      Chris Holderness I am thinking that too as there’s quite a big intake now and surely the water thrown up must get in

    I did mine recently,have delkavic cans on,make sure you isolate anything unplugged with insulation tap and also if you have standard exhausts leave the inlet on the pair valve unblocked ,If you block it will clogg up the cat,if you have aftermarket cans on it will pop and crackle with it unblocked and wont do damage if you block it.
    If you do block the inlet pair hose use a marble lol or a cap.

      Makes no sense what you're saying ... if a Cat's fitted, yes leaving "Pair valve" in a working condition is beneficial for the Cat & O2 sensors to function as Honda intended, changing cans, it'll still affect Cat & O2 sensors if u block "Pair" system ... (Think about it)

  • @KevsShed

    I definitely prefer the sound of the bike without the Snorkel, it sounds so bloody grunty when the VTEC kicks in! It could be a combination of the flapper mod with it though. I'm not convinced by the PAIR valve mod mind, actually thinking about putting mine back to stock to see if I notice any difference!

      I agree with you Kev. The snorkel mod sounds great. I did the trio of mods.
      Kept the flapper mod
      I put the snorkel back because I feared the water and crap will get in.
      I did try the pair mod but bike didn't want to start. Kept cutting out. So I put it back.

    Any plans for throwing an exhaust on to it? Funny that that was ever even on there in the first place, I wonder was it emissions related.

    Did you do the flapper mod too? there's a small vacuum hose that lifts a flap in the airbox to reduce air flow. Just pull the hose and leave it loose and she will breath better again. I put all mine back though pipe and snorkel. I wanted better economy.

    • @Motourev
      @Motourev  3 года назад

      Yes did the hose too, not noticed anything different in fuel economy

    • @mickeymouse4897

      Pulling vac hose from flapper does nothing for economy or performance, hope u plugged the hose or you'll have a vac leak & cause it to run lean, which can be terminal for a 4 stroke motor, flapper disconnected, bike will run a tad smoother at low rpm's if the starter valves are correctly set, 5th & 6th Gen are different.

  • @roadwarrior8560
    @roadwarrior8560 4 года назад +1

    some say it sounds better but makes no performance difference, flapper and pair valve mods can also be done, might pull the snorkel on mine, flapper is also easy disabled, pair valves are another story though.

    • @Motourev
      @Motourev  4 года назад +1

      Road Warrior yeah done all 3 now but did them as soon as I bought her so I don’t know what she was like before 😂🙈

  • @mickeymouse4897
    @mickeymouse4897 2 года назад +1

    Might sound better to some, in reality, it does nothing for performance ... no more or no less air is drawn into the airbox, snorkel just quietens down intake roar to pass noise regs.... I'm a 5th Gen owner, my snorkels staying put, your own choice to leave or remove ... keep it shiny side up guys .

      Flapper is fully closed below 5,000rpm, fully open above 5,000rpm, what makes u think you'll get water ingress into airbox?
      Disabling flapper vac unit only leaves flapper fully open all the time, personally I'd advise to fully remove the flapper vac unit, gaffer tape over the mounting hole, install a couple of self tapping screws thru flapper edge to secure it fully open or remove airbox lid & remove flapper all together.
      Removing snorkel does nothing but increase intake roar, in fact bike will lose power due to airbox resonance being affected, for best results, leave snorkel in place.
      If u have a vermin issue, fine wire mesh over flapper & snorkel inlets, no mice or rats can get in then.
