Thanks man. just added this effect to a symbol animation for a game. looks great. I have to point out. Maybe is this version of AE I'm working on 2024 but took me a while to figure out the luma matte. in this version there are two side by side click boxes next to the matte scroll down where u can select a matte layer. Anyway just click on the 1st box next to it. it switches to luma/alpha matte here. Thanks again. Great tutorial. P.S. Added a dancing dissolved in the layer mode. this makes the outline dance. Cool
Please read the value you set your settings at in the future (Brightness around -50, Contrast around 180, etc.). It's very helpful for those of us who are following along and are therefore not actually watching the video, only listening to you because we're in the program and seeing how our adjustments are affecting the composition.
Great approach to a useful effect like this. Nice and simple. I used it on ice for a variety of drinks in an Ad, looks sick. Also, one hint for others - instead of frame animating the evolution for animated noise, ALT click the stop watch in the evolution parameter and use 'time * 200" ( that number can be increased or decreased to effect the speed of the effect ) - Just a little handy tip to avoid having keyframe!
