I own this car (2024 500e - white version) and I love it. I named the car "Stella". The 500e was designed to be a city car. It's not an SUV, pickup truck, or luxury sedan, and it's not a long-range commute car. It's fun to drive, and it can park in tight spaces that all the giant SUVs cannot. Having had 2 Honda Fits previously for many years (which I also loved), I can say the seats in this car, and the overall ride, are much more comfortable. The cargo area is smaller than the Fit but with two adults in the front, and a kid or dog in the back, with one seat down, the Fiat 500e can still fit a lot of groceries or stuff in the 500e trunk area. And as far as a Frunk is concerned, why is that even necessary? This is not an untested car. The newly designed Fiat 500e has been available for a few years now in Europe and is extremely popular there. This is why I felt comfortable taking the plunge and buying one when they became available in the US. If you want a big, heavy vehicle that can fit a ton of people or cargo, or that can drive a huge distance in a single charge or tank of gas, this car is not for you. If you want a small city car that is not built in China (looking at you, electric Mini), that has a ton of personality and is fun to drive, that you can quickly charge and not use gas, consider the Fiat 500e.
I live in an area with a lot of EVs as third cars with SUV(s) or truck if they have horses. Most have solar and have a stand alone substation at least 30 feet away from any structures in case it decides to have a "thermal event." I would park/charge one in an open carport or breezeway, but never an enclosed garage. I own cars going back to the 40s and treat them the same way. They are in a detached garage with a sprinkler system. But being ICE, a fire from them would be easier to extinguish.
I love Fiat 500s, I've had two of the gas ones. But this is just not competitive in the American market. Since it doesn't qualify for the tax credit, it's basically comes out to be the same price as a Tesla Model 3. The Model 3 is still a relatively small car, but has 2 or 3 times as much range, access to NACS rapid charging, better performance, more storage, easier availability to buy, etc. Also it looks like the Fiat 500e is just built on the same platform as the old one, which goes all the way back to 2007. It looks like a bunch of those interior parts are the same SKU as the ones from the outgoing generation.
was appealing when it came out in Europe a while back. Makes less sense in US, but still a good commuter. The Kia EV3 is coming soon, and has loads more room, better comfort, and 267 miles of range for the same price, or 372 miles for $5k more.
This car is made for european cities, where there is no space to move, no place to park, small corridors instead or streats and no open roads to run. 500 e perfecta
I'd love a little urbanite runabout. Infrastructure is still a little bit early days for EVs but smaller battery might help with making it work at work 🤔🤔
Seriously? For almost the same price ($35k after rebate) you get a Tesla Model 3 with twice the range, 3 times the cargo space and much superior feature and quality.
3:17 the main vibe I am getting from this is that it's a really a $20k car priced at $32k based on price, features and quality. hope they start reducing the price quickly.
I saw the first new-generation Fiat 500 shown as a concept car in Europe, probably around 2010, and I recall that it was a few inches longer in the rear, with a more squared-off roofline (similar to a Mini Cooper). It looked not only more practical for rear seat and cargo space, but the design actually looked better - more balanced and functional. Fiat just doesn't grasp that this tiny, cute car won't cut it in America, BEV or otherwise.
Really like the idea of City EV, not a lot of range and enough range to get you from point A to B and back. Have an i3 with a 153 miles range and it’s just right for daily commute and get groceries.
Right away I knew this reviewer was going to unfairly bash this new 500e with that toy car at the beginning of the video. And how dumb to say 141 miles of range is short when this small car already has a tiny battery. Other auto reviewers were more positive than this guy.
I keep laughing everyone's comments about this and that being bigger, roomier...ie heavier, thirstier, wasteful. Pickups are great work truck and its yur choice what you drive but they are still all about American gluttony, obesity, etc. Just traded in my last V8 for one of these......for the sheer fun of it.
so what. the car is made for Italians, not Americans. whaaa, the cup holder is too small. driving in the u.s. sadly you need to drive a tank if you want to walk away from an accident because people drive so disrespectfully.
yet another dud from Stellantis. the price is too high. FIAT has basically a zero in terms of long term reliability. ask anybody who bought a 500, they never bought another.
you saw the title, the thumbnail of the car, and yet you felt entitled to get on your soap box to tell everyone that no one cares. There has to be a name for something as childish as this.
So glad _CAR_ Reports wastes so much time and money doing thorough testing of every stupid midlife-crisis-mobile on the market that they have no money left to test much of anything else.

Use case for this car: second car in the family with a garage and used as main commuting vehicle.
💯

Cost is too high.
Or third car. And some fairly deep pockets.
Just use them as a two seater with the backseats folded down and you got a cool hatchback

The factory that builds them has been shut down for a few weeks because unsold cars are piling up. That's all the review I need.
Americans don't like them because most are too fat to fit inside. Sad truth ...Ironically you can be 6 4 and fit fine in one of these.

