go to save the company money.

Though some judges are incompetent and may not allow your recording to be permissible in court, it will NEVER be deemed as illegal. I record the incompetent DMHC in the state of CA ALL of the time and they know it. I cannot tell you the countless times I received wrong information and different answers from different employees.

Businesses can't operate if employees take off for 6 months at a time. Jackson had been off for 6 months and wanted more time. He was due to return to work on December 17th. Well, we all know that no one wants to return to work during the holidays. I hate he lost his job but companies have policies in place so people don't abuse their benefits.

The main factor is a failure of some sort. You can go to jail or you can go to jail for a crime you didn't do and aren't prepared for it.

Nawl bro, if you not approved, take yourself to work. Your short term had an end date and your long term was pending. That means you need to be at work till your approval arrives or You may recieve a denial letter.
As a veteran, all he has to do is file a claim with the ESGR as long as he has the proper documents filed with his former employer. I see them twice and they stopped my past employers from denying my preparation for deployment (incident 1 in 2003)and returning from annual training maintaining my current shift and hours at a new building (2015). They are great and care about veterans

This is a place of work, not some charity. We're not hiring and paying people to not work for over half a year. As a veteran myself, I understand he has some issues but there comes a point where this can't go on.

That's probably why they fired him... because it was almost time for him to collect his full pension. Many companies or corporations find a bogus reason to do something like this when a person is nearing full retirement. Shameful.

I am sorry that this happened to him but he played himself on this one. There is no winning this case. CTA gave him short term disability with out hesitation. He should have within the second or third month contacted someone at CTA and asked what if I need more time what should I do? At that point they would have told him about long term. He then could have applied for it during the short term coverage and he would have been approved while he was protected under the short term disability. However he waited a few weeks prior to ask these questions and then applied to long term right before he was supposed to return to work. He was officially AWOL at that point. Its unfortunate this happened.
He didn’t play himself. CTA’s higher ups played him. Also, CTA’s union sucks as does their arbitration, along with the one-sided crooked attorneys. They’re going to get enough of mistreating long-term employees. People get legitimately ill. Unfortunately, EEOC deals with discrimination that’s difficult to prove. Hopefully he’ll find an attorney that’s not afraid of taking on CTA or find one that’s not on the take.

Noticed he called them weeks out to say he needed more time and then they told him about the long-term disability. So if he would have called two or three months within his short term disability they would have told him about the long term and he could have applied. In 2023 and beyond you have to be on your business because no one else is going to run behind you and ask you did you do this or did you do that. The union didn’t fail him nor did hire ups; he failed himself. Notice he is working now. He could have went back to work and put in for long term while waiting on approval. There are tons of things I can think of that he could have done, that he didn’t do. He played himself.

He handled ATTENDANCE. So he should know what the procedures are. Let's flip this for a minute: say he's in the company and wants to promote to that position. Only he can't, because there's a guy already there who has the position, but actually doesn't required to do anything for over 6 months. How is that fair?

We have the same diagnosis and some days are harder than others. With medication and counseling he’s going to be okay ❣️

Contact legal aide for a wrongful terminaton suit or negotiate being vested to retire from the CTA in lieu of litigation. . , oi
