I ordered the HG-803A from Bangood, i live in the Los Angeles area, i ordered on a Sunday night and early Tuesday i had it!! Their US warehouse is not far away from me, great price and no problems.
I swapped my cross in to this one. So i am happy with my 801..I only will kick that weiering from steering out.alo I plan to let the rear axles locked and the fronts open.. very nice review thank you 👍👍💪💪
You’ve really dialed your HG’s in, the detail and realism is phenomenal. I ordered a fair amount of parts from Bangood prior to the pandemic and had very good results, granted, parts only no vehicles and shipping was consistently around a month. Keep ‘em coming Gerry! Peace out..:)
The cabs are not a true 1:12th scale cab, they're smaller, meaning a 6 inch action figure doesn't fit right in it. They're nice, like you mentioned, no locking differentials is a bummer, but like you said, but if you want to take them apart, one can. Wish they would have made it easier like the Humveee from HG, those axels have a plug that you pull out and insert a grub screw to lock the diffs. One cannot find anything else on the market with this kind of detail with opening doors and other functions that the other companies will not make. Glad i got the dump bed one.
I really like the chains on the wheels on the 803 ! Great video 👍 If you do come down to Arizona, look me up cause my wife & I would love to go trailing with you !
I really wish hg would do a “pls” variant of the hemtt the army had all kinds of different pallets that would make the truck do pretty much anything you can imagine
Great channel, information delivered exactly at my pace and interest. As an Oshkosh Defense employee, I really want to own a scale model of a HEMTT. I am appreciating the videos you make on these.
Aw Gerry I hope you never change. Shoot from the hip and the heart. Always an interesting listen. Really enjoy the background on some of these trucks. Don't know a whole lot about them to be honest. Other than they must be major POWER HOUSES. I know the ones I see over in Europe doing Comps? The RAW power is CRAZY!! Oh and Personally? I think these rigs awesome out on the trails all lit up.
No worrys my friend I don't ever plan on it!! Glad to share on things I like in rc and real life! I to have watched the big truck comps with HEMITT, MAN and the Russia trucks bad A for sure!!
Hi Gerry, your channel is so inspiring. I was watching your video on fixing the rear diffs just prior to doing it myself. I saw this video and watched it, fair and true comments on HG, very good. I have the new P805 Patriot Missile trailer and have done a few videos about it. I have kept the top two missiles so they can be craned into place. Yesterday I checked my p803 crane and it can lift the tubes, just! Keep up the good work and thanks.
This is a little weird: I'm waiting for a bargain basement 6x6 rc truck I ordered to turn up, as a little project making a crap truck a bit better. The truck is the Fayee FY004a (no FPV camera), same as the Eachine EAT01 I believe (no laughing at the back!). It's £60 including shipping to the UK. Proportional throttle and steering. I've ordered some half million cst diff oil to "lock" its diffs up and some softer wpl leaf springs to make it more compliant. Still with me? Good: This thing has a HEMTT style cab so naturally.. I've been looking at proper HEMTT vids on YT and of course HG's range turns up.. then you put out your latest video!! Thank you - very informative. I now feel that I require an HG803 in addition to my crappy little project. How does the cable/servo operated steering hold up? Is it easy to set and adjust? Oh, and holy crap! Snow chains!! Did you fabricate those yourself or are they an accessory? Cheers, Gerry.
Nothing wrong at all with a cheap project! With a little work some cheap trucks can really surprise you😁 the steering on the 803 is different but not bad in my book, completely adjustable comes with spare cables and works well in my book! I cheated with the chains I got them from amain!!
Great talk! I love mine (P802); had a blast doing the differentials, 3:1 GRU, switched out Rx/Tx for Flysky, added a double winch, etc. I don't have the lights so I haven't had that frustration, I've put in some of my own. Trail-perfect 'power wagon'. There's recently something screwy with a couple of my front wheels, with the pin that locks the wheel to the axel, but I'll have fun improving that. Just gotta be patient with the Asian warehouses, that's been my experience. Keep it up Gerry!
When i got mine around new year the one thing that got me was the throttle and steering on the same left stick and the right stick channels doing nothing! I checked the manuals and figured out to swap the steering to Chanel 5 on the receiver an boom! Right stick for steering! (Dump truck version it was free anyway)
I did the same and noticed that the right stick moves the servos a lot more than the left. Not sure if there are end points set with one channel and not with the other. I ended up putting them back the way there were. Don't want the servo to burn out prematurely.
Great video 👍 I do like the hg models alot I have the p802 and trailer, totally agree with you on hg needs to increase the quality checks, but price wise I think they are great value for money, I'm currently building the cross rc fc6 and although it's a great kit there is plenty more detail cross could have put into the fc6 for the price I paid lol. Anyway keep up the great video content 👍 all the best from the UK 👍
500USD sounds good, but in canadian thats like $4.6million 🤣 obviously exaggerated for fun. Ive been binge watching your cross and HG videos trying to learn more about their possible weaknesses. Cool to hear you talk about the real version trucks too thanks for these videos
you just mentioned the missile tubes, on the 805 kit the tubes are cast aluminium and all the brackets etc. are added on the kit, what's the bet, that once they start to make the spares available, like they have on all the rest of the trucks etc. that you'll be able to purchase similar for the 805 missile launcher, see where I'm going with this......😄😄
Thumbs up👍for Gerry and the HG models. Hope Banggood get the"finger" out and start shipping to Norway. I want the 802 and the trailer/806. 803a works fine for me even if it raises and lowers slow...it is just like me 😉😅😂thank you for your veiw🎮🎮🎮
@@gerrysoldguyreview Not shipping to Norway, seems to be larger items, is New. I have had no problem earlier years, and they did ship HG p893a last autumn. Also bought the Hummer HG p408 i think. Anyway, slow can be good some times, agree😉😁
question for you, does the locking axles on the 6x6 swap out on the hg803a? so you would have locked diffs if you replaced the axle. ??? the 2 million grease would work I agree ,just curious about replacement parts in the future. I plan to crawl with it.
Hello soloshooter! Comparing the 2 axles together it would not be an easy swap, 6x6 is leaf sprung while 803 is links. All the mounts are completely different and not many on 6x6. 803 is pretty powerful and the 2 mill grease doesn't work perfectly so I would probably lock them with epoxy for crawling.
@@gerrysoldguyreview thanks for that info. this is a n example of what i want the hg model for, locked axles are a must have video.ruclips.net/video/6wmSJwJ0BAo/видео.html
Thank you for the long term review. I've been looking at the p803a none stop but unless I order from china best I can find from us stock is $600 but doesnt include sound and lights. In your opinion is that still worth it? Thanx again
If you can wait on the shipping time I went with China for the cheaper price compared to the lower end U.S. one but you could always get the u.s. one then order just the lights and sound from china!

So true! It was a evolution with these trucks the 602 mrap also has lockable diffs. I really feel new generations will get even better!!
I didn’t know most of what you shared about the model differences. Very helpful. Thank you.

Who knows fred, they are the only game in town for hemtt's. With the 2 new trailers maybe they will plan an updated truck!😁

The snowchains, how did you make those?
Bought them from Amain hobbies
@gerrysoldguyreview and did you ever lock the diffs? How did you do it?
Yep, have a video of it, used 20 million weight traxxas diff fluid
