Thanks for this video, even though I don’t plan to do this much modifications but this video shows me how things come apart when I need to. I have been mostly in to speed run cars, this is my first so-called crawler truck.
Thanks for the detail - sure helps us newbs... and for pointing out the disconnected red wire from the SC to the BEC, my wasn't even shrink wrapped, they just pulled the connector pin out of the plug and left it haning. I figured it was a boo boo, so stuck it back in. Truck arrived from China 4 1/2 months after I ordered it, bad left steering servo, so while it's up on the hoist, am going to slow it down based on your fixer upper here with yer easy to follow instructions, in a proper Ontario accent to boot (grew up over near Shelburne, stuck down here in Texas now). cheers and thanks.
Hi, agreed about the speed - it is too fast for scale. I like your solution, but no 3D printer meant I just opted to buy a GRU and bolt it inline with the existing transmission. Had to slightly cut the dog house and lose the fan, but now it has enough power to climb steep hills without burning the motor. Thanks for the inspiration! and I like your attention to detail, cool video.
Thanks for sharing, that's a good solution as well. This heavy truck is fun to drive for sure, and I'm hoping more ideas come forth to make them better.
That is SO COOL Chris!!! GOOD to see you back in the Shop too. THAT is my Dream Rig! I've wanted an 8X8 for YEARS. Still WAY out of my Range ($$$), but maybe someday... Awesome use of your TOUGH Transmission too! The Gear Reduction, 2-Speed and 3S Battery Power, should make quite a capable Rig. ....... I'd LOVE to see you try to get more suspension travel out of it.... 😲 Carmine ✈🚂🚙
can you do an update video on this rig? please...i want one so badly, but life keeps hitting me with expensive fixes. This info on your channel is awesome ,thank you.
Great video Sir! Being you are a expert with this truck, I own one as well. My question is totally off this subject, my truck headlights do not come on period. Can you give me some professional advice on getting my headlights to work. Thank you for your valuable time.
I believe all the lighting was plugged into the giant Bec power supply. But after that, I couldn't tell you if there's another plug up the line that may be disconnected....
Hi! I've recently purchased this truck and want to change the transmission. I've seen in that video, you've used a 3D printed bracket to mount the transmission into the chassis. Do you sell the STL file or share? Greets from Germany
Do you know of any online resources or info on these trucks? I have one running 6s brushless on chunky tires and I was looking to find aftermarket axle shafts and other beefy driveline parts to keep up and I didn’t know if there are compatible parts on the market?
Nice mod. Be careful though, because the axle shafts are not bearing supported in the axle housings. Not even bushings. I know you are going to slow it down, but will the power increase wear the axles quicker and cause slop and early failure? I bought the P802 and I had been considering locking the rear diffs for traction until I saw that. Looking forward to more about this truck! : )
It's good that you are modifying the rig to suit your needs. And the detailed info shown here is much appreciated. But I wonder where is your condescending attitude towards it from. It will be good if you share with the rest of us where the rig didn't earn your respect for the money spent.
Hello! Thanks for watching! Any truck with this detail and design quality should drive far better from the box. Much better. They had all thinking in place for the design mechanics, for the level of excessive detail, the fitment is very good, and then totally disappointed on the driving experience. It's under powered, over geared, and has a 1/2 beadlock on the rims.. one side clamped, the other side no clamp or glue. For any rig that has 2 speeds you should have a very slow and powerful low gear, and then a faster travel gear. This has a fast gear and a highway gear. No ability to crawl or drive slow at all. This is very disappointing and requires a drivetrain change to fix. Not good. As well as my excessive love for this (and I have driven it for DAYS offroad) I hoped to have much better parts support and far better driving experience from the box.

Cool stuff Chris! I really like those transmissions , I have one in my Jeep (1/10) and another one in my Hummer (1/6) . They work great!
That is SO COOL Chris!!!

Oh, and the TenShock 1750kv 906.... My FAVORITE Brushless Motor!!! 😎👍👍
It's made my Wraith, quite a Beast!
Travel change.. no, but it sure is fun, and the motor combo is perfect for this thing!
That thing looks like a beast
well done!
Thanks!

Awesome, I've yet to mess with mine yet, but definitely interested to see what you do with it.
It's turned out to be a pretty great truck after the drivetrain update.

@GCMRacing1 thank you!
Greetings from Germany
Hello there!
Can you make tutorial how to change leaf spring because that hemtt have bad suspension
Cool video. New sub
Thanks for the sub!

Greets from Germany
Email our store at gcmracing.ca and we can send you the file yes
This would make a great rc car hauler aka Dakar Rescue Truck :)
Oh yes!
Great video! Excellent discussion and explanation. I plan to put the same motor in mine, what brushless ESC did you end up using?
Hopefully I linked to it.. I used the 10bl60 from hobbywing.
Great job! What is the length on the driveshaft you using please do you have a link or website thank you.
I used a JunFac short one. No number I can recall at this time.
Can I use NiMh batteries in this?
Sure, but I don't use those any more. They just lack power compared to the Lithium now
Hi. Can it take a LiPo battery? If so what size? 2 or 3 cell ? Thxs Chris
I like this truck. I might have to pick one up. I am waiting for the HG P408 to come in the mail now. I'd like to see what you would do to the P408

I see bearings all over mine.... It's pretty well done actually.
i got one but im asking can i run on 3 s with stock electronic becouse esc i think is suporting only 2s
I don't think the stock esc will survive the 3s. The BEC inside is fine, the ESC stock is not.
@@GCMRacing1 thanks
Is there a differential lock upgrade for those?
I don't know of one that's made for this truck. I'm guessing you could use the Lesu units and retrofit.
Ok thanks!
Quick steel in the spider gears
I have also 801 I want upgrade plz tell me which car gear is this
Where can I order this Transmission?
contact GCMRacing.ca for a setup to use on the HPG