The Fiat is fun to drive! It brings joy. The lease made perfect sense! Ciao!

this is what EVs should be! too many 2500kg SUV doing 30 miles a day between garage and strip mall
$32k for the base model? No way it's worth that much 😂
Hmm. There’s a Fisker in the background. Is it bricked? 🙄
117 hp, not 177 but I'm still interested, especially if thry bring the convertible version over from Europe.

4:24 why on earth would it go THERE?
8:17 also, why doesn't the seat move forward? like it dose in a lot of 3 door hatches.
I really seems like there were a lot of corners cut here.
Try less than 190/mo.......10k in incentives..................and you don't need to drive a fat lipped testicle
Do the rear seats fold down flat? If yes, then there's your expanded storage space.
Not flat, at an angle they say.
Nice and thorough review! Sadly for Fiat, I won't be checking back for updated test results. This car has way too many compromises.
“42 kW per hour battery”-Massive credibility drop, get the EV fundamentals right CR!
Its nice
Look forward to the later review in a few years time
Yes, once we have some reliability data since it is a Fiat.
Would the chevy equinox be a better choice for less money, more range, overall safer car ? Why would anyone buy this ?

Oh, they know this car at this price is going to hit the U.S. market with a thud. Real bad fit, actually.

Has potential as an around town car once it is on the used market.
Hopefully they bring the convertible!!

Cute but it's still "Fix It Again Tony"
Tony probably can’t fix this EV
Yeah, get a range of 200 and a back seat and you might have something there.
I am really hoping the 2025 RAM 1500 is coming soon. I am curious what consumer reports thinks about it/them.
They only like vehicles that get good gas mileage. I mean this Fiat is a piece of crap.
We recently purchased a 2025 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab 4x4 to test, so keep an eye out for some info soon!
Using proper pronouns for a Dodge..hmmm..wth..it/them/he/her
All I can say- it is cute. Some poor quality in the vehicle and awkwardness. Too many inside issues that are inconvenient and also fall aparts.
In Canada they sell them for 42000-12000 gouvernement rebates so for 30000cad or 22100$us...
Where you live yes, many provinces only get the $5000 iZEV rebate.
Tesla 3 rwd has 272 mile range, 4 doors, ton more room and features, qualifies for tax credit for $30k. How does this 500e make any sense?
Woo hoo!
Where’s the ashtray? It’s an Italian car right?
Basic car with underwhelming range at an insanely high price. Recipe for success! 😂😂
But could be a great first (used) car for a kid that only drives to school and a local job.
all weather golf cart
Wow how underwhelming. Can you say massive depreciation.
For $34k just buy a Honda Civic Sport Touring hybrid (sedan or hatch).
I would buy one if I wanted a second or third car just for giggles but for a daily driver- hell no! The range is pathetic.
Yeah, this is gonna sell!🤨
I keep laughing everyone's comments about this and that being bigger, roomier...ie heavier, thirstier, wasteful. Honda Fit EV - C'mon Honda!
Nope 😮
Way too much money for something that offers way too little. Fiat is hoping that people fall for the design.
so what. the car is made for Italians, not Americans. whaaa, the cup holder is too small. driving in the u.s. sadly you need to drive a tank if you want to walk away from an accident because people drive so disrespectfully.
That’s to much for a car with such little range
It's a 2021.
Doesn’t make any sense when tesla and other Evs exist.
At least it’s not Stockburger reviewing this thing. That is the only highlight of this video.
Sorry but for this price its a hard miss
Poorly designed car. Just throw stuff in there where it fits. Typical, no thoughts given to anything.
Poor quality.
yet another dud from Stellantis. the price is too high. FIAT has basically a zero in terms of long term reliability. ask anybody who bought a 500, they never bought another.
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE UGLY....THE UPPER PART MAKES IT LIKE A GARFIELD APPEAL...I DONT LIKE SOMETHING THAT LOOKS SLEEPY OR SAD...LOL
Premier for an early review? Give me a break!
It's bad enough CR plays this game with their Talking Cars. Just post it!
Just publish the damn vid. No need to do this thing.
Pass…
I can't believe they still make this garbage can-might as well buy a Smart car.
What an Ignorant thing to say
@@rudfil Sorry if you own one-go trade it in for a huge loss.
$34,000.00 is "affordable" and "on the inexpensive side!?!" LOL.
Cute car. Terrible value
No one cares.
you saw the title, the thumbnail of the car, and yet you felt entitled to get on your soap box to tell everyone that no one cares. There has to be a name for something as childish as this.
Yes they do
So glad _CAR_ Reports wastes so much time and money doing thorough testing of every stupid midlife-crisis-mobile on the market that they have no money left to test much of anything else.
Toyota Camry is the best car ever, hands down, no questions. If it starts and runs and is mundane AF, CR is creaming their pants.
*Consumer report test every car available for sale* *shocked consumer report test a car for sale*
Heck, buy a Nissan Leaf with 42 KwH battery, cheaper and has 4 doors! Also, Mike, at 5:00 I see you had your fingernails done, nice job!
